    Not sure why but this process is fascinating. It's sad for the bunnies, but they don't go to waste. That is the way of things in life. It is no different than when a pull a fish out of the Boise River. Plus from what I understand, they really cause a lot of headaches for farmers in your country.

    I read a lot of the comments and I think the people who thinks this is cruel should take one thing into consideration. You couldn't graze a horse, cow, sheep or goats in that field without them breaking a leg. In fact, I dare you to try and walk across the field, without the paramedics standing by, you surely will break a leg or ankle. A rabbit or two in the field is really not a problem, but this farmer is up to his butt in rabbits. Can you imagine the financial impact if one of his workhorses, or the nice pony that he bought for his granddaughter breaks a leg.

    • @markbulichsr.836

      i disagree you can graze hoofed animals there you just can run them there but they can see their feet just as well as a human can they dont step in holes any more than we do.thats why they wont step across a cattle gate because they can see the gaps. i do agree thats alot of dam rabbits

      I was ferreting rabbit with a friend yesterday and he's had to try remove some rabbits from some horse paddocks where a horse rider injured herself from either her or her horse falling down a rabbit hole. So what you say is very true.

    • @brentbarnhart5827
      @brentbarnhart5827 5 років тому +1

      I'm a rancher you are EXACTLY correct. We do not graze Tennesee Walking horses in ANY pasture that has holes of ANY kind. And when we are racing the horses out in the fields it is always in the back of my mind 1 freaking hole and the horse will need put down and I could be dead. But you are preaching to a bunch of liberal whacko's. I'm sure it is in season, I am sure they are gonig to eat them. IF NOT SEND THEM TO ME. AS for killing them, that is about the most instantaneous way it could be done.
      Notice he didn't let them die by getting chewed up by the dogs.

    The irony. All the people talking about poor rabbits are the same ones that think everything should be done naturally. That is, as long as they can't see how cruel nature really is. They'd rather live in some fairy world they create in their own mind than find out the truth about nature and wild animals. Plus they usually live in a city and have absolutely no idea how destructive rabbits can be. They only have to worry about what food is on sale in the store, not what needs to be done to protect the food so it can actually make it to market.
    BTW- Ferrets catching and even eating rabbits is natural. Where do you think the terms predator and prey come from?

    Ferrets are great with rats and mice too. They seem to enjoy human companionship and can be trained to be selective hunters and leave things like chickens alone. In the wild they will catch, kill, and eat animals several times their size.

    Its my interpretation of this is that Farmers and Ranchers with horses and livestock call you in. The rabbit holes are dangerous for a horse to step in thus breaking its leg and having to be put down.

      On this farm it's more a case of the rabbits damaging stone walls. They breed like rabbits and the population will treble within a year so they need controlling.

    Never seen this before ..
    I've seen Ferrets used to hunt river rats very cool . But this is even better , to use dogs and Ferrets as they work together with you Gentleman is very cool .
    But here in America I would like to sit up on the hill and wait for them to come out just before dark and even in the dark if you have a night scope and shoot them with a 22LR Or 22Mag Rifle
    Then it's just man and Rabbit . In Pennsylvania we used to sit on the porch and shoot about 15 to 20 rabbits before it got too dark . They would come out and we would just shoot them and then when it got dark go pick them up . They tasted great .

      You shouldn't really lose your ferret if you are using finders. These are brilliant bit of kit that can locate your ferret upto 16 feet. I have lost lost one in all the years I have been ferreting. Not only can you find your ferret when using ferret finders but also you will locate them when have killed a rabbit below ground. So you then will have to dig to them. 6ft is about the deepest I have ever had to dig but that depends on the ground your ferreting. Alot of rabbit will out run the dogs. Thankyou

    • @reynoldsoutdoors3055
      @reynoldsoutdoors3055  4 роки тому

      That's correct. Sometimes they are just back up but alot of the time we wont use nets and just let the dogs try and catch the rabbits. Nets catch 90 % of what bolt but dogs dont catch so many. Keeping a healthy population for the next time.
