Ferreting on the moorland of North Yorkshire | Shooting Times

- Simon joins Macca, Torchie, Malcolm, Phil and Colin on a days ferreting on the moorland of North Yorkshire. This was a ferreting lot Simon donated to the NYMMO auction whereby the money raised was split between raising awareness to their cause and donating to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The lot was won by Malcolm Dunn. Malcolm lives fairly locally to the estate and is into his ferreting. He wanted to ferret with his friend Phil Carr and his young collie cross whippet, Buzz, on different ground.
To promote such work on the North Yorkshire moors, NYMMO, The North Yorkshire Moors Moorland Organization, a collaboration of the moorland estates in North Yorkshire, was formed in December 2015. This was to promote, not only the positive work that they all do to promote all aspects of shooting, but the sterling work done for the local communities and the benefits that shooting brings to the local economy.
Days like these are timeless. Dog marks, ferret bolts and dog courses, catches and retrieves to hand a food fit for a king. Everybody enjoyed the day, the mood was very relaxed and we had no drama's. Colin got to watch the dogs at work, Macca caught a few just mooching about the hill with Dasher, Torchie, Malcolm and Phil had another day to remember. Simon always enjoy himself on a warren. After the few hours ferreting, they loaded the quad up with the gear plus 25 large and extremely healthy rabbits. In an area of no human disturbance you can truly call these rabbits organic. Nothing has tainted their hillside larder and when paunched, the amount of fat around the kidneys was outstanding.

What a great video guys, thank you so much.
As a 70 yr old ExPat living in NZ, I miss that lifestyle.
As a teen up to my mid twenties, I ferreted on three farms,
but used purse nets and/or a shotgun, never a lurcher.
By the way, your dogs worked very well, as I've seen multiple
dogs just get in each others way and lose rabbits.
Looks like a great day out... very handsome dog's 🐕 ... that are great at there job... 👏
Fantastic to see the dogs (and the owners) enjoying what turned out to be a wonderful day.
Beautiful dog. Well trained also. A real hunting machine.
Congrats to the entire team and thank you for sharing your wonderful hobby with us!
Fantastic watch 👍
Could watch this dog all day 💪💪👏👏
so very beautiful, the dogs, the stony landscape, the stone walls and the music.
Brings back fond memories ,of me and mates ,working site hounds on Dartmoor, Good old days,🐶👌
How this dog doesn't step in a hole and snap a leg is a mystery to me. Amazing!
i am also confused about that...lol
well...that dog is the best i have ever seen
what kind of breed is the dog?
Love the music.
Enjoyed that great video
Another great video. That looks a lot better place to ferret than the land we have in Cambridge. The views are amazing
At home in Suffolk its less photogenic as well.
One word only : Beautiful
Great to watch!
Excellent, Excellent video, Well trained k9s in action, along with ferrets you just can't film in action.
That has got to be one of the quickest dogs I've seen out the blocks. Quality vid
Beautiful
That dog it's a thing of beauty wot a machine
Fantastic film chaps
Amazing dogs. An ferret.
what an amazing dogs...
Super dog
Simon Whitehead knows his stuff!
This is beautiful, like a professional film
It would be nice to see you do a film of your dog Tawny lamping and to hear your thoughts and views on lurchers
Hes done some DVDs of his ferreting, lamping .
Hopefully in the future will have time to raise and train a lurcher looks amazing.
It is mate ,nothing better than getting your pup ,putting the ground work in then getting out hunting to watch it all pay off.
Brilliant ,that first rabbit caught an your hoping for the retrieve, doesn't always come first few times as dog is on a high after the chase an catch but it will. You really cant beat it ,you an your canine side kick walking the land at night with lamp.or day time mooching, ferreting, even shooting.
These dogs can do it all , so long as you put the time in when young.
Wishing you all the very best in the future ,,,,hopefully on the road to been a running dog addict .
Because Darcy got it right with the title of one of his books .
Running dog addiction...
It's one addiction that good for you.👍
I like this dog a lot, a bit of a pacer, but I think they like to keep moving a bit so the launch is smoother.
I have be been Here!
Fabulous dog, mixed with the Australian sheepdog?
Late but its a collie greyhound mix
brill vidio
Que Perrazo! Muy veloz! Que tipo de raza es? Podenco? O es algun tipo de linea? Felicidades! Geniales Los Videos! Saludos desde Chile!
El perro es un 'lurcher'.
What dog is that
Poor lurchers got the turning circle of titanic😂 but great video
I don't think the film lent itself to how steep those hillsides were. Normally Tawny can turn on a sixpence but on that day, gladly, she used her head for once and saved me from another trip to the vets. Glad you enjoyed the film.
Simon Whitehead it certainly didn't stop her catching plenty and it sometimes nice to have a lurcher that uses its head rather than one who's always at the vets with injuries due to running into fences etc. Haha
Your not wrong
يا الهي
What breed of dog is that?
Lots of opportunities for a dog to put its foot down a bury there whilst in hot pursuit ,bit worrying .
i have always agreed with country sports..i was a shooter....fly fisherman...and agree with hunting....ok xx
and i have been a great supporter of "shooting times" ...it is great...for years...
Fab Lurchers
5:00 the dog gets one rabbits drops that one then chases another .
The Cello at the beginning was too much, but the rest of the video was amazing.
Great vid but ditch the music, rather have a good voice over every time👍
Way too much editing. Its overkill
Too much freeze range
Feck....that music ruined it.
Where's the rabbits gone global warming 3000 acres
why killing this animals. its very horrible.
what kind of a dog is this breed? i want it
