- A short video with a closer look at my Century Arms VSKA AK 47 patterned rifle.
WBP wood furniture from Arms Of America
My VSKA is the “synthetic” model but has some odd parts- I have seen models just like mine on gun broker, but not on Century’s website. Maybe it was a carryover model, or from a run made with leftover parts, or it could be a late production “trooper” model.
At any rate, I don’t really care- just glad to finally get an AK and can’t wait to shoot it! - Спорт
LOVE MY VSKA AK ZERO Malfunction no Problem ... Like you bought my furniture from Atlantic Firearms same price Got the Walnut Looks Great
I love a good wood stock set on an AK. Classic and oh-so-scary lol
thanks - on sale locally - about to take a chance on one (love the furniture you picked up)
Thanks, I couldn’t stand the plastic furniture. If it had Magpul I probably would have left it, but I like wood better
I just bought one the other day and the laminate Woodstock they're putting on now are the best I have ever seen in my life all matching even the front top and bottom
The most beautiful Circle wood grain I have ever seen on any ak check them out. I had these rifles a lot in my life and I got to say this is my favorite best looking ak
Mine came with wood furniture, I bought this stock set and swapped it. Needed a little fitting
I bought the VSKA trooper over a year ago. Great rifle, it has served me well. I installed the Ultimak optic mount gas tube and Magpul handguards. Great Rifle.
I want to get a side mount rail for mine.
@Cranky Gun Reviews I initially installed a long eye relief scope on it, but i ditched it for a red dot. I still have the option for hard sight. The next one I buy, I'm going to try getting one with side mount. I'm looking at buying one from Palmetto State. I love AKs..lol. I eventually want to get several from different manufacturers.
@@Dawgs241 I would love to have several AK’s as well, for now I’m happy with one. I had a long eye relief scope on my Mosin and I hated it. Pulled it off and returned it.
What a difference! Looks much nicer.
Come on, range day!
Yeah made a huge difference
I believe yours is the Heavy Duty VSKA. Model: RI4090-N. I was wondering the same thing about my own and figured it out this morning.
Yeah that is my model Number
@@crankygunreviewsI have the same one!!! I want to change the furniture on it so bad 😭
@@TruthGotGunz do it!! I got WBP furniture and had to shave a few areas to get it to fit, and it’s nice and snug
@@crankygunreviews I am! I would’ve been had it changed out but I started building some new ARs and forgot all about it. 😂 I’m definitely going to get this bad boy right
Think the imperfections in the plastic you are referring to are actually fiberglass reinforcement in the plastic
It could be but it looked like crap
IMO yours seems to be a variant of the Trooper model. Those were heavily produced but a limited run. The skeletonized circle 10 stocks were a big selling point.
My guess is they literally ran out of the stocks and just produced a new model.
That’s what I thought too, but my gas tube is longer/ they’re are so many variants it’s hard to tell. My mode number is a VSKA synthetic, but the parts all appear to be crossovers
This is the heavy duty VSKA. I have this rifle with Phoenix furniture and recoil bushing.
its definately cool
Thanks :)
Nice stock set. Much better than the grubby looking plastic.
I think so too! Thanks!
I’ve been trying to get the bottom handguard and stock off mine and it won’t budge. Any suggestions?
Mine was pretty stuck, I had to force it off, but I think I got it off with just my hands. There’s a little lever you have to flip if I recall. Or maybe that’s for the top… I can’t recall.
My son just got one with wood furniture.
It's stained a red looking color. Hard to tell the species because the grain looks like it could be maple, or alder, or even cedar or redwood.
Cedar and redwood would be much lighter in weight than alder or maple, and that's why I'm leaning towards those two, as the gun overall seems light.
However, cedar and redwood are much softer woods and dent much, much easier.
Yeah website says American Maple. I like the laminate stock I bought looks more comm block to me
Can you take a close look at the side of the Bolt Carrier. Do you see a line running down the side? I am wondering if this has the older style or newer style Bolt Carrier. I got a used Thunder Ranch and "someone" swapped the carrier out and I am looking for a new one myself. I think a Romy will fit. Emailed Century to see if I could buy one straight from them.
How do you know someone swapped the bolt carrier out? The Thunder ranch models were a few years old and a lot had cast bolt carriers and trunions. I haven’t looked at mine that closely- but if yours was used and it hasn’t blown up it’ll probably be fine with moderate use
My bolt carrier is definitely cast. I don’t think my trunion is cast though.
@@crankygunreviews You are right. I was assuming it was swapped out because I was also assuming when Century went to S7 steel they were milling the Bolt carrier as well as the Trunnions. I thought all Thunder Ranch had both milled Trunnion and Bolt Carrier. Just an FYI- I talk to "Juan" at Century and he said they are no longer making Thunder Ranch VSKAs.
I found it kind of funny thunder ranch wanted their name on Century VSKA rifles. Looked mostly cosmetic, but I like the principle of partnering with smal us companies trying to make a name
@@crankygunreviews except neither company is "small" Thunder Ranch is a top level school and Century Arms has been making and importing firearms for over 30 years...
Hey I just Purchased the same AK can I put a folding stock on it ???
If it’s an AKM pattern it should fit fine- may need some fitting when you get it
Mine looks just like yours but mine came with wood furniture. My model number is ri4800-N the box says tactical. I’m not sure though lol
I think tactical is a loose and overused word… like in Princess Bride “you keep using that word… I do not think it means what you think it means”
