Laura have you thought of developing a vintage inspired perfume? A fragrance based an a scent popular in the past but no longer available? Just a suggestion ❤️
This is way, I have ALWAYS loved the Golden age of Hollywood. Men and women really took care of themselves . The women were soooooooooo beautiful. WOW! I've been a sucker for glamour.
Oh interesting, I heard somewhere that Marilyn specifically didn’t shave her face because the peach fuzz combined with the Vaseline she used looked good under studio lights. Where do you find all these facts?
I read the same. Something about a medication she took that produced more peach fuzz than normal, and she liked it as you mentioned. Perhaps prior to that in the earlier 50s she shaved it?
I have also read that Marilyn embraced her, according to some "heaviest peach fuzz they had seen" which grew and became very visible to the naked eye due to a hormone cream she apparently used. She refused to shave it off and used it in a positive manner combined with Vaseline to create that beautiful glow she has in many of her photographs. It is also quite visible in some close-up photographs made in public by the paparazzi when she was out and about or at events. It was said to be Elizabeth Tayler whom shaved her face. But who knows. I have read both about Marilyn. However the photographs suggest that she did not. The information on who used or did what in their beauty routine can be quite confusing at times.
I have used whipped egg on my hair and face for years as a protein moisturizing treatment. A cosmetologist reccomended it. Argon oil is fantastic for hair, face and body. For an extra treat add a few drops of lavender and/ or rose essential oil to the argon oil for the soothing and antibacterial properties. I also take distilled water and a few drops of lavender and/or rose essential oil and put it in a spray bottle. It works wonders to refresh my makeup and curls in the NC heat. I also use it to lightly mist my bed linens, throw pillows and curtains.
I have just found your page and I love your videos on vintage Hollywood scarlets/icons ❤ I've always been obsessed with them since I was 4 years old always watching Elvis Presley movies, Marilyn Monroe movies, Audrey Hupbern, James Dean and the list goes on lol...watching their movies in the afternoons on the weekend awww how I miss it so much 💗 Fantasizing about the graceful/elegance they all had. The unique rare Charisma unique era it was 😍 The beautiful one of a kind rare beauties of both women and men. The men were all so classy, charming and handsome. Also the classy women with their unique beautiful make up and their one of a kind clothes and accessories. It's so sad to think we don't have these beautiful people anymore and their beautiful fashion!! But they will always live on in our memories. 🌹🌸 I'm looking forward to watch even more vids. I have subscribed to your channel hun. Thank you Laura Jane for keeping this wonderful era alive. ❤🌸💗
The cold water. Always done it from age 18 I'm 54 and still loving it. It's just something one have to get used to. Your pretty good in trying everything 👏👏👏
I find it so funny how much information we can find about our favourite celebrities' beauty routines. Yet, I wonder how it is that so many times I find the opposite having been proclaimed. For example, Marilyn Monroe- she Always wore a bra blah blah. MM swore off bras and blah blah. I've read exact opposite peach fuzz comments as her makeup preparation. One claimed she loved her peach fuzz because she thought it worked like how we use a photo filter, softening her skin and wrinkles on the edges. Absolutely love videos like this. Like secretly getting to peak in and hear tips. Such fun.
You look fabulous! It all worked. Oil olive, over 60 years ago my baby sister had cradle cap really bad and her hair began to fall out. Mom's hairdresser told her to use warm olive oil And It did the trick! No my cradle cap and her hair grew back. I have a friend who is very particular with groomng. Her dermatologist told her to shave her face rather than any other way. Said it was the most gentle on her skin.

I am obsessed with using oil‘s such as castor oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, almond oil, coconut I make a cocktail and apply it to my hair once a week but i shampoo it out after anything like that you have too idk how back in the day they didn’t
New subscriber here. Great beauty tips from some of the greatest Hollywood legends. Thanks for including Sophia Loren; she is one of my favorites of the old Hollywood elite and my mom looked a lot like her in her youth. I’m going to search your archives to see if you have Maria Felix and Hedy Lamar on your list. BTW, your hair and skin look fabulous!
Home made treatments sometimes could be better than buying regular products in stores. But with the big variety of products with all ingredients been sold out there makes it easier for women today to treat their skin and hair.
Laura Jane Atelier I tried it that’s how I know Thank you for your videos the other tips Are exquisite, specially Joan Crawford Marlène Dietrich has really good tips toov
It actually helped my skin very much :-) I was acne prone til age 35. Sadly most skin care products are loaded with stuff that irritates your skin. Coconut oil is great for my skin because since I've been using it I rarely have a zit. Blessings :-) P.s. I use the fractionated kind. :-)
Disclaimer: the following is kinda gross and vegans please don’t @ me lol. The best hair mask I’ve ever used was made with beef and mutton tallow. I don’t know what all was in it as it smelled like lavender and maybe lily of the valley?? but it was amazing and I guess the protein and fat being of an animal rather than a plant is what really made the difference for my hair?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just some food for thought. (Lol, food for thought, is that a pun? I don’t know)
You just got a new subscriber . Great job doing these videos 👍 🙂 the ones I have seen so far have been really good but this one by far has to be my favorite . Keep up the good work ! 👏 👏
@@Lola-qu3ob I tried it and it was more on the red side, which would be ideal for a natural redhead. A warm blonde benefits from deeper browns. Black women look incredible in blue mascara. If only Maybelline brought back that iconic plum purple, it was universally flattering. Never missed a man the way I miss that mascara.
I have read in a “Natural Beauty Secrets” book- many uses for skin care such as Oatmeal Masks, to raw egg white mask- This was published in the 1970’s I think, Laura, and don’t know if it’s available now...I have tried both of these for years, and I think they really worked well even though not as appealing as expensive creams &and lotions! It also traced some movie star secrets, and historical figures....very interesting! ☺️💕
May West did age well! As I am rubbing coconut oil into my neck! Sophia Loren didn't shave her arm pits!!!!!! Rita Hayworth had dark brunette hair. The studios died her hair red.
I love baby oil I wear it everyday the aloe Vera one and my Fiance loves it now because he knows I love it, he has excema so it keeps his skin soft😘🌸🌹🌹🌻
*Thank you for being inspiring, informative, and lovely as always, Laura Jane!! Could you provide some information regarding the doll which you have on display next to the picture of the Siamese cat? It would be most appreciated.*
I like to do a bit of avocado oil or apricot oil on my hair before washing, at least for 30 minutes, concentrating on the ends. I’ve tried coconut and it’s far too heavy for my fine hair. I remember doing mayo masks on my hair in the 80’s. Rinsing hair with beer was popular too. I do several treatments every week. I don’t have a television. You’d be surprised how much time is wasted on tv/movies. I’d rather spend that time on myself.
I like my peach fuzz :-) it actually kind of blurs imperfections in my opinion. There are a lot of famous women including Jane Seymour who have visible peach fuzz and in my opinion doesn't hurt their looks at all :-) I moisturize my face daily with coconut oil (liquid not the solid) in fact it's the only moisturizer I use on my face and it does a great job plus I credit it for ending my breakouts.
They say you’re supposed to put your face in icewater like dunk it. And hold it for as long as you can. It’s to help the collagen. People swear by it. I’ve never tried it myself
Were you able to get the olive oil and mayo off of your hair turban? I would be super worried about that, like it wouldn't come out in the washing machine.
Personally when I use a face razor like that I only do the areas that look sloppy and grow in dark like my upper lip, side burn area and to shape around the eyebrow. I dont understand why people shave off ALL their peach fuzz. Your pores need hair to wick away sweat or it will sit on your skin and I feel like it's a lot of up keep. I dont know about you but my hair grows back in a day or two. That's just how I feel though 🤷♀️

Laura have you thought of developing a vintage inspired perfume? A fragrance based an a scent popular in the past but no longer available? Just a suggestion ❤️
Great idea!🦋👍
Oh I'd love that!!
Women in this day were so much more gathered and glamorous than what we see now. They all had such personalities and were fierce!
When I was having my daughter the midwife told me I looked like Elizabeth Taylor I said I wish 😂
You do
She was right !
looks like you do tho! lucky
You have the eyebrows and eye shape. So, you look a little bit like her.
You do! 🙂
Just a word of caution that for some skin types (like mine), coconut oil can cause breakouts!
Yes! Also for people with stonefruit allergy (or hay-fever which is linked to it), be careful
I miss the days of glamorous actress’s.
I love your pic! I love tuxedo babies, I have one

Marilyn monroe never shaved her face though and she actually refused to because she said the peach fuzz gave her a glow underneath the lights
I’ve been perplexed about that one & where she got this info.
Oh interesting, I heard somewhere that Marilyn specifically didn’t shave her face because the peach fuzz combined with the Vaseline she used looked good under studio lights. Where do you find all these facts?

@Cassie Miller I had no idea she had hairy arms too. Maybe she was hairy all over? Who knows..
You're right. If you zoom in on HQ photos of Marilyn, you can see the peach fuzz on her face.
I use coconut oil to remove makeup. It works on waterproof makeup too! Just use a cleanser to remove.

Not a necessary thing to do
I herd beef/mutton tallow is a really good Moisturizer.
Great video‼️
The razor takes off the peach fuzz & dead skin so if you notice dusty stuff along side with the peach fuzz that's dead skin that needed to come off.
