    Hi Shane! May sound like stupid questions (but there is no such thing as a stupid question, only a stupid answer! Right?) but here goes...
    1. Does the thickness of plectrum (thick/medium/thin) matter? I don't use thin plectrums because I can hear them make a clicking sound when I play.
    2. Is there any special way to hold a plectrum? Sometimes my plectrums turn/slip around in my fingers when I play.
    3. Does the gauge of strings (medium/ light/ extra-light) matter regarding tone and playability on an electro-acoustic? Any preference?

    • @GuitarAtWork
      @GuitarAtWork  5 років тому +2

      Hi Ray - thanks for your questions - If your pick is too thin it will just flex when you try to accent a strum, if you use a heavier pick all the energy you put into the strum will translate directly to the strings. I use a very thick and rigid pick. It took me awhile to get used to it but I would never go back to a thinner one. I hold it between my thumb and second finger primarily....that way, the first finger can jump on it occasionally if it starts to rotate or move in any way. Works well. Heavier strings create a better tone for sure. You don't want them so heavy that they are too hard to play - but they will fight back a bit. I use a med/light guage from Elixir designed for the Taylor 814ce called HD Light. Highly recommend - hope this helps you!
