Grandma used to say she was running against the wind always . “ I’m running against the wind John , not to much longer “ grandma passed in August of 2023 . I played this at her funeral. Now I believe grandma and grandpa are up in heaven dancing to this all night 💔💔 damn I miss yall man . This world is not fair
Whenever I want to reflect and shed a few tears I listen to this song. It’s a perfect song and it brings back many fond memories of my high school girlfriend and all that goes with young love.
73 and going strong - we were blessed to have created this genre - NEVER to be repeated in this lifetime - but maybe the next when we gather again. Love you my brothers and sisters of those lovely times, spiritually joined forever.
My grandmother passed 10 years ago and my papaw called her Janie. This song means so much to me. From her love of Forrest Gump to my 2 year old daughters middle name being Jane, I hope she knows and sees how much we love and miss her love.
"The years rolled slowly past. I found myself alone. Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends. I found myself further and further from my home" I tear up every time i hear that and I've been hearing over 30 years. It's just beautiful poetry.
I've always been running against the wind. Ever since my parents died and I had to take care of my three brothers. It happened in a small town and we got good support, but so many sad nights. I cry so much. I listen to this song and it recalls my life. We grew up as good christians. Good morals. Honest. In the 70's. Now, I've lost two of those brothers. Didn't really know them, as I was too busy with my life. I feel ashamed for that. Selfish really. I have to deal with that. The lyrics of this song is as if had written the words according to my life. I'm 66 now. Lived through the wind, raised three kids and feel thankful for that as my life's accomplishment. So maybe they won't have to go through life against the wind.
Greetings, Great One. I stand. I salute you. I applaud all that you did--all that you COULD!!! Thank you for sharing your story. I have loved Bob Seger and his music. First time I heard this one, I learned it pretty fast! Why? Because, I too, have always felt as if I were running AGAINST the wind!!! Again, thank you for sharing. StayWell. StandStrong!!! xoxo
I am 66 now and I am still running against the wind , lost my first wife in 1992 to cancer , remarried now to a wonderful woman , and until the day I pass I will still be running against the wind, maybe not as fast but still running, Thank you Bob Segar but mostly God...
This song came out when I was 4 years old. My parents divorced before I was 3. I grew up loving Bob Seger my entire life but this song always gave me a different feeling... one of nostalgia and comfort and love. Sometimes it would even bring me to tears but I never knew why. I am 46 now and about 3 years ago I shared a lyrics graphic of the song on Facebook with a comment of how much I loved the song and that it felt like home . My step-mother commented on my post saying how much my Daddy loved it too, and would play it over and over and sing it to me and I would sing back as best I could at age 4. My Daddy was killed in car wreck 3 days after my 5th birthday. Because of my young age, the emotions of the song had stayed with me when the memories of why had not. Music is one of the best gifts life has and no one will ever convince me otherwise.
This song was played when my lovely friend who passed away on the 21st August 2022, her service was yesterday (27/8/22) and they carried her coffin out of the building playing "Against the Wind". Bob Seger, you're a legend. Thank you for this amazing song. 👍

I had the pleasure to see Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band in concert almost 30 years ago. One of the greatest performers I ever saw. No lightshow pyrotechnic flash, he didn't need it. His music was the show. So lucky to have seen him live. True one of a kind. Bob Seger will live on for generations to come. 👏👏
@@darrenhayes_ Bob, my life has been tough with lots of stress and heartache! I am thankful I still have reasonable health, but it has been hard. We all have our own story to tell, And yes, we all are running against the wind. What a beautiful song. Bob Seger is such a great storyteller in his song writing. True master.
Quintessential Seger! So Bob Seger of a song. I love those earlier years of seeing him in the 70's and 80's. This is Bob the Seger man of so many of his great tunes. Miss those days. Loved to live them. Great graphics on this post.
I think that people in general feel like life has kicked their butts, nothing has been easy and we're all pushing against the wind, just to overcome or survive life's experience's, but look closer and you can find the goodness's of your life we don't have to give up, I shed some tears myself from time to time, love bob sever, he's an amazing person, truly!💕 Such a sweetheart

Lost my father 2 days ago after finally meeting him in person earlier this year for the first time ever. I am 46. In the first letter he wrote me he mentioned a line from this song. I am struggling with his loss more than I imagined I would. I finally got around to listening to this since his letter and Bob’s poetry and the story he tells could have just as easily have been written about my father. I may be using parts of this song on his prayed card. Love and miss you dad 😞
@@starlaberge9792 Thank you for being an amazing fan. Comments like this are priceless, Thank you, it's nice meeting you here. ~Chad Kroeger of Nickel back
I saw Seger many times in the early 70s seemed like he was the go to backup band at that time in Chicago. I remember booing him off the stage, wanting to get get the band we wanted to hear to come out on the stage.Seger backed up Gary Wright, Lenard Skynard and Ted Nuggent. Then Seger playing at the superbowl of rock and roll each summer at soldier field. I wish I had the sense at the time to realize how great the Silver Bullet band was. But am very glad I finally realized it later. And have loved Seger ever since. Play on my friend.
I was driving one day, and then this song came on the radio... I didn't know who Bob Seger was. I was like "oh this is nice..." Then the piano solo started playing... And so I had to STOP the car to carefully listen and admire this masterpiece. This was my first introduction to Bob Seger, and this is the first song I learned to play on an acoustic guitar. There's something magical about this song that makes you relax and contemplate life. What a masterpiece!
I am a woman but can relate to this very true and real song. Sometimes in life there are just to many battles we have to fight. Such a Awesome Song Absolutely Love It
I so wish I was born in this generation. This music resonates with ne so much. I grew up listening to this because my mother and father and everybody around me played it... mind you I was Born in 93, but I'll always connect with this ❤
In my youth, it was a nice song in the background, as I was driving along. That's the difference between hearing it in my youth, and listening to it as an older man. Those drifter's days are certainly past me now. Kind regards.
Turned 70 last year. Beyond the memories that this music brings back, good and bad, I love reading comments from the children to whom this kind of musical purity is new. So many wer not even born. Heck, some of their parents weren't even born. Still they appreciate the music. Maybe there is hope for humanity afterall.
Muy bien el tema la letra y la música. No recuerdo cuantos pero han de ser 28 años sin escuchar esta canción nunca olvide su nombre. Es un resumen de la vida de todos. Saludos y lo mejor para sus familias
Yes. I think it’s so sad that the music really did die and there is no more beautiful music. How lucky we were to have lived at a time when we were able to listen to such glorious melodies.
Do we ever stop running against the wind? When you are climbing the ladder 🪜 of age, and you are unknown inches from the top, these songs sound so much sweeter. You can almost taste the lyrics.
I lost my best friend today and as I thought about him I could hear this song playing in my head 1980 we met hit it off and had a friendship for the next 42 years this album came out that that yr and I didn’t even realize until now however reminded me of him and our time as teenagers for a couple of summers that could never be relived “we were young and strong and running against the wind “ Darrell Garcia, Rest In Peace my good friend
Life is a series of lessons. Sometimes, I think amazing songs like this are heard at important times in our lives. I don't believe in accidents. Does anyone here remember what was happening in your life when you first heard this song? Learn your lessons as they come to you, and that lesson will not repeat. Love to all.
I grew up listening to this song on the radio. Never paid any attention to the lyrics as a kid except for the line “against the wind”. So this is actually the first time I’m listening to (or reading) the lyrics….and a massive freight train of emotions just steam rolled right into me.
I'll be 36 In two weeks. I've always been a big fan of Bob Seger and this has been one of my favorites but It's funny how your perspective changes as you start to get older. As a kid I loved this song but never really understood It but as a grown man at almost 36 I understand this song completely and boy does It hit home.
You have to been through some real struggles and suffered some blows! You find yourself feeling "why me" then later you are thankful for the strength to run, past, present and future! Incredible song!!
Thank you, hope you’re well. Where are you from, if you don’t mind me asking and how long have you been a fan for, how long have you been supporting my music?
"Deadlines and commitments. What to leave in, what to leave out." Bob Seger is the truth.

Perhaps the most perfect song ever written, masterpiece In every sense of the word lyrically and musically
Oh yes. You're so right.
I heard him say in an interview once that he always tried to write songs that would last, about the things that are timeless. That was in 1980-something. Listening to this song, he was a man of his word.
