Came across your video while looking up tutorials on Ukulele bossa nova. I'm a complete novice but I found your video very easy to comprehend. Thank you very much!
Hello, Jeff. I had the pleasure of studying slack key guitar with you at Aloha Music Camp in 2011. Unfortunately, financial reasons have prevented my return to AMC, but I still love Hawaiian music (mostly I play it on steel guitar, thanks to Alan Akaka), and I’ve loved bossanova ever since it came out in the late 60’s. Thanks for this lesson! Fred Casey
I love this style and the way you teach it. I have been a student at your academy for a year and left to pursue more jazzy style playing (for instance Christopher Davis-Shannon, James Hill) but if you were to include a bossa-nova module in your academy, I 'll be back! Greetings from the Netherlands, Celia
Thanks for the lesson! I love the bosa nova beat. I also love how easy you make it look! It's going to take me about a 100 hours (or more) but I'll get there!
I suggest learning your basic 7th chord inversions keeping your left hand fingers curved and as close to the fret wire as possible with the thumb typically in the middle of the neck behind the 2nd finger. Many other variations on chords are used but this is a good start.

Muito obrigado, Jeff. Haven't played this style in a while so this was great fun. Have always been a great fan of Bossa Nova.

I love this, thank you. Sometimes Bossa Nova chords can get pretty tricky. And advice for the left hand?

Aloha!
It sounds so nice! Do you teach jazz/bossa nova in your online school or classical music only? Thanks!
I do teach Jazz and Bossa Nova at Ukulele Corner along with Hawaiian, pop, folk, and classical. Mahalo!
Hey Jeff I was just wondering what you had your ukulele tuned to because yours sounds much lower then what mine sounds like
It is tuned t the low G GCEA tuning
How do you strum very new to ukulele
What is your uke tuned to in here I’m a beginner but the string that’s supposed to be the drum is not a low note
I am using the low G GCEA tuning
Thank you for posting another inspiring video. Does a low G or re-entrant tuning on the uke sound better for this style of playing please?
This is arranged for the linear or Low G tuning. Classical music can also be played using the High G tuning so both tunings can work well.
What kind of ukulele is that?
Hi Janiya, this is a KoAloha Tenor Ukulele. Have a great day!
i dont know why buy you kinda remind me of young Mark Ruffalo
Hello Jeff , you can know a lot of great Brazilian musicians on the channel "Um Café Lá em Casa" @umcafelaemcasa
