I bought a house about a year ago and you would probably be surprised what you can acquire if you're constantly hunting for deals. I have effectively kitted out my 650sqft basement and only spent around 6k CAD. Some highlights of my purchases, buying a set of dumbells that were commercial grade urethane (5lb-100lb in 5lb incraments) from a show home at .20 cents per pound (retail, approximately $4.25 per/lb - they sold them because they were "greasy"). I bought a full set of weighted barbells with a steel, one piece welded rack, for about .50 cents per pound from a government surplus sale. I bought some weights from an estate sale for about 10% of market price. My dollar cost average is approximately 15-30% of retail and the vast majority of my stuff is either brand new or gently used. For somethings like chalk bowls, I built them myself to save money. The MOST expensive part of building a home gym is the flooring and large wall mirrors. If you're patient, the equipment and weights are stupid cheap.

@@alexandretremblay3633 it's a dream come true, from what I watched,,, especially the work put in designing the custom made eqpm and details like the rack for safety spotter arms.
In that space, maybe instead of 2 calve machines and 2 hamstring machines and T bar row,,, I probably would have ditched the T bar and kept just one for each,,,saved space for a GHD and a nice tapis roulant,,, or for some bodyweight exercises like on rings or parallettes,,, but that is a matter of personal preference

The Atlantis refurbs were the easiest ones, Atlantis equipment is built to last and even if the machines are 10-12 years old, they are still in very good shape, i only had to change the upholstery and a few stickers and that was it. The magnum pulldown/row combo and the powerbody were the worst ones to do, every single part was damaged, not the same build quality 🤷‍♂️

i will try do post one soon, it is a great bar but i think it is overpriced for what it is and the different handles don’t have any benefit, if i had to do it again, i would only have got the regular ones, the main pro of this trap bar vs the other ones is the fact that you can adjust the height of the handles depending on your squat depth
