The 3rd muay thai guy was a genius strategist . He tested all his offenses because he was confident in his resilience and started dialing it up from the 2nd round but at first i though he was drunk lol . Anyways it was a good respresentation of tai unlike the bullshido masters .Anyways great video . Loved it . I would also like some good yaw yan , vovinam , choy gar , hung gar videos
I train in Chen-Style Tai Chi Chuan for about 4.5 years. The type of strikes that Tai Chi has is very similar to many other martial arts (punches, kicks, knees, elbows, shoulder strikes). Most Tai Chi martial artists spend most of their time training in push hands so they tend to develop more of the grappling aspect of the art (leg sweeps, takedowns, hand fighting and wrestling).
I recall these matches from about nine or ten years ago. It think the Chen Village fighters trained in sanda for a period to prepare for these events. Chen Village people are experienced in grappling and regularly participate in competitions. These fighters are students of Wang Zhanjun, who has the opinion that traditional Chen-style grappling techniques should be integrated with sport martial arts like sanda to make them more effective for combat sports. If you search his name, you'll find step-by-step tutorials on traditional Chen Taiji fighting techniques. Many of their throw techniques can be seen in these matches. However, these fighters obviously use a combination of their training in sanda and taiji. (Edit: or maybe they are from Chen Ziqiang’s camp who has also done sanda, can’t remember after so many years)
@@johngr1747 it comes from Shuai Jiao and is indeed studied also in Taichi. The slams and sweeps in sanda all originate from Shuai Jiao and Northern Shaolin
If you weren't told that Tai Chi Guy trained in Tai Chi, would you know he is "Tai Chi" guy? Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Karate and other styles are typically readily identifiable. How do you ID a Tai Chi fighter? Even the throws. What makes them Tai Chi or something you'd say, "Oh, he must be Tai Chi trained." When two fighters go into the ring, they all look basically the same - some variation of kicking and boxing.
I attended some of these Muay Thai vs fights in China with some relatively well known Chinese martial artists. I don't know how true this is but they explained to me that some of these are just to boost morale or Chinese martial arts and that they do modify the rules slightly to favor the Chinese fighter. Can't confirm or deny if it's true but just what i heard at the time
At end of the day TCC, looks as any other msrtial art, the difference in the sensing and the use of internal energy, but a kick is a kick and the same for the punches.
2:53: there's head kick catches that use the same side arm to block, but also those that use the opposide side arm coming across the face to "alligator jaw" the kicking leg and holding into onto the shoulder while either dumping the opponent straight back or kicking out the support leg with the opposite side leg. The alligator jaw one is obviously highly risky (in UFC FN Macao, Wang Cong screwed it up but Muslim Salikhov did it successfully one handed, no block) and should be done if you same side arm is already punching and your opposite side hand is in guard and can reach out to block sooner; or if you read the high kick early and can circle away from it to remove some of the power 5:43: using an outer leg to block the knee and push over exists and does happen in sanda, but is usually done from the clinch instead of shooting in, since you're not significantly dropping down under their punching height. I can see Carry the Tiger Back to the Mountain and Diagonal Flying in this move. Randy Brown shows a more vengativa style Diagonal Flying application here: ua-cam.com/video/jaj3YtyBeig/v-deo.html
How do you think things would have changed if it was on a Lei Tai (sp). Asking because Muay Thai fighters used the ropes to avoid being thrown. Any idea what rule set was used? Edit - forgot to thank you for the videos.
Maybe the Tai Chi guy was assumed to not be that good and thus they chose a less skilled Muay Thai guy to even things up. But, the fight was good, I feel some of it was Sanda, but there was definitely some Tai Chin in there.
Yup, there are knees. Elbows as well, and shoulders. If you'd like, here's a video I found of a friendly grapping spar against Chen Ziqiang. ua-cam.com/video/dTP16HPFMms/v-deo.html And some Yang Style guys sparring ua-cam.com/video/nUghBtcrTPA/v-deo.html
When you talk about handicap, you should consider those Taichi guys have to wear gloves and most of their techniques weren't allowed either, if you really want to watch real fight, you can go and arrange for street fight or underground fight that has no rules at all, any techniques or skills allowed, only then you can call it real fair fight with no restrictions. So don't complain about the muay thai being handicapped here, the Taichi guy were even more handicapped by the rules and gloves than your muay thai fighters here.
You're pretty much correct; of course they're wearing gloves which removes a lot of grappling, which taiji is based in. A BJJ guy in boxing gloves would be impeded also. But yeah, the main Chen style organisation in China also has a Sanda team. 😉
@@MrAnthero7And where the f*ck have you seen Tai Chi here? It can be seen that this is pure sanda. I've met people who really use Tai Chi in sparring. And it really looks like Tai Chi. They also use tui show techniques. If we follow your logic, then any boxer, for example, can enter the ring and say that he uses the mantis style and everyone will say what a powerful mantis style he has. But this will be frankly nonsense.
No matter the martial arts if they're not using combos and competition striking then it's a waste if time to watch to white belts figure that basic concept out.. actual Tai chi is known for movments.. with an s not s, not a t at the endif movement
for your information, these are all guys from chen village, the Muay Thai guys challenged them in Shanghai and they lost, 5 against 5, I think Chen won 3 and lost 2, it is important to mention that the Chen guys had never been in the ring in boxing gloves before, they only wrestled in palm pushing, and the Thai guys even though they had about a hundred matches still lost. Also for your information, these same Chen guys caught Xu in Hong Kong when he was speaking against Tai Chi and asked him if he wanted to fight them, of course he got scared and didn't want to, then you posted videos in his defense, and you said all sorts of things against them without having a clue what happened and who they are!!! and now you are posting these same guys beating Muay Thai. My friend you are very slow, but in the end the truth comes out...
@@FightCommentary There is video when Xu confronted by Chen "fighters" after Xu called out Chen Xiaowang a fraud. BTW those Chen fighters are from Chen Xiowang camp. It is well known that Xu Xiang challenge old or delusional he no fool to fight someone who knows how to fight.
@@FightCommentaryFirst of all, don't be arrogant, go and investigate!! These are Chen Xiaowang's nephews who caught Xu in a hotel because he was talking nonsense, and they challenged him and of course he didn't want to fight with any of them! These taichi guys definitely trained in full contact with sanda opponents. They're really experienced fighters

That Tai Chi guy seems an octopus, the way he catches kicks.
Not bad at all👍 they made catching kicks look very easy.

Yang Tai Chi has knee strikes - 'Golden Rooster stands on one leg' - immediately after the distinctive 'Snake Creeps Down' movement.
Sometimes it’s not the style, but the fighter in the fight and the fight in the fighter.
We learn these sweeps from the kick catch in Sanda

Yeah. Sounds about right!
in street fight muay thai guys lost. If they got thrown on the concrete floor multiple time, I don't think they would come back up.
That is why sanda is better than mauy thai
I never seen effective martial art tai chi in real fight b4
Ok this is pretty cool
there is knee in taichi, but it is also executes in grappling position not throwing knees

Looks like sanda to me?
Sanda vs Muay Thai
His entire martial art is about making people lose balance and fall. Making people fall is only 10% of what his opponent trains. He still struggles.
?
No Tai Chi chuan techniques or principles used. It's just Sanda.
Paid to lose? Last fight seemed off.
I agree. The last one seemed fake.
Why are you talking to me from the front of your door??
Because i needed daylight
In a street fight the tai chi guy wins because he would throw his opponent, and stay on top.
Hahahaha
Fixed fights?
Sanda
It seems that Muay Thai is only allowed to use punches and kicks. If it's like this, can it be called Muay Thai? I think it's kickboxing.
