Woaw we need to send this man to ultimate self defense championship as his approach is totally different than combat sports, quite impressive how will it fare against trained fighters and unrelenting pressure ? This is one the better exchange from Kevin on his great channel
actually with hammer fist, elbow and foot trapping you probably cannot go wrong. Some of them you have in kung fu too, like seven form fist or bak mei. Maybe wing chun stance could have saved your private parts, did you consider try it?
It is fun to use the previously learned focusing of energies in a completely different way in practical application, unobtrusively and yet very dominantly 💫😁🐺
The greatest thing with Alan Baker in my opinion is not his skills or body mechanics, razor sharp as they are, but his ability to flip the switch instantly. Look at his eyes, dude goes full primal and it even takes a while for him to reset to his friendly self.
It's not only about his movements, his whole energy, body language and demeanor changed.. You can see in his eyes he is a 100% sure he is able to destroy you, if you attack.. Looks so scary while watching from home, I can feel ur fear there Kevin... thank you for getting "beaten" up again and again so we can learn from it, love your videos and how far you would go to become better!
Third time watching this Kevin. Alan looks like the example of don't mistake his kindness for weakness. Great stuff you put out there. Cheers from Ottawa.
This is extraordinary. I absolutely love the triangle block and elbows, as well as leg control. Too many people think about their feet and fists and don't have control over the root of their body.
I love how he gives shout outs to styles that he's borrowed from, both out of respect and for others to be able to reference those styles for further learning.
@@Dredd-y6p I understand the point your trying to make but they're talking about legality in TRAINING, not the fight. Positioning during the escalation phase is completely realistic and something you should absolutely train. In self defense you need to use situational awareness to prepare yourself to act. In combat sports you train to position yourself and open up gaps in your opponents defenses. They're two applications of the same principle. You will do in a fight what you train in the gym and that's EXACTLY the time to think about legality. You should be training for what you expect to need in the situation you'd use it in. Legality is important in sports fighting and self defense and that's not even debatable.
If flailing limbs in defensive posture can be proved then self defence claims can be validated legally, regardless of the damage caused to the aggressor. The near/clear and present danger aspect (in the scenario of public transport, is also something which needs consideration) the option to move, get off should be considered before any confrontation as it will always come up. "Why didn't you walk away?" However in many instances the aggressor is usually the person who not necessarily initiates but doesnt back down.
Something tells me this man has done violence out of sheer malicious intent. You can't just flip a switch like that and go from a calm discussion to suddenly look like you're eager to add more bodies to your kill count. Was he a soldier maybe? His choice of clothes is also ready for combat. Hard boots, thick pants, a shirt that's hard to get a meaningful grip on.
but dog boxing uses the police dog tactics like dragging the opponent and trying to immobilize parts by locks, not sure if this video really counts there
Sifu Baker has such intensity of commitment and violence of action once a decision to act is made. He is truly a Master. Thank you for your hard work to bring this content to light
Damn Kevin. It looks like you got a lump on the forearm from one of those elbows and I was terrified for your knee. Really taking one for our education. Thanks man.
damn, his facial expression changes radically every time he's going. Doesn't feel like he's drilling, feels like he's going full throttle and intention every time. I wonder how they manage to "spar" or whatever with that kind of mindset
Hmmm… makes me think he attended one of Mick Coup’s C2 (Core Combatives) seminars then tried to come up with his own branded version. Mick’s work is solid. It definitely works. Strips everything down to bare bones and strengthens each part.
Incredible!! This should be a martial art taught to everyone from all ages and sizes. The elderly would have more chances of winning an encounter having more support than just standing up. This fighting style is is fighting on surfaces utilizing those surfaces to increase your base. The way to frame the body in a way that is socially acceptable blew my mind! This just expanded my view on what martial arts is. Understanding the environment and using it to your advantage!!!🤯🤯🔥🔥🔥
I would love to see Alan participate in the ultimate self defense championship. Keysi is a super interesting approach to self defense both from a practical and legal perspective, and I think it would be super fascinating to see it up against trained fighters
This guy is absolutly amazing. The technic is surely great but there is not such as best technic. However Instructor Alan Baker has kind of killer instinct that everybody feels respect and got scared quickly when fight starts.

This channel of yours has consistently amazing contents. And this particular session is amazing..... practical and methodical, and also effective against the opponent. It will be interesting how those movements translate to kata form (if we want to approach it from MA traditional approach). Watching this, probably it is better to know first the application in real scenarios before focusing in to kata forms ?
I wonder if they are useful for the knife scenario, a lot of times it went either well if the opponent got immobilized against a wall or the ground, or if the knife got kicked out of hand so far
the escape challenge to fight against multiple attackers and impact them hard enough or to grapple them into the opposite direction to create space for reaching the line. Till now i wonder, i could not map techniques from these three alone
Fantastic video! Your content is great and introducing us to masters across all styles. I would LOVE for you to do a long video with CIKGU MAUL MORNIE from Silat Suffian Beli Diri !!! His attacks and defense are devastating.
I trained keysi before the defense lab split. I feel like there was a couple of kernels of good ideas but when they ran out of basic meat and potatoes practical stuff, they started hammer fisting thighs and stuff and became less reputable
