Great videos Clive with. out your dedication and footage people wouldn't have a clue what was once there. Keep the videos coming Clive from a xminer find them very interesting same as the colliery iv worked at goldborne being the first we had over 50years of coyl reserves i worked on the face when i was 19 did my face training did a few years then went into the developments tunnelling i did that job till i ran out of pits to work at did 18years for NCB then 8 for Cementation remember few lads from hapton valley coming to Golborne like i say clive keep the videos coming and are history alive ⛏️⛏️🔨👍
Thanks Stephen. Yeh a few Valley lads went to Golbourn. Think they got arrested coming up the pit!!! Apparently my great uncle had a farm there...must be in 30's/40's as my dad used to go down as a kid. Happy memories of going up the E Lancs to Boston and Tech ..counting the pits off as we went
Cracking video learned a lot from this there is a marker stone half way down the forest side sadly thre people I knew who could've given me more info are sadly gone
The sound tracks Either come with video program or I buy them and the licence from content creators...sadly no proper names...the copyright issue can be difficult so I dont take any chances. Thanks for your encouragement
hi clive , i keep watching this video as i walk up here all the time being my local hillside .. so at approx 13:07 in the video where the actual quarry is whats the large hillside to the left ? ive always been curious about that big pointed hillside ..i wonder if that was a big tunnel at somepoint. ?
So where you were stood near Hill Top colliery there was a stone quarry with big metal stumps in the ground ..what were they ( at the top of the very steep incline ) I live just down below the incline so I'm often at the quarry 👍
As far as I can say Elaine and I don't know for sure but I took them to belong to what ever type of haulage operated on the tramway incline. It would have to be pretty well anchored with that gradient and weight of materials descending
Enjoyed that. Thanks Clive.
Very interesting and well presented, thank you for sharing.
You’re a walking encyclopaedia Clive, very interesting and fascinating stuff
i thoroughly enjoyed that as i have the others thanks
Thanks Chris, much appreciated
