The controversial news was released of the proposed plans for the biggest onshore wind farm in the country which is planned to be placed on the historic site of Rooley Moor. It is not my plan to get involved in the politics of this proposal.
The area is one of great historic interest covering thousands of years and as yet been largely untouched by archaeologists. My primary concern are for the industrial remains. Despite the bad weather we have a look at the old Rooley Moor colliery which potentially date from the 1740's. We finish our day off in Jubilee Park with the Clapgate colliery memorial for the three children drowned in the colliery back on 4th July 1838
