Everything about this show is just so warm, from the analogue nature of the board to the way that Bob says "You dare!" when the lad almost picked the J. Interestingly, this did happen in one episode, there was a neutral square, but the contestants filled up the entire board as they were the first, and last ones to ever do this.
I just saw Blockbusters appear in the movie This is England. Wow, this brings back memories. I used to watch this as a child. I was never any good at it! Fond memories :)
Have taken part when Bob conducted it in Dubai in early 80s [Courtesy: KT?!?. And, later in the local version "Capital Letters" at Ajman Studios. Good memories.
There's no real adolescent general knowledge quizzes, anymore... Only ego driven drovel , like reality and talent shows...Today, most kids know nothing, only what they see on social media...
Not often a question is incorrect. The question was “what did Neil Armstrong say was a small step for Man….” and they interrupted with the answer ‘step’. The question should have said “what did Neil Armstrong say was a small step for a man…”. If he had really said “for Man” then it wouldn’t make sense! It would have him saying “This is one small step for Man(kind) but one giant leap for Mankind”.
10:36 I've just noticed on the board on the 2nd row of letters are the letters O, R, A and C. Orac was the name of a fictional character from the sc-fi series Blake's 7.
Wonderful show. Some silly questions though such as "S" please Bob- What is a sudden police raid... answer "swoop". Could be Sting. Annoying program sometimes....
For some strange reason I woke up with the theme tune stuck in my head, so just watched this with my kids. What a nostalgic blast from the past.

Imagine winning a gold run and your prize is to go on holiday to North Wales😀😀😆
Better yet, Northern Norway!

Hahaha I was taking the mick out of that
I’m going on eBay to look for a blockbusters dictionary now. I want one
I used to play this game when I taught English as a foreign language. The Korean children I taught love this game.
I imagine they would love it!!
I remember playing it in French lessons, class vs class.
The Blockbusters theme music is S tier.. So good.
I can"t believe that this show was aired 31 years ago
It aired Even earlier than 1992 early 80s I think
1983 it started
@@mrnaughtycat It started in 1983 in the 3.30 slot before being moved to its more familiar 5.15 slot.
Bob's Blockbusters is back on Challenge Mon-Fri 4-5! 😁
cracked up once when there was a hexagon with FU in it, and the kid says 'FU please'
Yes it was one of my favourite too!!!❤it!
God I feel well old I used to watch this with mum in those days lol
I loved the series of blockbusters with Bob Holiness loved hearing his voice I had a crush on him in my prime time
I watched the original USA version in the 1980's, which Bill Cullins originally hosted. It's a fine show.
Karl Pilkington's Rockbusters brought me here...
It's a shame rockbusters never got a proper theme song, it was one of the only things blockbusters managed to do better.
Ah, so not only was Bob Holness a great saxophone player, did he also originate the design of the James Webb space telescope?
Ah,..back when Challenge showed more than just Pointless and Millionaire lol
And The Chase
And Bullseye
And The Price is Right
@@mango4606 I love Bullseye. We need more 😊
5 years ago... and TV quiz shows are STILL Pointless, Millionaire, and the Chase.....
Great show
loved this show
Boards of Canada fan here!
Used to do the hand jive dance to the theme🤣🤣
Used to watch this in my room bed cover over me in dark
Any particular reason for watching it that way?

What a beautiful young lady that Nicola was and probably still is.
Used to bore me to tears this show. Nice memories though
Oh, but each episode was only about "half-hour" :)
Do shut up complaining
But bob Holness tried to spice it up with all those set decorations they added - people were easily entertained in the early 90s
Have taken part when Bob conducted it in Dubai in early 80s [Courtesy: KT?!?. And, later in the local version "Capital Letters" at Ajman Studios. Good memories.
I love blockbustes
loved this show been watching series 2 on challange aswell
I am the Sharon. I'm sorry for being so cringeworthy.
No, no! You were charming. Hope you’re doing well.
Did you keep in touch with Stephen and Peter?
This Particular Series (The 10th Series) of Blockbusters (For Me) Always Stands Out from the Rest.
I'm here from Karl Pilkington to find out what real 'Rockbusters' sound like!
can't believe these guys nicked karl's idea
Right, sort of might go there on sundees, might walk yer dog round there, 'ave a taste of it
Right, I'm never doing this show again!
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking that Nicola was pretty!
“Yeah”
“Yes Bob”
“...yes Bob”

Bob was the daddy of UK TV 📺 presenting 🎉
Me and my brother called him Bob Hopeless.
their names were blow and bastard... did i hear that right lol
Sharon was alright 😊. Not cringey at all 👍🏻
I'll have a P please Bob... couldn't resist could she lol. And then gold runs are tough. Not sure I could've done it.
Do you too remember when we educated children in this country?
Bob's Blockbusters is back on Challenge Mon-Fri 4-5! 😁
18:03 - That's Blockbusters!
And now, here's the host of Blockbusters: Zeus.
No, that's not Bob Holness, that's Zeus.
Never thought it was fair 2 against 1.
It was to test whether the old adage "two heads are better than one" was true.
I went to Wyedean too!
Alternative title: Are Two Heads Better Than One?
Bob - will have a Pee until cannot Pee no more.
should have let her have "unconsciousness"
Unconsciousness means completely knocked out so that's why they didn't accept it
There's no real adolescent general knowledge quizzes, anymore... Only ego driven drovel , like reality and talent shows...Today, most kids know nothing, only what they see on social media...
Bob Holness was shit cool.
18:04 That’s Blockbusters
Any more clips from Challenge from this era?
Why was Peter dressed like Ian Botham ?
Here today 😊
These will all be about 50 year old now.
I was just thinking that same thing... I just turned 50, and was about their age when I watched this.... where did all those yesterday's go... 🤔😢
Ginger To Grey.🧑🦰🧑🦳😩
Why was it always two versus one? Never got that. I was like 12 when this was broadcast…
The idea was to test whether the adage of two heads being better than one was true.
...he eats cannibal. apparently !
His daughter did
I’ll have a P please bob. “ toilets are that way”

I'd like an R please Bob.
Which N is...
Excuse me - Did he say the guy on the right was called Peter Bastard ? :D
13:20 she says B
10:36 I've just noticed on the board on the 2nd row of letters are the letters O, R, A and C. Orac was the name of a fictional character from the sc-fi series Blake's 7.
planet earth
2 lads at the start, Peter Blow and Stephen Bastard?
Ah the second girl is compatible with both of the opposing team lol
18:00 do you think suppressor would have counted
Don't think they'd have had a choice. They'd have had to have accepted it since it's the correct answer ( _not_ 'silencer').
I have to say the one in the blue team on the right looks quite the knob
Could I have a P please Bob😂
"Still no flashing light"
Idk why the American version always had flashing lights even when there wasnt 2 lights close to eachother.
is this clip royalty free? looking for background atmos in a short film
Why Do All These Sixth Formers always Looked Like They Were In There In
30s,???.
Good old hole bobness!

13:22 she says B not P!
