1:45 for the actual video
Thanks man
Too long! And those games always look shite! I really hope nobody has actually downloaded
This comment should be pinned
Thanks. I've been actively put off from playing that game. Ads don't work anymore in this day and age.
LMAO after they talked about a minute about this game working like any other RPG and explaining how any fucking RPG works I was so putt off that I honestly lost any interest in the video
1:42 also how fitting is it the video about china is started with an ad about a mobile gacha game
made me stop watching at the 1 20 mark and down thumbed
Which was made in China. Seriously, all the questions about “Why Nintendo can’t seem to gain a foothold there despite many attempts” can be answered by the first minute or so of this video.
Japan : Innovation and Technology
China : Bootlegs and Regimen
@Velzek amongst all potential factors, I don't think having a declared advert is amongst the factors I would criticise about a channel such as DYKG.
No matter the quality of the advertised-game, it doesn't affect the quality of the content

That's not about Nintendo though. This is clearly a video focused on Nintendo in China
My fisrt and last console was a famiclone
Those things were even popular in Latin America! I should've known it was a Chinese bootleg, but it was always in English.
I remember hearing about the weird NVideo shield stuff, but I had no idea they had such a long history of wiggling into Chinese markets with these iQue consoles. This was super interesting!
Huh yeah
I love seeing people so interested but never come back to see comments.

The fact that the iQue player was deliberately made cheap so that the less fortunate could still have fun is really good to know.
I know this was a business tactic, but it's also super wholesome.
It's a fEeL gOoD sToRy.
Imagine buying a console for a grand total of 2 games
Even the Virtual Boy didn't do that bad
Yeah I thought Austrailia had terrible video game censorship issues but shockingly it seems the country behind Tiananmen Square might be worse.
the PS3 did that
No, but the Wii U did. Bayonetta and SSB4 were the only really good games on the system, and everyone's moved to SSB Ultimate so there's no point in playing that one anymore.
Want to play the best version of Bayonetta 1? Buy a Wii U. Want to play literally anything else? Buy anything except a Wii U. You want to play that exclusive Wii U game? No you don't, it's okay at best.
@@angolin9352 Bayonetta 1 and 2 are on Switch, with Bayonetta 3 soon to follow
All the Wii U has left is Splatoon (inferior to Splatoon 2, and hurt by the loss of Miiverse), Super Mario Maker (inferior to Super Mario Maker 2, and crippled by the loss of Miiverse), NintendoLand, Wii Sports Club, and Wii Fit U. (and worthless titles like Wii Party U, Mario Party 10, and Game & Wario)
The only titles I even play on my Wii U anymore are Call of Duty Black Ops 2 (which I have a ridiculously good combat record on compared to any other CoD I've played), and Need for Speed Most Wanted U (literally the last good game Electronic Arts ever put out)
@@TurboPikachu ZombiU had a pretty fun local multiplayer mode. The player on the TV was basically playing Nazi Zombies while the other player with the gamepad was the one placing zombies around the map.
"You endorse our product for atleast 90 seconds"
"Make sure to sound as emotionally invested as possible"
And why final fantasy xiv music in background? 🤔
I understand the need for sponsorships, but a 90 second advert is too much. I'm not that interested in the video.
And there's standard UA-cam ad triggers along with that.. there's a reason why there's a sponsored content checkbox when you upload
I don't know how to actually get this at the top but the Music during the ad isn't even the games music. It's from Final Fantasy 14
Is anyone else going to talk about the Sohm Al theme from FFXIV playing during the intro ad?
I was wondering which dungeon theme that was. God Heavensward was a good game.
I was almost thinking the game ad itself had the Sohm Al music in it. Nice theme either way
Keeper of the Lake also uses that song and i got flashbacks now thanks DYKG
Yeah I was wondering if they stole the track for their gacha add or DYKG added that to their video.
Lol!!
Mr Furukawa definitely has the right mindset. You can’t go swinging into a new market and always expect to succeed.
Would you like to see more videos that focus on subjects like this, or do you prefer traditional DYKG videos that focus on a single game/series?
I'd love more of these, especially with Mr. Weebl voicing them! 😍😍😍
Aslong as they don't have a 90 second sellout at the beginning sure that idle game is ass and you guys know it fuck it though aslong as the check clears right?

That music for the game you advertised is music from FFXIV.
Sohm Al!
Yeah I know, I used Sohm Al’s dungeon music! I love me some Final Fantasy XIV
Im glad someone else caught this. I couldnt put my finger on what dungeon it was though.
So China got the FF7 which would have fitted on a N64 cartridge. ;)
A Nintendo cartridge. I was under the impression that was fan made.
It is one hundred percent real, and it's delightful. On top of that, though, the company that made the bootleg FF7, Shenzhen Nanjing Technology, also made a port of Pokemon Yellow on the Famicom and a very odd version of Minish Cap that turns the game into a turn-based RPG, among many other games and demakes that I'm not going to mention without turning this post into a wall of text!
They're still alive to this day, and they're still making bootlegs, although from the look of their website it seems like they've shifted primarily to clone consoles.
It was built with the FF2(NES) engine and the combat suffered from unbalanced to-hit rolls
It was fun to look at tho

Just here to clarify: The footage of the FFVII Demake is actually a ROM hack of the chinese bootleg that translated it in english and changed the sprites and locations to match FFVII more.
The ACTUAL bootleg game has lots of weird stuff in it, like candles chandeliers in the reactor you are supposed to bomb in the beginning, is entirely in chinese and the sprites are off (Tifa has blue hair etc)
I recommend people to check the english translation of the bootleg out. It's legitimately good, unlike the unmodified bootleg that was sold in China.
Ah yes, I remember buying bootleg Game Boy games from China's street vendors when I was a kid. It was honestly a lot of fun seeing what was available, and if you knew what to look for, you could get legit fully functional games for super cheap. I managed to get Megaman Xtreme 2 for only US $5.
The bootleg NES systems have always been interesting to me, especially because they were really popular here in South Africa. They're still being manufactured and sold to this day
So glad I pay for UA-cam Premium and still have to deal with your longer and longer ads
pffffft paying YT for something u can just add adblocker to for free.

*But what about watching vids offline?*
Ever heard of the many sites to download YT vids off of?
FYI: YTs ad software tht is used for vids to help creators make more money, doesnt offer much anymore (if u hav been keeping up with the news the past 3 years). Reason why u see more and more vids getting sponsored and advertising their sponsors product within the vid itself. BC IT PAYS MORE THAN YTs AD REVENUE!

I use it on my desktop but on my phone I would rather just pay a little bit than have to always skip ads. Now it is slowly getting more and more common for channels to sneak ads everywhere in their videos. If a creator needs the money, they should make content that is good enough that people will want to buy merch or become a paid subscriber on here or patreon.
I'm usually all for channels getting sponsors, but that was a lllllooooooooonnnnnnggggg ad

@Kev Walthall That was a quote from Ed, Edd N Eddy.
Jackie Chan was known as the Little Tyrant?!?
Well, Jackie does admit in his autobiography that there was a period in his life as a young star during which he was a massive prick.
And then later in his life when he beat his children and disowned his daughter for being gay and cheated on his taxes. Dudes a real fuck.
Yoshi doesn't pay his taxes, and he isn't a "real fuck".
@ Andrew Badley Can you give me a link to the source you found this information from?
Andrew Badley
Is this true?
The FFVII 'port' while a clunky game on its own, is a really impressive achievement. There's a fan patch that improves on the game too.
Still mostly a novelty to play it today though.
This history is very similar here in Brazil. In 80's and 90's we've got a lot of famiclones like Phantom System, Turbo Game and Dynavision bocause of the very expensive taxes on games. Today, we still sell very clones like Polystation and Sega still sell Mester System and Mega Drive, by the TecToy Hands.
Let me clarify that the official consoles were expensive AF for the average Chinese person at the time, it was a flex to buy your children one, with some people buying the entire library of games (which wasn’t much) just to show off how much money you had.
China's video game history is really interesting. Especially the iQue
Especially interesting when you look into how involved iQue's founder was with Nintendo. He worked on the N64's hardware, led ArtX which made the GameCube's hardware, founded iQue of course, founded a company which was involved with the Wii Remote and Wii Remote Plus, and founded a company which handled part of Nintendo's 7th and 8th gen online services. Now hes on the board of Acer I think.
And no, please aware the video game distribution in Taiwan and Hong Kong are not the same as mainland China.
@@Mario123007 Well aware of that. Kind of the issue at hand.

DYKG, proving that you can't have an ad for Chinese mobile rubbish without stolen assets from proper games. In this case, the excellent FFXIV soundtrack.
Pretty sure they added that music through editing. And it wasn't through the game.
I might be wrong
But just saying
I went to China in 2008 and saw iQue products in the store.
I remember thinking that you could buy bootleg DVDs and stuff at reputable grocery stores here, so these must be bootlegs as well.
But even though I was young, I realized that these were unlike the other cheap knockoffs that I had encountered before. These had actual promotional images, and flyers that they handed out. I did keep one of those flyers, and even though I really wish I had bought an iQue machine now, I'm pretty happy that I kept the flyer

ARCADE THEATRE I’m playing it and I was just straight up confused lol!
I don’t know why Nintendo pushed their limits to enter into Chinese market and why didn’t they even bother to enter into Indian Market. In India there are no Nintendo bootlegs so there is no need for Nintendo to worry about loosing the market. And also most of the Indian resellers import Nintendo switch to sell it in India and several Indian gamers/streamers still buy them along with Playstation and Xbox.If they have made some move to enter into Indian market officially they could have competed with Playstation and Xbox in India.
The iQue WAS used by speedrunners a few years ago for ocarina of time, but thanks to new glitch discoveries in the virtual console version the iQue is now slower and obsolete
Why does the idle game have FFXIV music?
Wondering the same question, that's Sohm Al or something, right?
@@oldking8276 Correct. Sohm Al Normal.

The Chinese currency, "yuan" is pronounced exactly like it's spelled, not "won," which is the South Korean currency.
Interesting use of Final Fantasy XIV music in your ad there. Still skipped it, too long.
Honestly, mobile game companies are the WORST in their ad demands. Gus Johnson did a video on it, they're almost all insanely demanding and require anywhere from 1-2 minutes in the beginning of the video, or in some cases, an entire 10 minute video devoted to the game
Whats with channels shilling these crappy mobile RPGs?

fun fact, as Chinese, I played PS1, Sega SS, MD to PS2 ,XBOX360 throughout my childhood (they were bought by my father who really likes video games till this day) like most of my friends , we bought those consoles from local gaming store which imports consoles from Hong Kong, then when I grew up, we have XBOX ONE and PS4 PS5 etc officially released in China, then we use some methods to register PSN\XBOX accounts in Hong Kong to play more games which not available in mainland China.
By estimate, I think there were tens of millions consoles sold in China since 1990s.

I love in China. Nintendo Switch is incredibly here. You see it at Starbucks, in the metro, and even in classrooms. Many Chinese have additionally experienced the Wii and quite enjoyed it. Most Chinese are portable and PC gamers so they care little for console gaming outside the novel experiences brought by Nintendo. PS4s only really remain popular in coastal areas.

The iQue usage in speedrunning community is so much more interesting than just different text and loading times.
The system is essentially official clone system of N64, made inside much smaller shell with less cooling, and after GC's release, so, better chips could be manufactured for it than originally specced at 90's. (Yes, some people have surmised that the cooling N64 has even for it's older parts may be overkill in Nintendo fashion)
This ends up meaning that iQue has very unique, more modern built system on a chip version of N64's main components that is actually slightly faster than normal N64 or official emulation such as Virtual Console based on that hardware. This can cause unique speed differences between certain heavy scenes, most famously for Ocarina speedrunning, the tower fall scene being rendered so fast and lag free on iQue that the sounds of the scene desync, as it was originally timed with the lagginess of the scene in mind - saving a lot during speedruns that needed to view this scene, which may not be a thing anymore in current any% routes and such on 2021 as there is a skip inside the Ganon's tower, as far as I understand.
To be fair, the Ique64 is probably one or my favorite piece of hardware
