I was in a certain kind of hospital. They had a paper mural of marine life under waves. With the colored markers they allowed us to have I colored a beluga whale a royal dyed purle with a belly of beautiful gold using a bronze and then bright yellow marker. I colored two dolphins light blue and pink respectively, both with blushes on their cheeks. They were from a video game that I liked watching my girlfriend play, so when other young people (I was the youngest there in my early twenties) were admitted they knew someone was there, and that they could be alright. Thank you for reading.

I'm fighting through a depression right now for the second time in my life, with professional help this time. This video captures the madness and loneliness that I feel very well. The idea of depression sometimes feels like explaining that aliens are real. People can't see your thoughts or feelings, but to me, they are my daily reality. I hope I can say goodbye to the voices of my Starmaker, Dreammaker and my Spaceman soon.
@@ellenstar1155 this song is so beautiful and that beauty lies in the fact that its a really accurate representation of how it feels to live through suicide. I have autism. And while I wake up everyday and smile and help my coworkers, these thoughts race through my head at this time of night. About how dysfunctional I am, how different I perceive things. It is a painful thing when you can understand and sympathize with someone having a bad day, but you can't convey your own feelings and show them support. It hurts that everyday speaking to others is a struggle: I worry I'll say something to upset them. It hurts being brilliant on the inside, but being incapable of sharing my knowledge with others. The things I say or do, don't match what's in my head. My boss doesn't understand why I thank her everyday for letting me work there. Most people like me are confined to low paying jobs, or unemployment, or even left to die in negligent abusive group homes. But somehow I work there, as a Licensed and Certified Pharmacy Technician.
I always want to thank people for giving me the time of day because I feel I must be so difficult to handle. Thanks for posting this i have autism too and I have many of these same feelings. Been listening to this song on repeat for months now haha.
Bill Gene Soon My son has autism. He is not able to live alone or hold down a job, but thanks to him I am a much better person. There is nothing wrong with you; you are exactly who you should be. Hang in there!
This song is my favorite from them. What’s crazy is, because of how nice the music is, I used to always listen to this song during happier times. But now, when things are feeling rough in life, the lyrics scream out to me, and I can’t listen to this song without crying. It’s crazy how songs can make you feel so different depending on your mood and what you’re going through in life.
So many Killers songs are like that - I just think of a lyric and suddenly the song is playing in my head for hours and I want to cry screaming, but it feels so good - like a hand of a good friend on my shoulder, saying "it's fine, I've been there too, let it out"
12 years ago I heard this song on the radio, I liked it so I took my flip phone, recorded it and said to myself "I'll look for it when I have time", I was searching through my old things for some documents and found my phone from that time, I cleaned it and put it to charge, luckily it turned on, looking through files I found the recording I made of this song, it took me 12 years but I finally found it
I can’t help but sob when I listen to this. My entire life- I feel forced to be happy, and I am. But in someways I just wanna cry, but I never show it, even as the world rips me apart. But this song has provided some form of comfort to me. That I am not alone.
+MrSwadloon Hey man! Could you please help me with a question? I don't speak a good english so I don't understand some things like: What is the meaning of "So hesitation to this life I give"? And what is the meaning of "My global position systems are vocally addressed? please !!! I love this band
I think "so hesitation to this life I give" means he won't make such rash decisions (like attempting suicide, though I've never heard the band say it, lots of people think this song is about a failed suicide attempt, and so do I). i dont really know what "my global position systems are vocally addressed" means
This is how I interpreted the song. I honestly interpreted it as a song about a man who had a completely normal life. The man was offered a chance to go on an adventure and after the adventure he accepted he would never be able to return to his normal life and the song is about how much the adventure changed him and wants to go on an adventure again
this was the song that got me into the killers. I heard human first and didn't like it much (I do now!) but when I heard this for the first time I absolutely loved it and it convinced me to look into more of their stuff. been a fan for many many years now!
This song came out when I was 15, right after I got out of the mental hospital for attempted suicide and I remember feeling like it was about me. It's just so true to my experience, and the experience of so many others, and I love it!
exactly! Ive been in a psych hospital multiple times and this song just fits so well. I don't understand why everyone gets so upset when people say it's about suicide
I had a nervous breakdown a year ago thinking I had died I was in someone's backyard I thought I was in purgatory that is until the cops came with their guns pointed and I told him just f****** kill me you know I wanted to die but I didn't want to put that guilt on them so I just went with them and they put me in hospital but I was in hospitals for like 5 months I'm back and I'm doing better than ever. I'm back and I'm doing great I just want to say there is a way Jesus was a help to me but I've been there I've been at the point where I wanted to die and I've had the chance and I made the right decision. Don't make the wrong decision there is a out help is the way out.
The Killers played a big part in me moving to Las Vegas been a fan of these guys since their beginning takes me back to when I grew up in the 80s their sound is so similar to them.
Best killers song for me, makes me feel happy even though it's about depression, it's uplifting at the same time. It really relates with me and I go mental when I hear it 😂
I didn’t pay much attention to this song for ages and then I saw this video and I’ve just loved it ever since. It seems so innocent and quirky but it’s helped a lot of people who were in a bad place. I come back to watch it often
When I was 9 years old I watched this video for the first time on MTV and I waited every day to watch the video because I liked it a lot but I never got interested in knowing what the band was called or the song. Time passed and playing Guitar Hero I met When You Were Young and I fell in love with this song but this time I did search about the band, I remember that I entered UA-cam and searched the band and all the songs that I listened to I liked, later I heard Spaceman and it was a wonderful moment at that moment I knew that I had listened to The Killers and I had not realized it. This song was the one that made me totally love this wonderful band❤️
I love how at 3:10 Brandon seems to break through the façade of trying to make his life seem okay and he realizes that that everything is not really okay ❤
@@joaofilipeferreira1279 You know that I was hoping That I could leave this star-crossed world behind But when they cut me open I guess that changed my mind
@@Natthie391 Right? All these people are saying it's about suicide... How? If you interpret the lyrics in a nonliteral way, you'll see Starmaker means that his life is not that bad. At the same time, the dream maker is the side of him that wants even more, And then the spaceman shows up and makes him realize that at the end of the day none of these problems really matter when it could be worse.
I'm 18 years, and a can't even explain what that song means to me, in my first panic crises I heard voices, was so scary, and every time o hear that voices again, saying fot me to do bad things to myself, I listen to this song and a realize that it's all just in my mind and nothing is real. thanks the killers for that ❤
I remember this coming out my senior year in HS and it just spoke to me so much. The Killers have been in my life since 2004 and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This song is so inspirational. It tells us how precious life is and sometimes we don’t even realize it. Definitive action is never a solution for temporary problems.
Thank you The killers for singing the song "spaceman" on this day, October 5. Thank you for the excellent concert, thank you for inviting Franz Ferdinand, greetings and I traveled from the city of Puebla, Mexico ❤🎉😊
Seriously guys this is about a suicide attempt, NOT religion or any dead person. You can check out some interviews with the Killers and find out which band member inspired this song. It was genius to draw metaphors between suicide and alien abduction. This is probably one of their best written songs, lyrically. Wordsmiths indeed.
Eli Olsen thanks but they have said this an interview about a certain member. They discussed the Day & Age album track by track. I'd just hate to say his name on here. Plus, if you watch this live, Brandon sings the second verse like he's trying to say "better not do it". It's not so bad. ;)
Thats nice and all but just because they say something in an interview doesnt make it true. Have you watched katy perry's documentary?? Not even half of that movie is true. Enough said on that. You can think that its about a suicide if you want, it doesnt matter to me. But im telling you right now its not. There is a second language, a subliminal language used to write not only this song, but many of their songs and many other popular songs by many artists. I know because i use this language myself in all the music i write. Like i said i can break down every line of this song to you if you e mail me. I dont tell someone im right unless i know i am and why i am.
Eli Olsen Hey I didn't mean to start an argument with you or anyone on UA-cam for that matter. Songs can mean different things to different people so you can believe whatever you want. Music is art, after all. I just wanted to share what the artists have said about the song as I noticed that a lot of comments here are discussing on the song's meaning. Naturally, what the artists had in mind when they wrote the song would help. I have watched Katy Perry's documentary but I don't think anyone else other than her can say how "true" that all was so best leave Ms. Perry out. Again, I apologize if I've offended you in anyway. I have no doubt in my mind that you can break down this song line by line. I just believe it could be so much more taken together. After all, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Thank you for replying to me though, I appreciate your thoughts. Goodluck on your songwriting and happy holidays, Eli. :)
I promise you i wasnt arguing and you didnt offend me. Saying that only the person who wrote or made something can be the person who knows what the meaning is, is like saying only the magician who made the magic trick can figure out how to do that exact magic trick in the exact same way. I'm sorry but that is just not true. He might very well be talking about a suicide attempt also. But im not going off of what they have said in an interview. Or for that matter in the case of what i had said about Katy Perry's documentary, in the same way im not going off of what she was saying or not saying. (Because most of her music is using the same language that the killers have used in this, and other songs) Im going off of the "magic tricks" that i see and Im telling you what they are. When you say/show something to the masses you need to do it in a way that wont give away the secret to the "magic trick." Because you want the trick to work. And it worked! for both The Killers and Perry. And if somebody is going to figureout a magicians magic trick, dont you think it would be another magician? When i said i can break down each line of the song i wasnt talking about separating them, i was talking about showing what he is really talking about, AS A WHOLE, by simply showing what he means in every line. EVERY SINGLE PIECE of the music video is much more meaningfull then just a suicide attempt. you just need to know the "magic" they are using to see the "tricks" for what they really are. Again i promise im not arguing, i dont argue. When i could be wrong, i say "I dont know, you could be right." And when i know im right i state the facts and the truth. But maybe all of what im saying is falling on deaf ears. Beacause it is obvious to me that you have NO IDEA what im even talking about, am i right? Your eyes have probably been shut, like most people, for so long that you actually believe everything you see and just accept it as fact because you've seen it. But let me ask you something, does a magician actually perform "magic"? or does he simply do what he knows he can make you believe?
1st listen 10 years ago: "I don't like it." 2nd listen 10years ago: "well, the chorus is okay." 3rd listen now: "kinda catchy." 4th listen: "Actually it's good from start to finish." 5th listen: "This might be the best song I've heard in a long time." Now it's on permanent replay :)
This is a fantastic song to share with anyone who is in a slump or just needs a slight perspective shift. We all get stuck sometimes whether we voice it or not. Music is such a gift (for all occasions and situations there is a song)It's surprising this song is not more well known.
It’s all a facade, in the end. Fame, fortune, and notoriety. You’re just left alone and isolated. That’s the funny part of modern social media- it’s like a way to pretend to be a celebrity influencer. No achievement, little talent, just a big dose of narcissism. I love this song
How do you pick a favorite Killers song? Too damn difficult! And doesn't anyone think that Brandon is up there as the best looking front man of all time???

Spanish lyrics: Empezó con una luz baja Lo siguiente que supe fue que me sacaron de mi cama Y después tomaron mi tipo de sangre Eso dejó una sensación extraña en mi cabeza Tu sabes que yo estaba esperando Que pudiera dejar atrás este frustrado mundo Pero cuando me abrieron Supongo que cambió mi opinión Y tú sabes que tal vez haya Flotado demasiado lejos del suelo esta vez ′Cause they're calling me by my name And they′re zipping white light beams Ignorando bombas y satélites Y eso fue el punto de cambio Esa fue una solitaria noche El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal" El creador de sueños te hará enfadar El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo" "It′s all in your mind" Well, now I′m back at home and Estoy esperando por está vida que vivo You know it′s gonna haunt me Dudando de la vida que doy Tú crees que puedes cruzar al otro lado Estás atrapado entre el demonio y el hondo mar azul Mejor dale otra mirada Antes de dar ese salto And you know I′m fine Pero escucho esas voces en la noche A veces justifican mi reclamo Y el público no vive en mi transmisión ′Cause it wasn't televised Pero ese fue el punto de cambio Oh, qué noche tan solitaria El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal" The dream maker′s gonna make you mad El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo" "It′s all in your mind" El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal" The dream maker′s gonna make you mad El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo" "Está todo en tu mente" Mia sistemas de posicionamiento global son dirigidos vocalmente Dicen que el Nilo solía correr de Este a Oeste Dicen que el Nilo solía correr De Este a Oeste I′m fine Pero escucho esas voces en la noche A veces El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal" The dream maker′s gonna make you mad El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo" "Está todo en tu mente" El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal" The dream maker′s gonna make you mad El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo" "It′s all in your mind" Todo está en mi mente It′s all in my mind
"El creador de estrellas" may have to be something like "hacedor de tormentas" instead, as Flowers has since clarified that the chorus starts with "The storm maker", not "star maker."
My favorite tuning of that guitar tuning and bass tuning when I see lights are bright white in the dark. 👍🏻😊. The lyrics are awesome, but the music video is equally great. I love how it depicts that according to the viewpoint of the story teller, everybody else is acting weird, while they are all having fun. No matter how hard and actively he tries to act along, feel along and find his company, he still ends up being lonely, left alone with his thoughts.

My boss doesn't understand why I thank her everyday for letting me work there. Most people like me are confined to low paying jobs, or unemployment, or even left to die in negligent abusive group homes. But somehow I work there, as a Licensed and Certified Pharmacy Technician.
Bill I feel the same. I am not autistic. I do not understand humans. I highly suggest you just dance it out 🙂 Hang in there
I always want to thank people for giving me the time of day because I feel I must be so difficult to handle. Thanks for posting this i have autism too and I have many of these same feelings. Been listening to this song on repeat for months now haha.

That one last look, just perfect.
the drummer did an incredible performance, just love the drum beat changes through the song.
Very, very true
So many Killers songs are like that - I just think of a lyric and suddenly the song is playing in my head for hours and I want to cry screaming, but it feels so good - like a hand of a good friend on my shoulder, saying "it's fine, I've been there too, let it out"
God, God, God! GOD
Spot on
12 years ago I heard this song on the radio, I liked it so I took my flip phone, recorded it and said to myself "I'll look for it when I have time", I was searching through my old things for some documents and found my phone from that time, I cleaned it and put it to charge, luckily it turned on, looking through files I found the recording I made of this song, it took me 12 years but I finally found it
I guess that's one of the best feelings in life
I can’t help but sob when I listen to this.
My entire life- I feel forced to be happy, and I am. But in someways I just wanna cry, but I never show it, even as the world rips me apart.
But this song has provided some form of comfort to me. That I am not alone.
My favorite killers song
And at 3:49 he's just dancing with stuffed pugs lol

+MrSwadloon Hey man! Could you please help me with a question? I don't speak a good english so I don't understand some things like: What is the meaning of "So hesitation to this life I give"? And what is the meaning of "My
global position systems are vocally addressed? please !!! I love this band
I think "so hesitation to this life I give" means he won't make such rash decisions (like attempting suicide, though I've never heard the band say it, lots of people think this song is about a failed suicide attempt, and so do I). i dont really know what "my global position systems are vocally addressed" means
MrSwadloon thank you very much!
do you noticed that this guy with the blonde wig thrown away a "pug" after the other guy next him attempted to stop him and fight a little?
This is how I interpreted the song. I honestly interpreted it as a song about a man who had a completely normal life. The man was offered a chance to go on an adventure and after the adventure he accepted he would never be able to return to his normal life and the song is about how much the adventure changed him and wants to go on an adventure again
"The public don't dwell on my transmission because it wasn't televised"
possibly my favorite line
Yeah no one cares until they see
this was the song that got me into the killers.
I’m glad you are both better now and hope your lives stay positive!
Feel you and the song sooo much
15? Why?
They're such an underrated band.

No, not at all. People who claim everything is underrated are just verbally challenged.
4:13 That final shot of Brandon looking so forlorn with all the craziness around him really hits me.
The Killers played a big part in me moving to Las Vegas been a fan of these guys since their beginning takes me back to when I grew up in the 80s their sound is so similar to them.

Mr. Flowers beautiful voice always lifts me up!!!
So many years have passed, but this song still takes me back to the fabulous 2009. Like a time machine. Thank you Brandon.
Best killers song for me, makes me feel happy even though it's about depression, it's uplifting at the same time. It really relates with me and I go mental when I hear it 😂
This song is so underrated.

I fucking loved this song when it came out. The drum roll before the chorus always made me beat on my steering wheel.
this song is so underrated. I love it!
Thank you to the the killers for making this song and helping me get through my depression
Brandon looks incredibly gorgeous in this video.
Agree! Especially at 4:14
They transmit so much joy to my soul. I feel understood and saved. "It's all in my mind"

Me encanta The Killers desde que tengo 16 años, ahora tengo 27. Son únicos.

Everday I listen to this song.....it's been going on for a decade. A person needs to listen to the Killers every day.
my alarm clock is set to play Killers, every morning
Never felt so well understood and touched by a song
I'm 18 years, and a can't even explain what that song means to me, in my first panic crises I heard voices, was so scary, and every time o hear that voices again, saying fot me to do bad things to myself, I listen to this song and a realize that it's all just in my mind and nothing is real.
thanks the killers for that ❤
I will always love this song, it got me through some dark, dark times.

It's not so bad. ;)
hard to believe considering how uplifting the song sounds.
Been my favourite killers song for close to a decade now, what a goddamn good song

′Cause they're calling me by my name
And they′re zipping white light beams
Ignorando bombas y satélites
Y eso fue el punto de cambio
Esa fue una solitaria noche
El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal"
El creador de sueños te hará enfadar
El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo"
"It′s all in your mind"
Well, now I′m back at home and
Estoy esperando por está vida que vivo
You know it′s gonna haunt me
Dudando de la vida que doy
Tú crees que puedes cruzar al otro lado
Estás atrapado entre el demonio y el hondo mar azul
Mejor dale otra mirada
Antes de dar ese salto
And you know I′m fine
Pero escucho esas voces en la noche
A veces justifican mi reclamo
Y el público no vive en mi transmisión
′Cause it wasn't televised
Pero ese fue el punto de cambio
Oh, qué noche tan solitaria
El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal"
The dream maker′s gonna make you mad
El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo"
"It′s all in your mind"
El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal"
The dream maker′s gonna make you mad
I′m fine
Pero escucho esas voces en la noche
A veces
El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal"
The dream maker′s gonna make you mad
El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo"
"Está todo en tu mente"
El creador de estrellas dice "no está tan mal"
The dream maker′s gonna make you mad
El hombre del espacio dice "Todos miren abajo"
"It′s all in your mind"
Todo está en mi mente
It′s all in my mind
"El creador de estrellas" may have to be something like "hacedor de tormentas" instead, as Flowers has since clarified that the chorus starts with "The storm maker", not "star maker."
