A little known fact - Sean Smith (the IT guy), was a massive member of the Eve Online gaming community, just before the attack he was online talking to his online friends - and the last message he put in chat was "fuck.... gunfire"
Since his passing the community memorialised him in game and members of the gaming community helped to raise $127k for his his family.

RIP Vile Rat - too bad in the movie they show him playing a COD-style game, probably because it's more recognizable as a videogame.

The first time I heard about Vile Rat was when we were farming our sites in the Wormhole and then in the morning the news came that people had died in Bengazi.
We have always been enemies with Goons, but on the "blue" day we also voted blue in solidarity with Vile Rat Goons.
I still play EvE today, and sometimes there are conflicts in the world.
There are also people who are not as well known as Vile Rat and still play the game. Just makes me sad, knowing how many People dying out there.

This could have been avoided had the US done more to not allow Khadafi to be ousted. Yes, he was a dirtbag dictator, but he kept a sense of order. Hillary Clinton demonstrated that she was the most imcompetent Secretary of State in US history with the way this was handled.
It also didn't help that Obama decided that his reelection was more important to him than the lives of US citizens who were in Benghazi.
This film tells the story of what happened to those Americans who were there, but failed to tell why Obama and Clinton are to be blamed.

Its not that their were failures of intelligence, decision making, and planning. Or even that the "people upstairs" were denying them help.

Mark "Oz" Geist was on the Shawn Ryan Show not that long ago. That dude had some serious stories, not just soldier ones. Sarah Adams was also just on the same show describing the intelligence around this event.
Eric Prince have some actual good opinions on contractors. Not that weird considering who he is. The "they're just contractors so it doesn't count" doesn't hold up if you think about it at all. The only reason they exists is to fill the gaps in capability, security and manpower that it would cost the government too much to fill. So they turn to the private sector to solve that problem.
The best example is a Delta Force story. There were either 2 or 3 of them, along with 10 or so local militia in an African country. They were the only American soldiers in the entire country and the operation had been so sudden there had been no planning, they simply went to help the militia with the terrorists they were tracking. They came under fire and were able to call in support from an aircraft carrier they knew were operating along the horn of Africa. That's why a contractor "get's paid more", they don't get to commandeer aircraft carriers so the government can afford to pay them a little more than a soldier.

This is one of the biggest political betrayals of US servicemembers and US citizens in recent history.
I researched this event in detail and dug as deep as I could. This movie is extremely accurate to the actual events that happened. The only differences I found were the name changes of Jack Silva, because at the time the book was written, Jack hadn't retired from the CIA yet, so his identity needed to be protected. And CIA Station Chief Bob was a name change because the men who wrote the book, who fought that night, had no desire to make a hit job or slander his name as if they have a personal grudge against him. They simply wanted the truth out there.
These men and women went through absolute hell and were betrayed by their superiors, commanders and politicians at every level and in every way.

    In Flanders Fields
    by Lt Col John McCrae
(his best friend had been killed the day before he wrote this poem)
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

As a son of a military father (navy), and being part of a life long military family (Navy,Air Force ,and Army) . I can honestly say it's times like this that make me love my country and hate my government. Doesn't matter whether Obama didn't order help. Or Hillary failed in her duties. At some point, people of all ranks and branches of the military and government were to quick to follow bad orders and cover their own asses. This time we lost a beloved ambassador, two ex military and current civilian security contractors, plus 1 state department personnel. Forever effected 31 peoples lives. Paid out millions of dollars in disability claims, medical bills, and therapy. Yet not one person was ever held accountable.
Because of this failure, the lies that spread from the Obama White House. Years later we repeated this same situation when exiting Iraq. Yet again, no one was ever held accountable. Not one person that should have lost their job did, and the American public wasn't to concerned about holding those that screwed up responsible.
Gone are the days of high ranking military leaders that knew when to follow an order and when to just say, "You can court marshall me if we make it out alive, Sir!" Too many times, I have watched sailors exit ships in their dress whites coming home from tour. The planes filled with service men and women coming back from deployment. Yes, I even have made the effort to go and welcome the coffins as they are removed from the belly of a plane. I have seen the tears of joy, fear, and sadness in the eyes of too many families to count, including my own. It will always be my honor and duty to welcome these brave men and women home until I can not, any longer. Too reach for their hand, look them in the eyes, and truly thank them for their service.

Some international workers there were not allowed to bring their own security so they used “technical assistance grants” to hire local help, usually in the form of an armed vehicle like the one in this movie. So, the term “technical” stuck and now refers to any armed vehicle, usually with a mounted machinegun like in this scenario.

They requested that the CIA and a quick reaction force less than 6 blocks away rescue them and send air support and Hillary Clinton said no to both requests because, "she didn't want to risk an international incident". After this tragedy occurred which included the torture and murder of our ambassador and those that died defending the embassy a reporter asked Hillary about Benghazi, she had been caught in numerous outright lies previously in her efforts to cover up her jncompetence. She angrily replied, "Who even cares now? What does it matter?" He repeatedly lied to his guys and wasted more than enough time that was needed to respond to the compound and potentially save the lives of the Ambassador and Mr. Smith. Such an intense movie. Can't imagine what was going through their heads. The threat of being overrun must have been overwhelming. I can't think of anything worse than being overrun and drug through the streets to your death by those monsters. I know the training helps massively, but my palms get super sweaty every time ive seen this.
