Yes Sara, Yukon gold potatoes are the best for making tater salad. I also grew up on Miracle Whip. Yuck. Strictly Mayo for me. Here on the West coast Hellman’s Mayo is called Best Foods Mayo.

I’ve learned to cook so many things at home since covid started and you are so happy and inspirational. I wanted to share a family staple recipe with you but don’t see a way to message on here. You may have already made it! We call it skillet macaroni. Basically, ground beef, onions, green peppers, tomato sauce and diced and Worcestershire sauce. Keeping rocking on!!! Edit: oh! And macaroni noddles!!

I make a twice baked potato dish without the skins. Has the same things as yours, I just put it in a baking dish and cook it on four hundred for twenty five minutes. Thanks for sharing.
It's really not hard to make your own. Tastes way better and you are in total control of ingredient quality. That's the sort of informative video she could be posting, but no, it's all just reheating precooked processed food and sloshing around jars of goo.

Probably a combination of things causing that. You're cooking taters too long and you're stirring them too much. But if I had to best guess, I would say you're cooking them too long and maybe cutting too small..maybe? Just a thought..
If mush is your issue. After you cook them,( but not too long) Stop the cooking process by running under cold water then put in your fridge for a few hours or overnight. Then cube. Perfect taters every time.I use Yukon Gold potatoes. More flavorful,no need to peel as the skin is so light and thin as you mash, they just disappear and they hold together better than Russet. Also a tasty tip, don’t mix with blender, bowl mixer or hand mixer. Mash the old fashioned way with a hand potato masher, using the others whips up too much starch and affects the taste.. Add your milk first. WARMED.Mash a little, then your butter. Continue to mash until desired. For super duper mashed potatoes. To every 5 lbs. of Yukon Gold potatoes, add a softened 8 oz brick of creamed cheese. You can half the recipe to 2.5 lbs of potatoes and 4 oz. cream cheese. I’m a caterer and this version is always a hit!

Never looking at prices, and paying for it with a food stamp card. The extreme weight, DOES pose health risks. And quite possibly would improve if they lost weight.
I don't like skin on my potato salad. My grandma when she was a live made the best potato salad in the world to me anyways. I loved it and she would make it almost every Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. I have another potato salad that I think is the best in the world now and that is the one that my fiance makes. We are going to be making potato salad next Thursday. I can't wait. I am craving it right now. We will be doing it a lot differently then yours though.

Try a firmer potato. Russets typically fall apart when cooked (they’re great mashed or baked). A Yukon gold would be perfect for this.

I always boil the potato and then cover them and put them in the refrigerator to cool. Then I make my Mayo mix and put it in :)

Miracle whip is absolutely disgusting. I tried it once because that was all they had to offer for a sandwich. I could NOT eat it.

This is my recipe I add to this seasoning garlic powder, dry basil in the shaker, dried Italian seasoning, a few dashes of lemon juice salt and pepper

Try using Ukon Gold potatoes.
Mix everything except the potatoes together first and then add the potatoes and fold them in gently.
