The Railway Children is my favourite childrens book. I visited Haworth and the railway a few years ago. I always remember the steep cobbled hill to the station. Fabulous memories for me. Thanks Patrick.
@@solitaryrambler I am going to Haworth again this year on my Yorkshire trip. Just wanted to ask if the childrens walk starts at the station , is it circular and how long is it? I noticed you went back to the station before viewing the tunnel. We are arriving on the train so hope it will be possible to do the walk then instead of the parsonage as I went there before and don’t think I want to walk up those cobbles again. Although I admire the sisters for doing it regularly.
Howorth village a great location to write a Sat of books.great landscapes love some of the Brontee tales nice landscape for the walked in Yorkshire.Nice walk today thanks.
Howorth trip great views and history love this. Area great memories and walks with friends and earlier with my family in the 1960s.Went to railway train journey .Great days great scenery and company. We had a steam railway at Stoke on Trent when younger. Thanks for today trip Sunday 1st November2020
Great see the railway with stream rather than the electric now.The parsonage museum a nice place to visit.Good times Yorkshire,. How the a great place to visit thanks Patrick., . .
Haworth looks a most incredible place with it's steeply graded streets, Patrick. There certainly seems to be a lovely collection of small shops in the place. It was good to see the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway in operation. I believe that this is one of the most visited steam railway preservation sites in Britain. It was extremely good of you to show us some of the locations of where the film 'The Railway Children' were taken. Loved that film, when it came out. Anyway, this has been a most splendid video indeed, thank you.
Your videos are always a real pleasure to watch and take in. And as someone who has always loved Haworth Bronte Country and the wonderful and timeless movie The Railway Children this particular walk and video was a real treat for me. Thankyou.
Thanks for the great comments Ian! :) It's hard to believe it's nearly three years since I went to Haworth to film this! The particular film actually remains one of my very favourites. I especially enjoyed being in Haworth and following the Railway Children Walk to film it. Thanks again Ian for watching. Cheers, Patrick :)
I just wanted to say Patrick I'm so glad I stumbled on to your films literally! on UA-cam, the pleasure & enjoyment I get from them is immeasurable. Thank you. Evelyn.
Loved this video. I’ve spent many a happy weekend in Haworth, working as a volunteer on the Keighley and Worth Valley Light Railway’s ‘civils’ team. Paul Beachcrof
What a wonderful film. I'v never been here, and only ever seen the views of the town at the top of the hill,so it was lovely to see some of the surrounding area,a great idea for a day out and walk. I had absolutely no idea about the connection with the Railway Children,or that there was a walk you could do,I must do that this summer if I get over this stupid illness that's dragging on,thanks so much for sharing Patrick you've inspired me to get out here,I saw this week on the Yorkshire local news that the tourist information centre here has just closed due to cuts and that it's now an empty shop, what a shame. Thanks Patrick. Pete.
This one was my favourite from 2015. You can download a PDF file of the Railway Children Walk, which is what I did when I was researching for this film before I went to Haworth to shoot it. May you soon recover Pete to visit this wonderful place for yourself. Cheers, Patrick :)
Me and my partner Ann loved watching this video of yours again today Patrick. Haworth Oxenhope and Bronte Country is a very special place to us both and because of the current lockdown and the fact we are unable to visit our favourite places right now your videos have come to mean even more to us, and they always bring back very special memories of our own. Take care stay safe and keep up the great work.😊
Thanks for watching again Ian. I love Haworth and the surrounding area very much too, although I've only ever been about 3 times, excluding this occasion when I travelled there to make this film. Glad it's able to bring something to you and others whilst we are all in this crazy time. All the best and stay safe. Cheers, Patrick :)
I was there on Saturday ... My friends told me to visit Hebden Bridge instead. I could do one within a a day only. But I m happy I did Haworth because I love writing and I was truly inspired by the literature here, everywhere!! your video is also very good and high quality.
Just as we remember it Patrick, it was heaving when we visited last year , we went into the church , found that very interesting as some members of the Bonte family are buried within the church itself ..we parked ourselves on a bench just up from the parsonage for some refreshment and the views were stunning ...Haworth was the location of my tardis picture that i posted on facebook a while back , Loved all the footage around the keighley and worth valley railway ..thank you once again Patrick , also did you notice the sphere in the local park was made of coins .... nice thing ..Frank and Lee ...
I didn't realise that sphere was all coins, I took another look and I can see now! I remember your Tardis pic on FB, didn't realise it was Haworth. This film is one of my very favourites, certainly my fave of the ones I shot in 2015. I really enjoyed my day of filming in the lovely Haworth and the Railway Children Walk. It was a real bonus too capturing a few shots of the steam trains as they travelled along the railway. Thanks for watching and sharing your comments Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)
Thank you very much for a fantastic video. Me and my Wife visited Haworth several years ago and it was indeed lovely, but very, very busy which is my only (minor) criticism but well worth a look. We were unaware of the Railway Children walk (Still love that movie even today) so that will be on the list. Hope you are safe and well.
Glad you enjoyed it Jeff, this is one of my favourites. I found details of the Railway Children Walk online some years back before I came here to film this. Hope you get there one day. Thanks for watching. Keep well and stay safe :)
