Easier fix for the intermittent issue is to use note blocks instead of building blocks next to your ingredient droppers to give them block updates and prevent the budding issue.
@@totalshadow0 note block solved it for me, thanks! Edit: solved it, then it's still doing the same thing. 😩 Edit edit: for anyone who comes along afterwards, the only way I've made it work is to use note blocks along with his fix in the other video to bring the whole thing down one block but you also need to set a two tick delay on the repeater. Mine wouldn't work without that delay but ever since then it's been cracking on flawlessly. Thanks for the build impulseSV!
I built this a few weeks back and it worked flawlessly now I am having complete shutdown after the first potion is finished brewing. And this is after tryin to add the observers, switch the repeater to two ticks and adding note blocks to the side of droppers. Am I the only one with this issue?
To make a weakness potion with this, you need to remove the top two hoppers and droppers, place a fermented spider eye in the brewing stand, your fermented spider eyes on top, and your gun powder on the bottom
Impulse, you're amazing. Four years later, and this is still the clearest tutorial for a contraption that's still working flawlessly on Minecraft Java 1.20.4. As an added bonus, you can use a dispenser filled with bottles aimed into a waterlogged mangrove root (or copper grate), with a hopper below to refill the water bottle chest.
Fun Ideas: you can make a random multibrewer by putting different ingredients in the same dropper as long as the rest of the sequence works for both. You can also extend the storage from the bottom chest downwards. So with one brewer, you could make 9 different extended potions: fire-resistance+, water-breathing+, night-vision+, and slow-falling+, poison+, swiftness 1+, strength 1+, turtle-master+, regeneration+. The main issue is that the output wouldn't be sorted and that half of those aren't very useful.
Probably not if ur using redstone dust to increase duration as u cant add it to instant health. But if u were to brew stuff with no additional stuff like glowstone dust and redstone dust. Then it ahould be fine. Gunpowder and dragon breath is universal so u can use that with anythin.@@notSwiftie
For mine, I set up a huge repeater clock thats a little longer than the brewing cycle that activates sticky pistons attached to redstone blocks which locks and unlocks hoppers, and then a dropper system that sends the bottles back into the brewing stand. It's all based on the comparator signal strength of having a full brewing stand. This is much simpler and is essentially the same result. Dang it, Impulse.
@@markallenayers5510 same and im pretty sure it wont cuz bedrock cant do quasi connectivity and i believe thats what the slabs are.. If your on bedrock like me and like using Hoppers a Redstone Block and Sticky Piston will be your best friend lol
@@Aydentv I'm using a piston feed tape with brewing stands controlled by an etho hopper clock. I spaced out the droppers by 1 block to run a comparator signal from the brew stands. I have to use less than 6 blaze powder in the brewing stands or the signal strength with 3 bottles is too strong. Good times on bedrock
Easy fix for Bedrock (the piston and its observer don't behave the same way): - Remove the bottom observer (the one that's facing the comparator) - Put a solid block on the floor behind the comparator (at its output) - Put a redstone torch on the left side of this solid block (left when looking at the machine from the front) - Put a solid block on top of this torch, and another one right next to it on the front side (the side of the block that can be seen from the front of the machine) - Put red stone dust on top of these last two blocks - Enjoy

dayum! when I'm checking youtube just to see if anyone I follow uploaded anything new, and I actually find something this awesome. 1 wall of fire resistance potions incoming.
IF THE MODIFIERS AREN'T WORKING -------> The two redstone dusts being powered by the repeater coming from the piston-observer is the issue. Change the bottom redstone from default "cross" mode, to "dot" mode, and replace the top dust to a redstone torch. The repeater on default settings is too short of a pulse from the observer to power the torch, so add at minimum 1 tick to the repeater. This fixed the system for me.
The "fix" only introduced a new bug. Updating the system, in 1.19 - it fires two of each item in succession, which halts the process. I found that if you build the first type and do your 4 ingredients, if it works, let it be. Then most of the other stuff is 3 ingredients, and then it could miss the 2nd from bottom . SO instead of rebuilding the machine, just leave the misfiring dropper empty and move the third ingredient up and put the netherwart at the top. I think this had more to do with every seventh Dropper bugging out (same happens on the old Super Smelters if you have more than 7 furnaces in an array, the middle one never fires...) So instead of fiddling with the redstone, just adjust which droppers are loaded with ingredients. If you absolutely need 4 ingredients, then move the contraption one or two blocks over and see if the new position resets it.
I have been working on this for about a month, it was huge and I was trying to slim it up..I'm both happy that you saved me time and upset that you beat me to it
Love the way you comment the way you explain things and your voice is very soothing. No idea why you have so little views but they will surely increase over time!
Well it’s confirmed!!! Always read the comments!! Thanks, this fixed the final issue I had getting this to work, also setting a repeater to 2 ticks (spigot server)
I added a dispenser of empty water bottles facing water over a hopper feeding into the water bottle chest. A comparator to that hopper turns off a torch connected to the dispenser when there's a bottle in it, and activates the dispenser when emptied. There is yet further room to attach a hopper and chest to that dispenser, allowing you to be able to brew the *entire contents of the brewer unattended*. Very cool.
Made this in bedrock 1.19, works great with a small workaround. In bedrock, the bottom observer sends a signal too short to the piston, which requires it to last a little longer to actually function. I tried to build what's called a "pulse extender" to have it last a little longer, but due to the closeness of this machine's components I kept powering mechanisms I didn't intend to. In the end what worked for me was to get rid of that bottom observer, whose only job was to trigger the piston based on hopper contents. Then I moved its comparator to the left of the hopper, and ran a redstone line from it up to the piston directly. This adds a 2x2 addition to left of the 3x5 field you should reserve for this machine
I had the same issue, what I did was to use torches for the signal to travel up, and I moved the chest and comparator one block further out. That would make whole machine 3x6 instead of 3x5, depending on the layout of your base you can use multiple variations.
To make it work on bedrock i took away the observer facing the comparator and made the comparator fire straight into a piston. Still using an ovserver at the top to fire the droppers. In bedrock the top observer wont fire in this senario.. so use the campators true output and fire straight into a piston with the observer on the end. Also used honey blocks to elevate it to correct height & had to use 1 obsidian block next to it.. All you need is a button to kickstart the droppers again once youve done a full cycle.
to fix the glitch that makes the second dispenser (bottom to top) not work, you have to remove the second dispenser and add it on top with the respective hopper, it works for 1.16.1
Guys if you want to brew weakness potions you have to put the fermented spider eyes in the top dropper and th gunpowder in the bottom one, also prime the machine with the super eye
Nice one, compact and clean. just a thought if you move the output chest/hopper/comperator down one block you can put an input hopper for the blaze powder in the side of the brewing stand. (less hazzle restocking)
Confirmed this still works in 1.20. If you want to do a single ingredient potion (like a splash water bottle), put a stack of gunpowder in the brewing stand and gunpowder in the bottom dropper.

Your timing for this Video was well needed ;) Awesome tutorial Impulse. always love building your Contraption. With my Idea for the new season This will fit right in . :) Keep up the great work and never let the love for the game Die...
Still works on Java 1.18 with the fix. Even works with 5 ingredient potions by just adding another dropper and hopper on top. Highly recommend pairing it with one of K1 Inc's "Fully Auto Water Bottle Filler."
@@allucuh7638 The first hopper should have a couple locking items and the other ingredients should que up in the second hopper. If you mean more than one of each item in the hoppers I would try flushing the whole system and resetting it
I find having the 4 hoppers go from left to right rather from straight above is a bit more reliable. idk why but ingredient number 2 wasn't firing but I made a design where I took out the top 3 droppers and hoppers and the redstone dust, I left the repeater that powers the 2 dust. I placed 3 hoppers going into the hopper above the brewing stand (coming from the opposite side the the bottle chest ofc) placed the droppers 1 block above the 4 hoppers facing them so the droppers drop items on top of the hoppers and place 3 blocks level with the observer to block items from going over just in case. then placed dust on all 4 droppers. u can also add a 5th if ur making a splash potion
I follow this tutorial block by block, and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. The issue I keep having is instead of the water bottles going into the brewing stand and staying there to make the potions, they instantly go into hoppers and into the lower chest. If I rebuild several times it eventually works, but I do it the exact same every time and in the same spot. Once I get one working I make another next to it, and same thing. I have to build them all several times, so frustrating lol
Teena T he doesn’t actually build it in the order he shows. After he puts in the ingredients and goes to start it (7:20) one of the comparators he showed placing earlier (3:45) is missing, and the upper observer is a block up.
@@goldenhelmet403 Ihave the same issue whether the comparator is there or not. If I put the water bottles in the brewing stand, they immediatly fall through to chest
I was racking my brain trying to figure out what locked the hopper to keep it from pulling out the water bottles. That happens when there is an item in the hopper feeding the brewing stand. When the potions are done, the final nether wart is loaded into the brewing stand and that deactivates, allowing the hopper to pull the potions out. When they're being transported the comparator on the hopper feeding the output fires the observer? Then when they're cleared it fires again to reactivate the droppers to dispense another load? This is working great and gives me something to use the water bottles from bartering on instead of dumping them into lava. I placed these opposite the overflow chests I have for my bartering sorter for easy filling. This doesn't work with one ingredient though because the hopper can always dump more into the brewing stand :( I needed this for the fire potions to add redstone dust and extend their duration. I ended up using a setup with a hopper clock with 54 items. Each ~22 second cycle it either disables the hopper pulling out of the stand or the one feeding potions into it. Idles half the time, but loading the chests with the potions is set-it-and-forget-it. I come back and they all have their time extended and are ready for use. If the hopper feeding the potions in is empty, it disables the timer. If the hopper feeding the potions out is full, it disables the timer.
Got this working in 1.21 by 1. Implement fix mentioned in pinned comment 2. Set repeater to the torch tower on 2 ticks 3. Make sure top redstone is a cross, not a dot
If you want to build this for something that only takes one ingredient (I use it to brew redstone into the potions from my piglin farm) you have to prime it by putting a full stack of the ingredient in the brewing stand. This will make sure that one item will sit in the hopper above until the potions have finished brewing which is very important
I can follow this tutorial to build the brewing stand, but I don't understand why it works. I know there are redstone tutorials out there on UA-cam, but I need reinforcement on all points when watching these tutorials as to what the components are doing and why. Mumbo had a complete tutorial of redstone circuits. I watched it and he challenged watchers to build a certain kind of redstone door at the end. I attempted that challenge, only to immediately discover his version of Minecraft at that time was different than mine, meaning most of what I had just learned was inapplicable. I mention this because the point I'm trying to make is that figuring out this redstone stuff is maddeningly frustrating.
fix for bedrock: remove signal transfer part at left side. use repeater to extend 1 block to backside, then put a block and a redstone torch. use vertical signal transfer twice(block,torch,block,torch... at 1 column) finally connect torch signal to dropper signal repeater with redstone dust and block. like this: rep ,dst ,dst ,dst, tor half ,blk ,blk ,blk, blk , , , ,tor , , , ,blk hop, cmp, rep, blk, tor this can avoid reload signal interfering other signal system, so it could stacking. however it will become 3*6. when brew finished, bottle get out from last hopper, it will trigger a fallen edge. the signal transfer use 3 NOT(=NOT) and give dropper a rising edge to trigger again.
this machine can't brew 1 ingredient, only support different 2 ingredient. one way to trigger this system is put a water bottle into last hopper, it will go to collect chest and make a impulse to dropper. (I think this way is more safety. observer may make 2 impulse (one come in, one leave out), this system only allow 1 impulse)
WORKS IN 1.15!! I built the entire thing wrong three times. Make sure you check the link in description. Also, try setting the repeater at 4:28 to two ticks. Also make sure the hopper that sends the water bottles is filled. Impulse your a legend!!!
works perfectly for me the first potion , then after that, the droppers are dropping the ingredients down by 2 instead of one so i am getting a clog in the system
How do you modify this so you can make a splash potion of Harming 2 as you need an step? The recipe is nether wart --> Spider eye --> Fermented Spider Eye --> Glowstone --> Gunpower
This is what I came to the comments to find out. Also, I need to know if this works on the Bedrock Edition. I am currently making a ton of Harming 2 potions for my guardian farm. Using an automatic brewing station would save me so much time!
I'm super late to this, so I'm not expecting an answer, but I built this machine in Java 1.15.2, made the fixes suggested on his follow up video, all works fine but one thing doesnt work: If I want to make a splash potion of health II, the nether wart goes in, no problem, so does the glistering melon and the glowstone dust, but the potions are getting flushed before the gunpowder comes? :/
I tested it for bedrock edition but you'll need to replace the observer that gets pushed by the piston with a redstone block Edit: youll need to hook it up to a tflipflop too tho bc the comparator ticks twice when potions r done
The design works too well for me; it’s firing the piston twice and breaking the system by sending down 2 of each ingredient. Can anyone help me? As far as I can tell, it’s firing off due to the comparator turning on and then off; not to mention the piston isn’t leaving the observer up
@@rumrobot_ by "with the fix" you meant the fix that he pinned in the comment section right? and in that video he shows of the design and the repeater is on 2 ticks
Just seen ilmango's video on 1.15 snapshot, showing that it is now possible to get water bottles automatically. With your system, would it be possible to automate the fuel itself aswell? If so, it would make a fully automatic brewing system We could even go further and make an all potion factory with item sorters: assuming you'd "only" need a witch farm... don't know about the fuel, tbh (Haven't played minecraft in a long time... can't remember one time I had to use fuel for brewing xD)

I've watched this, I've built it, it works. My question: HOW WAS IT INVENTED? I'm fascinated by how it works but it seems so complicated to come up with the design. Marvellous.
This is compact as it gets, great job.
A perfect module for my multiplayer server. Works perfectly. Thank you for the build.
Actually I just noticed that my gold dust isn't working. I double checked the build and it looks like I did it correct. Help?
try adding a delay to the top repeater (the one taking signal from the observer)
I ran into the same issue (it's intermittent). I show a fix/explanation here: ua-cam.com/video/6cn3qzwuWio/v-deo.html
Highly recommend pairing it with one of K1 Inc's "Fully Auto Water Bottle Filler."
i tried it and it hasnt been working. it feed more than one item into a hopper for some reason??
@@allucuh7638 The first hopper should have a couple locking items and the other ingredients should que up in the second hopper.
If you mean more than one of each item in the hoppers I would try flushing the whole system and resetting it
Smallest and cheapest tileable one I found thank you impulse I will be using this for my potion wall in my base
extremely high-quality tutorial
Oh thank you so much! This is perfect! I've been looking for an auto brewer that fits my needs and this does just that. Perfectly, for that matter.
Lol magyar
Omg thank you so much I needed this in my survival world with my friends! It impressed all of us. Keep up the vids 👍🏼
Now i need to make this in my survival world
I find having the 4 hoppers go from left to right rather from straight above is a bit more reliable. idk why but ingredient number 2 wasn't firing but I made a design where I took out the top 3 droppers and hoppers and the redstone dust, I left the repeater that powers the 2 dust. I placed 3 hoppers going into the hopper above the brewing stand (coming from the opposite side the the bottle chest ofc) placed the droppers 1 block above the 4 hoppers facing them so the droppers drop items on top of the hoppers and place 3 blocks level with the observer to block items from going over just in case. then placed dust on all 4 droppers. u can also add a 5th if ur making a splash potion
obviously less easy to tile but it works 100% now and it's easier to add the 5th ingredient
If I put the water bottles in the brewing stand, they immediatly fall through to chest
try setting the half slab repeater to 2 ticks
I like this design is so compact and automated....I'm gonna use this thanks you for this video😊
Potion Seller, I’d like your strongest potions.
you cant handle my strongest potions
I went from Tango's video thinking it wasnt the one and only Impulse of the SV
I used this in my automatic XP farmi. Just perfect!
this works great preloading it is very very important.
Works great! I had to use the fix from the hermitcraft video but still amazing!!!
Got this working in 1.21 by
1. Implement fix mentioned in pinned comment
2. Set repeater to the torch tower on 2 ticks
3. Make sure top redstone is a cross, not a dot
Iskall and mumbo would love this...
Yep they will love this too much
Lol
Iskall already has one, albeit not as compact.
If you want to build this for something that only takes one ingredient (I use it to brew redstone into the potions from my piglin farm) you have to prime it by putting a full stack of the ingredient in the brewing stand. This will make sure that one item will sit in the hopper above until the potions have finished brewing which is very important
You just saved me! Thank you!
I mention this because the point I'm trying to make is that figuring out this redstone stuff is maddeningly frustrating.
fix for bedrock:
remove signal transfer part at left side.
use repeater to extend 1 block to backside, then put a block and a redstone torch.
use vertical signal transfer twice(block,torch,block,torch... at 1 column)
finally connect torch signal to dropper signal repeater with redstone dust and block.
like this:
rep ,dst ,dst ,dst,tor
half ,blk ,blk ,blk,blk
, , , ,tor
, , , ,blk
hop,cmp,rep,blk,tor
this can avoid reload signal interfering other signal system, so it could stacking. however it will become 3*6.
when brew finished, bottle get out from last hopper, it will trigger a fallen edge. the signal transfer use 3 NOT(=NOT) and give dropper a rising edge to trigger again.
this machine can't brew 1 ingredient, only support different 2 ingredient.
one way to trigger this system is put a water bottle into last hopper, it will go to collect chest and make a impulse to dropper.
Impulse your a legend!!!
if i could like this video twice id like it three times
had to rebuild it like 15 times but it finaly works
Im using this in 2022, Still works :D
Ty btw Impulse Love ur new vids
I just love this ImpulseSV really great
works perfectly for me the first potion , then after that, the droppers are dropping the ingredients down by 2 instead of one so i am getting a clog in the system
Same :/
Might be something with the versions we are playing?
try setting repeater on half slab to 2 ticks. fixed this problem for me as well as premature pulling out of water bottles
Made in Bedrock; the top observer doesn't detach from the sticky piston when you place that comparator to start the system.
Ended up sending that signal to the droppers via torches and repeaters (to avoid collision with neighboring wiring). Thanks for the build!
Nice design! Very compact, cheap and usefull
@@revaecrawford it might not work on bedrock if it relies on hopper items being put out in order since bedrock has random hopper output
Very nice! Great job Impulse.
Yup ..tango's used this and pronouced your name as "impusuuuv"
Always great tutorials! Thanks Impulse!
Nice one Impulse :)
Yo sup Unarybit.
Are you planning on building anything? It has been 2 years since your last video.
You can use the same input for bottles and blaze powder, just make sure that the hopper have one slot for the blaze
That is cool I’ll try it in my base in my world thanks for this video
awesome as always Impulse!
I tested it for bedrock edition but you'll need to replace the observer that gets pushed by the piston with a redstone block
Edit: youll need to hook it up to a tflipflop too tho bc the comparator ticks twice when potions r done
What do you mean t flip flop
@@DnugAirwalker check mumbo jumbo for it
Can you explain this better?
The design works too well for me; it’s firing the piston twice and breaking the system by sending down 2 of each ingredient.
Can anyone help me?
As far as I can tell, it’s firing off due to the comparator turning on and then off; not to mention the piston isn’t leaving the observer up
If the piston isn't leaving the observer up, it's not getting a one-tick pulse. Is it definitely getting powered by the observer output?
Very nice design

It works in 1.17.1, if you set the repeater to 2 ticks instead of 1, with the fix.
bless you sir! also u must be talking about the repeater coming from the piston and not the lower one. that worked for me
the water doesn't dispense for me, any ideas why?
not exactly sure what you're talking about. in the video he did use 2 ticks.
@@hotshirtlessmen no he didnt. He specifically said leave it on default. Its the one at the end of the observer, if i recall correctly.
If so, it would make a fully automatic brewing system
We could even go further and make an all potion factory with item sorters: assuming you'd "only" need a witch farm... don't know about the fuel, tbh
(Haven't played minecraft in a long time... can't remember one time I had to use fuel for brewing xD)
The fuel thing is kind of new they added it in 1.9 I think but there isnt a way to automate getting blaze powder unfortunately
You can't, only because blaze powder needs to be crafted
the water bottles aren't going in the brewing station and everythings going in in the wrong order and ive done the fix from the other vid
The problem with mine is that the damn gunpowder doesnt go in!
Did you right click the comparator under the observer to swap the observer's position?
still works in 1.19.4 (with the pinned fix)
Thank you impulse love it :D. But I can squeeze it a little bit more i think, need some testing but this is what I need for my trading hall
