This was awesome. This was by farthe best reaction I’ve seen to this song so far. He focused majority on his voice and it was so good that you noticed because this is how a lot of our people sing. Music and singing is a huge part of our culture, it’s our anthem, chants our cries to our ancestors and this song couldn’t have come out at a better time, with the New Zealand national government wanting to abolish Māori culture all together. Stan is our advocate and our voice with the platform he has now and I know he will do our people proud. This waiata is so powerful❤❤
When Micheal Buble heard Stan sing, he said, God had kissed his throat. That was during Australian Idol. Micheal Buble was a guest mentor with one of the judges.
When Stan sings THIS song, all brown people around the globe feel thier soul just behind thier face comming out, thier joy ,hurts, pride and shames, uniquness, oneness.belonging to a culture, you are I AM.
I just love any vocalist who can create contrast seemingly effortlessly. Going from power fry to measured and clean or breathy in the same phrase takes skill. Tempering intensity with delicacy is not easy, especially not when you're swooping around your range. It just sounds amazing when I hear someone do it and they don't appear to be trying. There's a live performance of this on UA-cam you might enjoy as it has a Q&A at the end where Stan explains his writing and videography process as well as the meaning behind the song.
Stan is amazing. Due to an hereditary cancer gene which has attributed to quite a few whānau members passing, including his beloved kaumatua (grandfather), he has had his stomach removed. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to sing again and had to find another way to bring out that beautiful voice. He is our beautiful Tāonga. .
Thank you 🎉🎉 I love vocal coaches and your analysis is spot on. Stan's song Ultralight Beam (Kanye West cover) is outstanding fodder for vocal analysis. It's next level. Nga mihi from Aotearoa.🎉
Thank you for this most awesome feedback reaction video. Your skill and ear to detail is so on point. We are so proud of Stan Walker here in Aotearoa - New Zealand. To me, this song goes across all cultures uniting us in recognizing our origin of our identity in our humanity and the real message we all carry to the world. Thank you Musasia for your video, it definitely is one of if not the best one I have seen so far too.

Such a great reaction !!! Stan is from New Zealand and is Maori - Stan is a humble singer song writer who focuses on his Maori heritage and giving inspiration through his songs - Stan is truly representing his culture - he sings with his soul - what you see and hear is who he genuinely is. Ultralight Beam and Amazing Graze both excellent too
I've seen many great reactions to this beautiful masterpiece by the always brilliant and amazing Stan Walker, but this one is my fav so far! Watching a professional vocal coach, who really knows what they're hearing and passionately analyzing phenomenal vocals is similar to listening to a gourmet chef rave about delicious food or a high level professional fighter analyze fighting footage. Subscribed!
Really enjoyed your reaction, thank you!! Yep like others are saying - Ultralight Beam and Amazing Grace (both live with the Levites) are such beautiful performances by Stan. I also love New Light and He Kakano Ahau (live). Also The One You Want / Baby It's You (live mashup). Anything off his album 'All In'. Etc. Etc.! 😃 Blessings to you.
Hi Musasia, from Australia. Thank you for a great reaction and helping us understand Stan's vocal excellence. I haven't read the other comments so it may have been mentioned. Stan has survived a rare form of stomach cancer that is hereditary in his family and has had his stomach removed a few years ago. Apparently his voiced has changed a little but to sing like this after removing a major organ under his diaphragm is amazing. He's a very inspirational young man. New subscriber, and thank you!

Stan had to retrain his voice after stomach cancer. His stomach was completely removed. Amazing courage and determination.
