I love Stan's version of Amazing Grace, as he is a walking miracle after surviving a rare stomach cancer where they had to remove his stomach..... and his backing vocals from The Levites. I always feel 'blessed' after hearing this performance..
The song is about SLAVERY. It was written in the 18th C. by a British man who had earned his living as the captain of slave ships. He later became horrified by his own actions and sought forgiveness (i.e. grace) from God.
Okay, so here's the thing... I did Not know that you could SANG!! That second that you blended into that melody with them had me like "wow!". So happy to know that I'm not the only one who almost lost it with this song. His version is definitely one of the best I've heard, growing up in church I've heard it many, many times. But this is top-tier good! Love your reactions, and please keep them coming! Regards, J.
That deserves a collective "AMEN"....this is my first time hearing him sing and your right it's a whole body experience...thank you for sharing this...Karl from eastern Canada❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Stan has had many hurdles to overcome in his life...and in part, I think this is why he is able to connect to our soul through his voice and presence.... He is a remarkable artist and a truly inspirational human💖💖💖
Stan wrote this song "I surrender" as a 16yr old boy. He's a tough kid with his fair share of obstacles to have overcome. How he sings like this without a stomach is actually beyond me or belief.
@@kataraina9967as Maori we are taught to sing from our stomach the center of our being so yes he had to relearn how to sing after his op he has a doco out about his life born here and moved to oz as a child where he began his career on Australia idol.🤗
Loved what you had to say "experience / journey / senses heightened. Absolutely true, you feel it in every single fibre of your being . The magic of Stan.
Stan is very unique. Fiercely proud of his Maori heritage & very protective of it. You need to go down the Stan Walker rabbit hole. He will blow your mind. Seems he already has. You have done a few reactions to him now. Don't stop here. Loved your reaction. Love, peace & happiness. John from New Zealand :)
Stan Walker is Māori, from Aotearoa, New Zealand. He is a humble man that puts his heart & soul into his music, he has also fought battles others might not have otherwise come out of. The greenery is typical of our country, the forests. The oceans. He sings about the declaration of ownership & reclamation of identity. The significance in understanding our “whakapapa” (genealogy). A declaration for anyone who has ever felt like they don’t know who they are or where they belong. The shaking of the hands is “wiri” it represents the world around us, the shimmering waters, the wind rustling the leaves on trees, that connects us to the “papatuanuku” (earth mother) to which we draw strength from. “Pukana” (The bulging eyes) is to emphasise one’s passion or ferocity. Very short versions but our Māori people are very spiritual. Thank you for your wonderful review, please consider watching Stan’s version of Kanye’s ultralight beam.
Agree definitely an experience even listening to this song many times yet the end with the sax accompanying Stan is so gracefully done, is probably my favourite part. Have a listen to Stan with Vince Harding and others singing Whakaria Mai (How Great Thou Art). A snall group along with Stan each with amazing vocals just in one room,. Paying homeage to a family member or friend mother who passed away. It is an old video but worthwhile to watch, singing in Te Reo Māori and English. Kia ora from Aotearoa NZ
President Obama did a heartfelt rendition of Amazing Grace when he was grieving with the church members that were shot and killed at the church with a racist that they invited into their prayer meeting. If you haven't seen and heard that, check it out. A great president all around.
Love your reactions so much! Thank you for taking the time to listen to Stan, we’re so proud of him and how he represents us! New Light or Circle of Life next please 🙏🏽😊
I've been wondering for a while what it is that kept me enjoying your reactions so much...Is it your cultural references, ad libs and authenticity? Yes, yes and yes! But I've just figured it out. You actually remind me of Stan. In interviews his personality is similar to yours. A genuine honesty with an engaging likeability. Keep up the good work!
Have had the privilege of seeing him live many times and he delivers every time! His voice is captivating and he is so blessed! His story is also one of struggle! Makes it even more sweeter
I Surrender.... Amazing Performance by Stan & The Levites, Amazing Vocals by Stan and BV's The Standard, Amazing Rendition of a Classic, Amazing Collaboration of Talent culminating in an Amazing Experience for our Wairau (Spirit/Soul). AMAZING GRACE Who can sing like this? You were so right to say the Stan's songs are an experience and a journey. That's the best description I have heard yet. He did release it as a Medley. Its on spotify and on his youtube channel. He went and took us all to church! 💛💜❤ He has a song called NEW LIGHT that he wrote that you should react to or his version of PURPLE RAIN (audio no video) that he did when he was 18'. One of the best covers of amazing grace. Stan is one of my favourites his voice is just phenomenal. Can you please react to Australian legend John Farnham covering “amazing grace”
Stan has a deep grounding in the faith his mum and dad practice. He does not apologise for being grounded in faith. His pathway is profound, enlightened and purposeful, given everything he has experienced in life. Thankful for your comments and insights
I love everything about this! Stan and the whole group are so anointed and amazing! I can totally hear Israel Houghton's influence in Stan's voice as well 🙌🏽😭🔥❤️
Britt you have to watch the Stan Walker Documentary. Us Kiwi New Zealanders love and adore him. The struggles and obstacles he has overcome will touch your heart and soul. He is a survivor like myself of sexual assault and he has also had his stomach removed due to a certain type of cancer that has taken the lives of so many in his family. I highly recommend you watch his Documentary. I am a huge Stan Walker fan.
What you felt was a SPIRITUAL experience ..reigniting your inner SPIRIT once again ..filling your cup of the essence of our Creator ..stoked it took you on that journey once again .. Let us UNITE in the SPIRIT (for that is of the Heavens) Flesh (is of the Earth - material) .. For in the beginning was the WORD ...the WORD IS SPIRIT ..THAT CAME BEFORE THE FLESH .. So lets un as human drag the HEAVENS to the earth ..instead us ELEVATE TO THE HEAVENS
Stan Walker, he is the voice of Aotearoa, after surviving Cancer, he is a living proof of God's Miracles. He stumbled but came back better than ever. Nga Mihi Nui kia koe e hoa. Best version of Amazing Grace. ❤❤❤😊
I’m sorry if this sounds crazy 😂 But this dude is so good when I hear him it makes me borderline violent. Like he’s so good it makes me want to scream and throw things. I literally get upset because he’s so good. It’s like I’m listening to Lil Jon or some other club song that is made to evoke that type of reaction….Its weird.
The fantastic back up singers are The Standard and the band is the Levites . I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve listened to this. Loved your reaction as usual 👍
