  • Uncle Green was one of Atlanta's most popular bands in the mid-late 1980s. They were good friends with Mr. Crowe's Garden and the two bands played on bills together, and got together for bowling nights as well. As a result, our names were constantly confused and people would ask me 'When is Uncle Crowe's Garden playing again?' or 'How are things going with Mr. Green Crowe?" I also remember that every time I saw them they had all new songs, so I don't know if I ever heard one of their songs played twice (except on Album 88 where He's The Man was playing every time I turned on the radio!). The band was constantly improving, even after the departure of founding heartbeat / heartthrob Uncle Dan. They sound great on this tape and even veer into some slightly psychedelic territory! I don't have the date of this show, but the band is opening for the Squalls at the latter's record release party. If you know the date, please leave it in the comments and I will update the description. Enjoy this vintage live recording of Uncle Green, also known as 3 lb. Thrill!

I lost the books with all my MCG dates, but I remember that we played at Elliston Square in 1987 or 88!
