The best thing about these pads is that they make the porta pro very comfortable, and of course they help alot with making the bass clearer

Bought the Porta Pro for about 30 bucks and quickly noticed that the pads are not really comfortable, and thin. But Yaxis cost about 22 bucks, almost as much as the device itself lol. Arent these just foam? Why so pricey?

I can find single pair Yaxi pads for $12-15 on Amazon … and double or triple pair for the $20-30 range… I think they are worth it though… they are made in Japan maybe due to export fees?

Lmao worst audiophile suggestion since I got it for trance and I forgot that the audiophile community don't even consider trance genre as actual music.. sounds good for everything else but by far the worst headphones/headset for trance (utility 40) too dry and grainy sounding for my music but then I just remembered I had auto gain on in Foobar so I'll test these out again

@@ProjectPewgf Look into the KPH30i Clear Version (or remove the foam from the rear of the driver in non clear versions), as from what I have heard, those tend to have a better sound signature over the KPH40. Slap on some Grado G cushion pads to increase sound stage and comfort.
You can also mod them to fit on the Porta Pro headband, or the KPH40 headband.

@@TylersEclectic I think out of sheer pettiness I'd use like insect net or some other material that I might dig in other products. It's indeed a cult but rather a universal one since most seem to be aware of it. But I don't know about the older generation though, if I understood correctly those koss products were popular many decades ago too.
Also, yesterday I've purchased my first actual "audiophile"-ish headphones. They're called the Meze 99 Noir. They're supposed to be fun sounding and bassy great for gaming and music.
I'm curious how they'll sound compared to cheap gaming headsets I've had previously.

@@VinnyUnion 99 noir are super fun and build is top notch! They are great for single player games, and do ok for pvp stuff but can be a little too bass heavy for competitive stuff. Overall a great headphone to dip into the crazy audiophile community ha

    • @VinnyUnion

@@TylersEclectic the sheer fact that there was a possibility of you having experience and a input to those headphones is just such a great timing, really. Really appreciated. I've chosen it additionally for its modularity. Theoretically you do can repair it by yourself endlessly (as long as spare parts exist of course) but the design makes it more accessible at the very least.
Plus I'm really, really curious on what a fun sound really entails. I keep reading it through the countless blogs, reviews and overall opinions which makes me look forward to it heavily with some cautions of course. But all in all, I think these are a pair that you can keep for 10 years as a reliable pair. Headphones are supposed to last a long time usually, don't they? For reference I did have three pairs of Bluetooth earbuds which ALL of them broke. Each fifty bucks. Soundcore Life P3, Donner Dobuds One. Meanwhile the wired IEMs have been working for one year now at max volume (I just enjoy it at max volume I'm sorry. What can I say. Although not for prolonged sessions. Just for certain tracks.).
Fast moving forward while we're discussing headphones anyway - prior to that I had gotten (&returned) the Soundcore Q30 which was nice but a little pricey at that time because I had no real need for headphones. Afterwards I went with the Sony WH720N (or something like that) which were heavily disappointing considering the praise it has received online. Standalone they were decent for the normal folk I'd say. But just very quiet and sound was lackluster. Also I highly doubt the Sony's would've been sensible as a possible gaming gear.
Another thing, this one's a question, what's the difference between a dark and bright sound? I personally like when things do sound "darker" I think. When it sounds bloated. Bright means overall sharp, doesn't it? I am aware of the noir being somewhat sharp at times but it doesn't seem to be too fatiguing and I'm ready to give it a chance nonetheless.
Basically the polar opposite of an audiophile. But regardless of that I'd like a capable piece of hardware of those rare occasions that I might happen to listen to high quality music by compromising on the overall tuning that I'm used to. A jack of all trades of sorts with capabilities.
Plus I've seen that you can apparently use those headphones as a Bluetooth capable device with a DAC named Qudelix (?) 5K which seems like a fascinating piece of tech. I think I'll consider that in the future as well. Cables are still involved but it's just a nice way of doing things when you can use your phone separately when you're out or something. These headphones are supposed to have low power consumption additionally which makes it even more usable for a one-pair-of-all.
