Back in 1984, the Porta Pros cost between 150 and 200 bucks (inflation-adjusted). For 40$ in 2023, the sound is top-notch. I love the futuristic design, even though I didn't experience that decade.

Wow, it's an absolutely absurd this channel does not have more subs and views. I rarely leave comments on youtube, but the level of production quality and detail in the review is so fucking amazing that I had to commend you on it! This video has convinced me to give these a purchase, and learning about the history of the product was also a fantastic touch. Also, not to mention some parts were funny as hell!
POST MORE OFTEN!!! I know that you have a life and all but I'mm a huge headphone junkie and you're the only one with a sense a humor on your videos and a interesting theme. Bert reviewing headphones? I am amazed at the quality that this review turned out to be. Truly ingenious and out of the box format. But imagine my surprise when I went to binge watch rest of the channel only to find that you haven't uploaded in a year! I'd imagine making these videos must be a lot of work and the amount of views in return are definitely not doing them justice. It would be a shame if this channel was to die out. I would highly encourage broadening the audience by reviewing more consumer grade products. I personally would love to see your take on true wireless earphones or even some other tech products like smartphones. Anyway, I have rambled enough! I really liked your videos and wanted to let you know. I hope that you're doing well and good luck!

Yes my mistake, they were on backwards only part of the time in this video on the mannequin head, but they were recorded properly on left and right channels. Ever since this video I’ve really watched for that. So many things going on while filming, and I’m just one guy doing all this; you learn as you go!

You're right, all these years and I hadn't noticed the note shape! They were part of my youth too, seems a lot of us grew up with them. They are still excellent, even today I don't think there is anything better at this price.

Actually Im a little worried about the wire. Its the thinnest i´ve ever seen for a headphone. I Imagine it only takes a minor move to break it . Despite that I keep bying them over and over again. Maybe I should take use of the lifetime warranty ,Receits are getting lost.

Edit: btw its pretty interesting that sound quality peaked with porta pro in 1984. Sure there are better sounding headphones but You need to spend hundreds more and it will not be a night and day difference. Think about anything else from 80s perfectly usable and on par with modern stuff.
Thanks! There are a few lower-priced, good-sounding modern headphones (Sennheiser HD599 comes to mind for example) but I think you are right, the PortaPro is still the best bang for the buck! That’s a great point about the 80s...l can’t think of any tech from back then that isn’t outperformed today! Life now is pretty awesome in comparison.
@@bertreviews H599 is interesting too. I've been looking at it and dt770 since I wanted a low ohm around 150$ headphone. But after listening to dt770 32ohm, I've decided to keep my porta pro. I like the warmer pleasant sound more :)

This entertaining and informative review was a delightful find. Love the humor and fun history lesson. This brought back so many memories. I can't imagine how much work this was go put together, but I'm so glad you did. Porta Pros (and their KSC75 siblings) are great and totally deserve the long market life they've enjoyed. I like how Bert and friends interact. The voices are fun. The "Santinator" sounds like he's straight out of Austria. And you nailed the actual technical review elements for me. And thanks for the shortcuts in the description. Your obvious long-term experience in the industry is going to be a great advantage for you as a reviewer. My portapros are coming tomorrow and I'm so excited!:)
They may look and feel fragile, but I had mine for around 15 years and they survived various falls without much issue. Their main Achilles heel are the ear pads, which will disintegrate after a couple of years of regular use, but KOSS sells replacements for around $5 for 3 pairs.
