This entire video was wild... the stoat instigating, the rabbit freaking out, the cat minding everyone's business, the birds talking shit...
The stoat was hunting the rabbit to kill it, those little predators are one of the letals and relentless in the wild, they take on prey 3 times their size, then the cat...another predator, that bunny really had bad luck that day. Bunny was badly injured, as soon as that cat left most likely that stoat was back to finish it.

It's pretty scary that cats are one of the few animals that hunt for sport instead of just for food. Notice how every time the rabbit stopped moving, the cat just kinda sat there, staring at it (perhaps hoping it would start running again), and then lost interest and wandered off. It only wanted to chase it, not eat it.

Everyone knows rabbits are fast, but I am consistently amazed by the speed of ferrets/weasels/stoats. You'd think a rabbit could easily outrun one, but not so much.
The rabbits always make the same mistake they turn back and ping pong around in the same area, if they just picked one direction and ran they might get away.

For your information, this cat is probably a Manx cat. This kind of cat does not have a tail. The ones with a very short tail are known as stumpies, whilst the cats without any tails are known as rumpies. Allegedly, these cats originally came from the island of Manx, located in the Irish Sea, between England and Ireland

Having no tail and long back legs will give a cat a strange looking walk, but this particular one is walking abnormally primarily because his front left paw is messed up. Pretty heavy limp in there.
It's probably a manx, but that is most likely not why it walks like that.
It looks like it had an old injury in its leg that must have healed wrong if you watch closer.

The hare is wounded, in shock, and laying there for the taking. The stoat, of course, is being stymied by the cat- who wants the thrill of chasing and catching the stoat! The winner in the end was probably the two magpies. The hare's soft eyes may have gone first, and then he became a picked over mess. I hope the stoat was able to stick around long enough to enjoy his well-earned meal. They have such a high metabolism that they must eat one-half of their body weight in food per day or starve to death. He may have had to go hunt and eat something else. BTW- I just read that female stoats are sometimes impregnated by their male littermates and are therefore pregnant before they leave the nest! Now, that is a rapid reproductive cycle!

I love rabbits - raised 10 of them.. RIP to all of them. This little guy is finished - all the cat did was give him a few extra hours of life. Either it will die from starvation/thirst due to not being to move well enough to look for food.. or the weasel will come back later. Rabbits rely on burst to get away, but slow down rapidly. They gotta hope the other gives up.
