My Pit Bull grew up with 13 ferrets. They messed with him so badly when he was a puppy (and into adulthood). But, he learned how to play with small things without hurting them. When he'd play with my friend's toy poodles and he looked like he was starting to get rough, all we'd say was, "Paulie, ferret!" and he'd back off and go gentle again. But the ferrets were his best friends. One of them loved him and would curl up on him while they slept.
