It died 100% regardless because there were too many chicks for all of them getting enough food and the specific chick was already one of the tiniest and weakest. It died during the following days. Guaranteed.
I thought for sure mom had done that on purpose as I have seen other birds toss out one or all of the newly hatched 'babies'. Someone had said it had to do with them knowing if they could feed them, or having enough resources in the area to feed them or even if the one, or ones tossed may have had some defect. I think most humans secretly root for the little one to make it back. Nice.
It absolutely was on purpose. This is one of those cleverly edited whimsical videos that mask the grim reality. The mother will have kicked this chick out again afterwards. She can’t feed all those chicks so she has to select the ones with the best chance of survival and only feed them. It’s survival of the fittest. The sad reality is that not only will this chick have been killed directly by his mother, but the siblings will probably have eaten him too.

actually, this was a really hard fight for life and that little bird might have lost it. You can see that fight for survival even between siblings is immense. The siblings push him down to get favored in feeding time. The little fella found back into the nest, but if he isnt able to open his mouth due to fatigue and signal mom to feed him he is lost. How did it went out, did it survive?

There's a video of a mother goose who takes her babies down a 3 foot waterfall in this river. At the top of the waterfall there were 6 babies. At the bottom there were only 3, and the mother goose just went on her way....

I know some people think that the mother didn’t know the baby was in extreme danger but the mother was fully aware and realized that the baby NEEDS to be able to get back in the nest by them selves because if the mom helps the baby back in every time what will happen? The baby will become RELIANT on the mom and if that happens they won’t survive on there own.
There were two broods fell from theri nest. I brought them home. Feed them with banana or rice crumb every time they opened their mouth. When they grew feathers, and jumped around, my younger brother and I took them outside for practice flying. We released them when they matured.
It seems to be the runt of the very large litter. Birds aren't programmed to do anything about a stray baby, but with that many chicks, if she was, I suspect she'd think, "Well, if that one won't/can't save itself, it's his problem, not mine. I've got enough to do with the rest."

Probably why they can afford to be such sloppy parents, it is expected not all will survive. Some birds are even worse and kill their siblings or the parent only lets the stronger one survive.
Yeah I counted 8.. some of them will die over not getting fed.. and what looks like the runt/hatched last and who was out of the nest cup here may be one casualties, maybe not today but later on. :/
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the chick probably didn't survive. The body heat of it's siblings may have gotten him some strength to move but after minutes of struggling on the cold likely spent too much energy that it couldn't afford to. And due to exhaustion it couldn't really even cry for food. Probably died from hunger.
Sorry to be a jerkass, but baby birds die if not fed for 3 hours during daytime. It HAS to grow, and if its body has no resources for that, hormones will force it to use resources which are used for, well, living. So baby snack is doomed. Hopefully its tiny body was fed to someone.

I was a parks gardener in San Jose, CA. for 20 years and sometimes, I would find dead baby birds on the ground that either fell out of nests above or were pushed out by their mothers for whatever reasons. Such a VERY sad sight, indeed, but all a part of Mother Nature.

I just got done watching this and I went to my kitchen and I heard a thumping sound and I noticed that a bird had trapped itself in the back room of my house through an open door that was now closed because no one knew it was there and so I was able to catch it and let it go outside but wow the irony of watching a bird video and then that happening

I saved a cast out lamb that was on the ege of being frozen. It looked dead but I forced fed it warm milk down his throat and brought it in my living room in front of the fireplace. It was completely unconcious. 4 years later he is the biggest of his group , still going strong and he has about 10 lambs of his own :D

I know some people think that the mother didn’t know the baby was in extreme danger but the mother was fully aware and realized that the baby NEEDS to be able to get back in the nest by them selves because if the mom helps the baby back in every time what will happen? The baby will become RELIANT on the mom and if that happens they won’t survive on there own.
There were two broods fell from theri nest. I brought them home. Feed them with banana or rice crumb every time they opened their mouth. When they grew feathers, and jumped around, my younger brother and I took them outside for practice flying. We released them when they matured.
Should had fried them for fun snacks.
That was a full time job because they always have their mouths open!
The way it got back into the nest was like every drunk person going to bed lol

It seems to be the runt of the very large litter. Birds aren't programmed to do anything about a stray baby, but with that many chicks, if she was, I suspect she'd think, "Well, if that one won't/can't save itself, it's his problem, not mine. I've got enough to do with the rest."

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the chick probably didn't survive. The body heat of it's siblings may have gotten him some strength to move but after minutes of struggling on the cold likely spent too much energy that it couldn't afford to. And due to exhaustion it couldn't really even cry for food. Probably died from hunger.

Sorry to be a jerkass, but baby birds die if not fed for 3 hours during daytime. It HAS to grow, and if its body has no resources for that, hormones will force it to use resources which are used for, well, living.
So baby snack is doomed. Hopefully its tiny body was fed to someone.

I was a parks gardener in San Jose, CA. for 20 years and sometimes, I would find dead baby birds on the ground that either fell out of nests above or were pushed out by their mothers for whatever reasons. Such a VERY sad sight, indeed, but all a part of Mother Nature.

I just got done watching this and I went to my kitchen and I heard a thumping sound and I noticed that a bird had trapped itself in the back room of my house through an open door that was now closed because no one knew it was there and so I was able to catch it and let it go outside but wow the irony of watching a bird video and then that happening

I saved a cast out lamb that was on the ege of being frozen. It looked dead but I forced fed it warm milk down his throat and brought it in my living room in front of the fireplace. It was completely unconcious. 4 years later he is the biggest of his group , still going strong and he has about 10 lambs of his own :D
