Pogacar is such a dominant player this season (and in previous seasons to be honest) that I can't help but ask. Is he being aided by any sort of performance enhancers that we don't know about or can test for? I'd like to confidently say no to this, but I've been burned before.
@@TheRflynn Everything points that he is using something - even the prestigious l'Equipe threw some suspicion his way; but I don't accept it. After all that's happened, and the attention... If you were on something today, you'd be winning by small margins, to make it look legitimate. But I was told by a weightlifter that athletes take a heart drug which allows them to train harder which then improves performance. They take it during training, not on the day of competition. But that information is available to all riders. So far, none of the riders have thrown any suspicion on him, and that is good enough for me. (Armstrong was suspected of doping from his very first Tour, I think the community of riders has awareness). Since cycling is my favorite sport, I pray that all is well.
On top of Tadej becoming even better, the team have recruited well. He has great support. When everybody rode for Jumbo, it was hard to win, even when brilliant. Visma LaB are not as good as they were. Remove and MvdP are both brilliant and not in the Pog space, but winning were they do. Talking of Zoe, watch this space, in a good team she will eclipse Lotte & Demi etc
Even without Pogi, UAE would still be on top and the strength and depth of their team is a key factor in his success. Look at the climbers they can burn before Pogi takes off - they’re among the best. In fact look at the entire team and there are racewinners or key supports like Majka in every slot.

As for tiny Tim Pidcock, I wonder what exactly the infighting is between Pidcock and DS Steve Cummings? Is Ineos done with Pidcock and vice versa? Where should Pidcock go if he is released? Would another Team buy his hefty contract? More questions than answers.
Pidcock is gone, no chance he'll be there next year. I can't stand Ineos but there's no way I'd be happy about paying 2.5 million to a guy who thinks he's a GT contender but very much isn't
Pidcock may be a great cyclist, but, he’s moody, verging on rude. Perhaps those in charge have just grown tired of paying him so much and letting him pursue multi disciplines for no benefit to the sponsors.
So you don't think off-road cyclists should get big money? Give your head a wobble - another ignorant roadie. He's worth what they thought he was when he signed.
the last two defeats on the tour have given him extra strength and motivation. this year he was angry and super motivated. it was simply amazing to see him race with that determination. in 20 years we will still remember his legendary shots, his attacks and the opponents that crumble like stones... his now legendary solo attacks from 100km to go... just wauuu!! He is racing now for 5-6years and he is already a legend... thanks Tadej, for everything
Jim Ratcliffe either sends Dave Brailsford back to Team INIOS or they fold. Difficult to see him accepting current performance and the Pidcock affair and just continuing the decline
Objectively, of the 7 most prestigious races, how often is Pogacar the favorite? San Remo? NO; Flanders? NO; Roubaix? NO; Liege? Probably, but Evanpoel could challenge next year; Tour? NO, because Vingegaard will challenge for sure and maybe Evanpoel; World Road Race? NO, depends on the course, a number of riders could beat him, Van der Poel, for sure; Lombardia? YES, by far. 5 "no"; 1 "probable"; 1 out and out "favorite". But he may have just raised his level and everything is now a "yes". The fact that he won in Flanders 2 years ago is astonishing for a small rider.
My guess is that his contract was bought out and Ineos didn't want to risk him getting hurt and ruining the deal. Let's see how this plays out. Wherever he lands, they will want to keep him on a pinarello.
Pidcock, Vadder & Colombo @ q36.5 ... wondering if we go for classics with Steimle and some mtb action by the other 3.... With no Grand Tours in sight... would be the perfect misch masch
Pogacar is a phenomenon and concern is can anyone compete with him? Vingegaard is most likely but even he at 100% probably 2nd best. As for Pidcock, INEOS aren't exactly setting world on fire last few years so can they afford to piss off one of their best riders? I can see him leaving and riding with a vengance for another team.
Re' the 3k rule, I would think it would have been fairer to give the fallen rider a time penalty of say 10 seconds. I mean, nobody falls to get the same finishing time as the winner. That fall that Roglic had could easily have injured his hip.
I think of the expression " if it looks too good to be true" then maybe it is. Lance Armstrong,Tom Boonan,,Marco Pantana and so on.Why is the question not being seriously asked. Sean Fox.DUBLIN 11
So, the Ineos management team seem to be, instead of passing on their (formerly) winning ways from cycling to the new Man U project, rather importing the incompetence from Manchester onto the cycling team. That's got to rank up there with other recent huge surprises like Harry Kane not getting a league title with Bayern.
Pogačar have had a great year, no doubt, thanks in part to the misfortune (accidents) of his main rivals. On the other hand, I really hope he is clean, and if he is, he must be Super Human. As far as comparing him to Merckx, in my mind, there will never be anyone like Merckx, for a lot of reasons.
Honestly, he won the world road race by only 36 seconds... So he didn't crush his opponents... not even O'Connor... You don't need drugs to beat O'Connor by 36 seconds. He fought hard to win Milan- San Remo and failed; he tried to lose Vingegaard on the last mountain stage of the Tour, when Vingegaard was coming into his own, and couldn't. He did not win the Ardennes Monuments. I remember Gimondi winning Paris- Roubaix by almost 5 minutes, before the drug age. There are illusions here that Pogacar is untouchable. But if he's the most complete and best rider of his time, there's always been one.
Tom would be better off with a team with ambition not just relying on their past results. As a team they haven’t performed for over 2 seasons. Can imagine lots of top teams would love Piddcock in their squad 👌🏽😉
Allegations are two a penny, especially from fans who would have preferred someone else to have achieved such greatness. Evidence is vastly more important than feelings, as is the presumption of innocence.
Tadej matured as an athlete, originally he was running on natural talent. Now he’s added in the background information like nutrition, x training, mental wellbeing and has nailed it. 🎉
But that doesn't make sense... no WT rider is not focusing nutrition etc. Perhaps he has given it more focus this year, but his level of improvement just from last year to this year is nothing short of miraculous.
@@FTA38yearfreeride That's not true. Look at Lombardia last year, he only got separation on the descent, lost Emelia and Coppa Sabatini. Even prior to the injury, he's margins of victory were much smaller/sprint wins. Also he fractured his wrist, not his shoulder
Re: INEOS & Pidcock kerfuffle - _"...starts to negatively affect..."_ 🤔 *Is that like worrying about deck chair location after the Titanic's iceberg hit?*
Yes, Pog has had a few great seasons in a row. To match the number of wins that Eddie has, Pog will need to win over 25 times each year for the next 15 years - let that sink in........

just a question !? how come so many prospective riders once they have a pro contract with a team performance orientated personal doctor seem to come on leaps and bounds above the rest of us mere mortals ??
If the management mess at Ineos is not already affecting the whole of the team I should be very, very surprised. It could go some way to explaining why they appear so "lost"
Sounds like Ineos management need some HR training. Has Pidcock got grounds for constructive dismissal? Toxic workplaces don't get the best from employees.
Theres a post above where someone says he must have pissed off top management. He has been running his own program and making choices on middle management for a while (didn’t he choose the DS for the TdF?), and the road results don’t bear out his status.
I find it strange that people are so excited by Pogacar's dominance. If he's going to steam-roller over everyone in any race that he chooses to be fully competitive in, where's the tension in watching it? It's like watching a thriller where it's patently obvious what's going to happen as soon as the opening credits roll...
I am not watching sport like a fictional movie - too trivial for me. I watch sport being impressed and excited by the performance. This makes Pog exciting.
@FTA38yearfreeride on the other hand... Ryan Kamp definitely made a hard pass that went wrong, but that definitely fell within the realms of a 'racing incident'. Ryan would have owed Eli an apology, but that's where it would have ended (except perhaps for the Belgian press). Iserbyt reaction though was hot headed, petulant and over the top. Serious damage to his reputation as everyone saw his actions. Obviously his fan club will demur, but that is how the rest of the world will see it.
Ineos' owner (Sir JR) and driving force (Sir DB) have got a bigger, better, shinier toy in Manchester United FC. Once a kid gets a shiny new toy, the old favourites get shoved to the side.
I'm a fan of Tom Pidcock. I like the way he rides as well as his matter-of-fact style in interviews. It's refreshing. Poor behavior from Ineos to deselect him on the team bus in front of the other riders. Shooting themself in the foot by letting go of their best chance for a good result. Hardly anyone on that team has performed well this year. Pidcock had some of the best results.
They've always been agh huntish cult. The cracks are now getting wider. It was amazing stuff 20011-2012 but it became monotonous, boring and horrible after that. There are a few exceptions but bed beckons.
If it’s true Pidcock was told of his “deselection” on the bus in front of the team, that’s about as shabby as it gets. If they’ll do that to a team star, just imagine what they’ll do to a typical domestique.
The stats are indeed truly unbelievable…. look up carbon monoxide’s effect on haemaglobin (a good place is to start is with the data on the haemaglobin of smokers which, you’ll find, is increased due to the effect of carbon monoxide). The key is to stop the CO in sufficient time before the race - about 10 to 14 days and the life span of a red cell is 120 days…
Re Pog, are you basically saying next season is a done deal so it’s barely worth watching cycling coverage (unless we all develop a passionate interest in minor places)? Maybe I should find another sport that is a lot less predictable?
The way Ineos has managed Pidcocks career (or allowed him to manage it himself - no idea whose idea another four years of cross country mountain biking after he’s already won a good medal was) is emblematic of the decline of the team in general.
The 4WD is well reviewed, but production has stopped (supplier issue), the sailing team has been good…up to a point. What were the others, well not enough to distract anyone from the business in hand.
What do you make of another victory for Pogačar, and what do you think is going on between Pidcock and Ineos Grenadiers? 👀
Ineos seem to have fallen off a cliff since Ratcliff bought Man United. Perhaps a coincidence, but something is seriously wrong there.

And yet we have a guy breaking records with the 'greatest season of all time' being managed by a guy with one of the dirtiest histories in all of cycling. Why is this? Have we all just given up caring, or is it because its bad for sponsors?
@@stevennorman3900 Excellent points, media is blind too, and UAE has all the money in the world to shut up anyone.
If he looked vaguely tired I might be less worried about how much is natural ability.
Love to know the stat's for Pogačar. I remember they released the statistics on Miguel Induráin and they were astounding.
Would be interested to hear an opinion on Eli Iserbyt's antics.
The angry dwarf 🤣
@@waltercai S happens
I was hoping for some insight on that.
Merckx 1972, Tour de France + 6 stages, Giro d, Italia + 4 stages, 3 monuments ( Milano San Remo, Lieja, Lombardia ), plus Flecha Brabancona, Fleche Wallonne, Giro Piamonte, Giro de Emilia.. for a total of 33 victories... plus Hour World Record at the end of the season, is the best season ever
Finally someone talking sense, I love pogi but I have to respect history

Thats Dope!
If it seems too good to be true… it likely is!
Jonus Vingegaard is the only guy who can follow Pogacar when the road goes skyward, and not blow up.
2025 will be the year of Pidcok so forget about those old grandpa's
AleJet! loved watching that guy.
Hey, heads up, there is an opening for the tour de france announcing at NBC due to a retirement.
Thanks for this weekly show. Missed GCN+ this year.
Pogacar is such a dominant player this season (and in previous seasons to be honest) that I can't help but ask. Is he being aided by any sort of performance enhancers that we don't know about or can test for? I'd like to confidently say no to this, but I've been burned before.
Its a question for the future, theres no answer now.
Idk about best. Most predictable is more like it. Pog was amazing. He was on another level.
Even without Pogi, UAE would still be on top and the strength and depth of their team is a key factor in his success. Look at the climbers they can burn before Pogi takes off - they’re among the best. In fact look at the entire team and there are racewinners or key supports like Majka in every slot.
Ha ragione Alan . Non ci sono posti sicuri per lasciare la bici , tipo gabbie box chiuse in prossimità di Stazioni, supermercati scuole fabbriche etc..All'estero esistono...
Pogacar found all the ingredients to his superhuman fitness.
🤔
GT sums Ineos up perfectly, it's messed up. Great team advert.
Sometimes a split between two parties is the best option for both sides. Good luck to Pidcock
As for tiny Tim Pidcock, I wonder what exactly the infighting is between Pidcock and DS Steve Cummings? Is Ineos done with Pidcock and vice versa? Where should Pidcock go if he is released? Would another Team buy his hefty contract? More questions than answers.
Or Ineos and Dan B.
Pidcock is gone, no chance he'll be there next year. I can't stand Ineos but there's no way I'd be happy about paying 2.5 million to a guy who thinks he's a GT contender but very much isn't
*But why de select him in front of his mates, unless mgmt wanted to embarrass him.*
Like Thobaut Pinot? 😂
@@Andy_ATB He's demonstrably not been worth it in the slightest this year
The Rat cliff pet project might have run its course!
the last two defeats on the tour have given him extra strength and motivation. this year he was angry and super motivated. it was simply amazing to see him race with that determination. in 20 years we will still remember his legendary shots, his attacks and the opponents that crumble like stones... his now legendary solo attacks from 100km to go... just wauuu!!
He is racing now for 5-6years and he is already a legend... thanks Tadej, for everything
Go our aussie girl Grace Brown
It was Barbara Guarischi who won stage 4 of the Simac Ladies Tour.
Jim Ratcliffe either sends Dave Brailsford back to Team INIOS or they fold. Difficult to see him accepting current performance and the Pidcock affair and just continuing the decline
Ineos went down the moment it became ineos if i remember correctly
I was trying to remember the timeline but I think it could be that Jim Ratcliffe ruined Sky/Ineos. All their key back room staff seem to be gone.
No cyclo cross results then Dan! No comment on the stamping on frame and😆😆 wheels!!!!!!
Dope anyone?
Merckx was a doper
Pogacar, feels to good to be true.
INEOS need Brailsford back to sort things out, Sir Jim should move quickly to prevent
the team from ending up as an also ran |||
Pogacar is in his Black Frieza Arc
Pogacar is a phenomenon and concern is can anyone compete with him? Vingegaard is most likely but even he at 100% probably 2nd best. As for Pidcock, INEOS aren't exactly setting world on fire last few years so can they afford to piss off one of their best riders? I can see him leaving and riding with a vengance for another team.
Re' the 3k rule, I would think it would have been fairer to give the fallen rider a time penalty of say 10 seconds. I mean, nobody falls to get the same finishing time as the winner. That fall that Roglic had could easily have injured his hip.
I predict Pogacar will take all the grand tours in 2025. Pidcocks issue is an unfortunate one. A split is the best now.
I think of the expression " if it looks too good to be true" then maybe it is. Lance Armstrong,Tom Boonan,,Marco Pantana and so on.Why is the question not being seriously asked.
Sean Fox.DUBLIN 11
SD-Works are a real team without vollering. Promising for next season.
Imagine how cool it would be if Pogi had done this clean 😅😅😅😅😅
silver lining would be seeing more of Tom riding CX and MTB
He only has a shot at CX, if MvdP and WvA do not show up
11:22 Barbara Guarischi, no?
Yes - stage 4. Well spotted!
you run a great show thank you.
Would like some doping allegations content, but I guess that’s quite tricky when your sponsors are directly in jeopardy
@@FTA38yearfreerideIt's way more than that. He dropped weight. Hired a new trainer. Pretty much changed up his program. It worked.
But that doesn't make sense... no WT rider is not focusing nutrition etc. Perhaps he has given it more focus this year, but his level of improvement just from last year to this year is nothing short of miraculous.
@@AP-wd6dv I’ve seen it before
@@FTA38yearfreeride That's not true. Look at Lombardia last year, he only got separation on the descent, lost Emelia and Coppa Sabatini. Even prior to the injury, he's margins of victory were much smaller/sprint wins.
Also he fractured his wrist, not his shoulder

*Is that like worrying about deck chair location after the Titanic's iceberg hit?*
Yes, Pog has had a few great seasons in a row. To match the number of wins that Eddie has, Pog will need to win over 25 times each year for the next 15 years - let that sink in........
If they replace the current peloton with the one Merckx raced against- a smorgasbord of postmen, clerks, average Joes etc, Pog may win 50 times a year no problem.
@@tonyg3091 Yes, Felice Gimondi, Luis Ocaña, Raymond Poulidor, Joop Zoetemelk, Jose Manuel Fuente, Roger de Vlaeminck, Rik van Looy, Freddy Maertens, Francesco Moser... just average Joes... anyway, i'm sure is the first time you have heard about half of them

just a question !? how come so many prospective riders once they have a pro contract with a team performance orientated personal doctor seem to come on leaps and bounds above the rest of us mere mortals ??
If the management mess at Ineos is not already affecting the whole of the team I should be very, very surprised. It could go some way to explaining why they appear so "lost"
Sounds like Ineos management need some HR training. Has Pidcock got grounds for constructive dismissal? Toxic workplaces don't get the best from employees.
Theres a post above where someone says he must have pissed off top management. He has been running his own program and making choices on middle management for a while (didn’t he choose the DS for the TdF?), and the road results don’t bear out his status.
@@TheRflynn Pidcock needs to win more than one road race a year to justify anything that comes out of his mouth.
You got to feel for Pogacar!, it's always going to be a case of damned if you do damned if you don't.
Why would he want to improve anything after this season. It would be great if he can keep this form next year I think !
No Iserbyt-beatdown chat?
@@andrewgturnbull he got mad..., he is human! So what !
Getting a big paycheck from both mountain and road racing is good for Pidcock.
Ineos' owner (Sir JR) and driving force (Sir DB) have got a bigger, better, shinier toy in Manchester United FC. Once a kid gets a shiny new toy, the old favourites get shoved to the side.
Yes and they are making a mess of that as well.
I want some of what Poggy is taking
Everyone is forgetting about a healthy Jonas. He is the only one on that level that can beat Pogarcar
UAe are a suss team
Probably best not to compare Pogačar with riders from the 'Past' with their history.
The sponsors won’t like it that’s for sure . Especially if that decision meant they were robbed of coverage
Every time I’ve heard Pozzovivo’s name in the last 2 seasons my brain goes “didn’t he retire ages ago?”. 😅
As far as I remember he did but decided to continue
Re Pog, are you basically saying next season is a done deal so it’s barely worth watching cycling coverage (unless we all develop a passionate interest in minor places)? Maybe I should find another sport that is a lot less predictable?
Words like 'unbelievable ' and 'incredible' totally apply to Pogacar.... in their truest sense 😏
The way Ineos has managed Pidcocks career (or allowed him to manage it himself - no idea whose idea another four years of cross country mountain biking after he’s already won a good medal was) is emblematic of the decline of the team in general.
INEOS Grenadiers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only question re Ineos is ,are they making a bigger a**e of their cycling team or Manchester Utd ?
The 4WD is well reviewed, but production has stopped (supplier issue), the sailing team has been good…up to a point. What were the others, well not enough to distract anyone from the business in hand.
Is that the Necronomicon on your bookshelf ?
