I have this case and I'm very happy with it. Runs a 3600>X1070. It actually did come with more screws than I need and a free USB hub, sounds like your particular AliExpress vendor messed that up maybe. The PSU fan noise is something that's hard to avoid for FlexATX PSUs. Many users specifically seek out the Enhance ENP-7660B (600W, Platinum) for this reason as it's basically the only PSU out there that's bearable with the stock fan. I personally simply decided to replace my PSU fan with a more silent one (which I plugged into the motherboard for RPM control). But opening up the PSU is something of a potential health risk and voids your warranty if you have one. Btw, it's not actually 3.9 litres. More like 4.4l externally
@@coryandrum My PSU only fits 15mm thick fans, since those are hard to find I went for a 10mm thick one, and used the _NoiseBlocker BlackSilentFan XM2_, the NF-A4x10 would be a more expensive alternative. If your PSU fits a 20mm thick fan, I would probably go with the NF-A4x20.

thank you for mentioning about the temps and noise too. a lot of tech builders just build ITX size like this and say its super cool to have a PC you can put inside ur bag but rarely says anything about the loudness
Thank you, I was looking at this case the other day for my LAN party/mobile setup and you convinced me to buy it. The loudness of the power supply is not really an issue as it is quite easy to replace the fan with noctua fan. Edit: So I have this case now and replaced the fan in the power supply for A4x20-FLX. It is almost completely silent now. No soldering is actualy needed as Noctua Omnijoin adaptor with 3M Skotchlok to connect cable from old fan to the Noctua fan is in the fan package.
@@MrChancebozey I used to have a silverstone 350-g in my velka 3, way too loud for my purposes, louder than the gpu. now i use an HDPLEX 400w DC to ATX + a dell LA330PM160 330w power brick which is completely silent because they don't need fans.

Probably should mention for people that don’t know, standard PC screws are 6/32 and M3 sizes. Noctua fan mod for the Flex ATX PSU is pretty mandatory. Just remove the old fan, screw in new fan and plug the Noctua fan into the MB fan header since it won’t plug into PSU without modding the cable. Much much quieter.
Just rewatching some of your previous catalogue again 🥰🥳🎉 awesome videos Brien 🥰🥳👍. Wow I was the last person to comment after the initial video release lol 😂 😆 😝(just below)
there's an easy fix for the power supply, these units are designed to be under heavy operation in a server environment so they have loud high airflow 40mm fans. simply removing it and replacing it with a noctua NF-A4x20 PWM will pretty much eliminate the noise and keep the power supply at decent temps, simply plug it into a fan header on the motherboard.
My dream build, great job. Only thing I would change is a bigger m.2 sata ssd. I think the layout of this case is better than the velka 3. That PSU fan can be swapped with a noctua fan according to optimum tech.👍👍👍
Terrific build! Innovative solution to saving space with the server rack power supply. Would make an interesting mini project to control the PSU fan speed based on a temperature reading from a wire probe. Love it! Keep the unique builds coming. This is exactly what I come to your channel for.
The volume is actually slightly larger. This is the K39 v2 case, v1 was 3.9L with CPU cooler clearance of 37mm (Noctua L9). The v2 version is slightly wider, allowing it to fit the 47mm tall Alpenfohn Black Ridge cooler. Black Ridge is the best CPU cooler you can fit in this, which is great for this size. The caveat is that not all motherboards will fit it - Asus Strix B450i is one that does (if you take the M.2 heatsink off), and Alpenfohn updated the AM4 bracket to accomodate more motherboards. Also, if you use the VLP (Very Low Profile) RAM, you can fit a 120mm fan under the Black Ridge, making it even better. Some guys have legitimately used a 9900K and 3900X in this case. BTW, the best PSU you can use is Enhance ENP 7660B 1U 600W Platinum, which is awesome and very cool, reducing the biggest issue of builds this small, noise. But it's not cheap and not easy to find...

Optimum Tech ran into a very similar problem when he tried to build a PC into the Velka 3 (which uses that same type of PSU, and is around the same size). There is a fix though, but it requires to void your warranty on the PSU. The fan is meant to run into a server room, meaning that the computer that PSU is going to give power to, is going to run full tilt for extensive periods, and you gotta keep the PSU cool in a server rack. The fan in itself is a 40mm industrial fan. It happens that Noctua does make very quiet 40mm fans, and you can replace it. I don't think the connection would be a 3/4pin connector, most likely a weird connection and soldering. If you have a free fan header on your MoBo (most likely, there is no fan in this system, except for the CPU), you can hook it on and configure it in the BIOS. Since this particular Noctua fan is more or less silent, you can put it at around 50% to 60% speed and call it a day, you won't streass this PSU as a server would anyway (By the way, Optimum tech used a passively cooled PSU that he double-sided tape on the bottom of the Velka 3, that PSU needs an external power brick to be functional)
As soon as you showed the PSU mounting location I knew it was a server PSU, and my first thought was, "Aww, it's going to be too loud." You could probably find a way to rig in a different quiet PSU like the HDPLEX 400W to fix that problem though. In any case (heh), nice work!
This is perfectly balanced PC and amazing performer for it's size - 3300X is as fast as any other Zen 2 CPU or Intel CPU with similar clocks speeds and RTX 2060 is still really strong GPU for some serious gaming at 1080p / 1440p. Only one thing is missing - Noctua 40mm fan mod for that PSU! That is something you will always need with these 4 litre SFF builds with Flex ATX. Flex ATX is meant for servers, not for desktop, therefore they are allowed in industrial settings to sound like miniature jet engines with it's 40mm x 10mm high speed fans. :D
Yeah I've seen other sff builds with server psu where they switch the 40 mm fan and some even solder a simple voltage knob to the fan cable for more control. Sweet build getting everything
Nice build. One thing of note when comparing AliExpress and your build was the PSU appears to be flipped, blocking more of the exhaust. I wonder if this adds more to the noise observed. Try flipping it 180.
it looks it called the K39 and they don’t recommend the PSU bundled with that case so you can swap it with a Delta, FSP or Silverstone Flex (1U) PSU or if you want to keep it, just replace fan of the PSU to a Noctua fan.
A Pico PSU would do this build a lot of justice. Heck the case could even be smaller with one. There are high wattage Pico PSUs up to 500 or maybe even 600W last time I checked. Not that expensive even. For those unfamiliar - 1U power supplies are built for server use, and in server use loud fans are very common (even large fans are louder - cooling is prioritized over noise since servers are usually isolated in separate rooms so noise won't bother anyone).
slightly larger case w/ more room for air flow and SFX power supply. Not sure correct: 1U power supply is for servers, and servers r placed in server rooms where AC controlled so a PS w/o good ventilation would be fine.
Yeah. If anyone is interested, I've done a build with a 3700X, RTX2060 and 32GB and it was quite noisy in idle with the furnished Metalfish Modular 500W (Not as much as in the video though, like holy crap!!) With a Enhanced 7660B 600W though I hear nothing (Like I actually need to get my ear close to the case to hear something). Maybe replacing the Metalfish fan with a 40*20 Noctua would've helped, so just be aware of that.
Brian you should look into getting a TFX (1u) psu from GEEEK. They offer customized psus with a 40mm noctua fan instead of the stock jet engine fan. They also offer many sub 10L cases, like the a30 that's similar to the case you showed.
The name of the case in TaoBao is called K39 which represents 3.9-liter sizing & comes with black, silver & red color & there are several models available such as K49, K55, K66, K77, K99, etc. It uses a 1U PSU (Sever type) & you can change the fan into a Noctua mini fan to eliminate the noise, or custom modify the PSU fan if you're tech savy enough to mod a PSU. Requires a GPU raiser cable, careful with the screwing don't over tighten it since it's aluminum easily breaks & loses the track. The link provided --> world.taobao.com/item/571416909587.htm
Recommendation for the Silverstone FX600 platinum. Been running it for the better part of six months in an open air config 18 inches from my head. Powering a 5600x and a 3070 I never hear it and it is the only one of the fans I haven't fine tuned. It wasn't cheap, but really worth every penny.
Get a switch mode power supply, I think that's the name. They use them in medical equipment and is the size of a credit card. They are very expensive but can enable the smallest builds.
I Just build a A31 Geeek. It is very small case. Slightly larger than this. I am using 3700x with 5600xt. The 500w Athena PSU I bought for it fan sounds like a Harrier jet while gaming. You will need to do a fan conversion for build this small if you intend to game on them. Or spring for a high dollar flex psu. I ordered a small 20mmX40MM Noctua Fan, To replace the loud one in the PSU. Other Flex PSUs might require the smaller 15mm fan. There were some nice quiet flex PSUs but they are very expensive and most don't go over 400w. I wanted more power. The Athena is Silver rated 500w for $120. The Noctua is 15.00. So My PSU cost me about $135 for 500 watts. Its not modular but has all the right cables. In fact two many and long cables for small case. Good think the GEEEk A31 has space to store them. I don't think the case in this video would. That extra inch of space is about how much bigger the A31 is. Just to note, it may be worth spending the 160+ for an already quiet and modular PSU, if you build something like this and you don't want to be bothered with a fan conversion. I kind of knew it might be loud from what I was reading before building and I figure it be no big deal for me. But trust me, it is. You can hear this thing from across the house when its at max fan speed.
lol, I saw the Flex ATX "1U" psu at the beginning and I was wondering "oh where did he find a 1U power supply with a fan not built for a server room"? Keep looking my friend.
I love some good itx action. I have a very similar build in an NFC S4 mini. I used Gigabyte’s 2070 mini (because I got a great deal on it). Thanks for showing itx some love. Keep up the great work.
Totally agree that having a gaming PC in such a small size and footprint is something special! I'm obsessed with SFF PCs. Why does tech have to be bigger than is has to be? :) I built a system in this case last year. Sorry to hear the screws didn't make it to you. I can confirm that they come with a set - so it's probably the seller's fault here. The power supply fan does get loud but this one seems unreasonably loud compared to the one I ordered. Lots of people here talking about the DIY Noctua fan mod, but the Geeek.com store sells them pre-modded with the Noctua fan already so that might be worth checking out.
Cool video. Would be a great build if you could find another psu that was not as loud or come up with a pwm fan solution for the psu that would reduce the noise without overheating the unit. Awesome as always
Hi BPS Customs, hi from Australia 🇦🇺😁🖐. excellent pc and case review umm just a quick note 🤔.... this is also an Australian adapter 🤣😂 I guess we’re part of the Asia / Pacific region 🤣😂🥳.
Yeah, I have the same case, a 3700X and GTX 1080, and it’s significantly quieter at load than this is at idle. You need an Enhance 7660B 600W 80+ Platinum PSU, which is the only PSU that can really be recommended because it doesn’t get too loud.
Darn. I was waiting for the dreaded wiring portion of that building montage lol. Loved the video! If only ITX parts were easier and cheaper to come by. I settled on mATX just recently.
You can do SSFF with a quieter operation. Take a look at the Velka cases, like Velka 3 or Velka 5. Otherwise, try upgrading the fan in the PSU to a Noctua or similar. What kills this build for me is the 2060, throw a mini ITX 5700 in and undervolt it ftw.
Nicely small build, built well! I *thought* I was building small with my 7 liter LZ7 case...clearly I was not. Still, I'm happy with mine. Rather quieter and my temps are well controlled with the same cpu cooler as this build and--since I have the room--another Noctua fan for case cooling. I wanted to do some gaming at 1440p and I do quite a bit of photo editing so lots of storage for film scans. Built this last fall: Lazer 3D LZ7 case X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI Ryzen 3700x RTX 2070 Mini 32 GB 3600 RAM 6TB storage--2 x 2TB M.2 on mobo and 1 x 2TB Sata ssd 650W SFX power. Noctua NH-L9A Noctua 120 x 15 slim fan. Your build is almost half the size of mine and pretty awsome! Thanks for showing us this.
If you do fan swap on that PSU or change it to a Enhance ENP-7660B, u won't have that atrocious noise. Even my Delta 500W 1U PSU isn't that loud at load.
I think I have seen a video where they changed the PSU fan for a less noisy solution (Noctua has this size of fan and it's not noisy), maybe that would solve the only issue with this build. But other than that, this build is amazing, congrats!
I/O shield has kidnapped the screws and holding them in secure location :D that noise is 40 mm PSU fan, running at like 5000 rpm, they dont care about noise in server rooms, just cooling
Interesting build. I have a question/idea. In the space where the power supply is, can you put 3.5 inch hard drives in that space and switch to a pico based power supply? If so, that would take care of the noise issue and allow for more storage space.
replace the fan with a maglev fan, you'll be amazed. one downside I've found with some of the 1u PSUs is that the quality of the power isn't that great and could hurt stability if you're into downvolting your components.
A better cooler (47mm tall) for that build is the thermalright AXP90, you can find it in Aliexpress, i have it and ir works like a dream for the space.
I have a velka 3 with a ryzen 3700x and the gigabyte rtx 2060 mini, but i need the system to be quiet, so i use an HDPLEX 400W DC to ATX with a dell LA330PM160 330W power brick, both of which are fan-less. The HDPLEX sits in the case and the power brick plugs into it. It means you also have to transport a power brick as well as the pc, but it's honestly not a big deal and super worth it for a damn near silent system(unless you're gaming, but i undervolted the gpu to make it a bit quieter).
Would you recommend this build as a main gaming pc my dad in the military and we move alot so I'd rather have a small pc than run the risk of having it damaged in shipping
Still waiting on the the case, already got the FSP Flex Guru (that i would not recommend, but i bought 3 flex psu's and don't want to try more; get the enhanced one) with a noctua swap, currently using the Geeek A31 with a 3600 and 2060.
w8 w8 w8! If you want a Quallity non-chinese-firecracker PSU or any other wierd formfactor, than check out Silverstone! If its wierd, they probably have it. YES they have a 1U TSF PSU with 350w or so. for the PSU sound. Before using the PSU you have to disassamble the PSU and best put in a Noctua 40mm fan run the cable out of the PSU and plug it into Mobo and tie its Fancurve to Temp of CPU via the Bios, not an elegant way, but fixes the fan noise problem!
I have this same motherboard, can you tell me about any wifi issues you may have had with it? For instance, while uploading files over wifi, the mouse suddenly turns into a stuttery, jerky mess 5ghz does not work for me for some reason, only 2ghz, and it's slower than my phone/laptop on the same band all drivers are up to date, bios updated, etc
I know I mentioned it early in the video, but just in case you didn't catch it - All gaming testing was done at 1080p and Ultra settings

Nice build. One thing of note when comparing AliExpress and your build was the PSU appears to be flipped, blocking more of the exhaust. I wonder if this adds more to the noise observed. Try flipping it 180.
Something like this would be really good for LAN parties or for people who move alot but need a powerful and affordable PC
it looks it called the K39
and they don’t recommend the PSU bundled with that case so you can swap it with a Delta, FSP or Silverstone Flex (1U) PSU or if you want to keep it, just replace fan of the PSU to a Noctua fan.

This is awesome, unique build..first on youtube to build gaming PC with this form factor and server power supply!
I want something like this for travel gaming.
Awesome job man, i subbed
I love some good itx action. I have a very similar build in an NFC S4 mini. I used Gigabyte’s 2070 mini (because I got a great deal on it). Thanks for showing itx some love. Keep up the great work.
I have one of these its called a K39 - I have a 9900k & rtx2060 in mine! Cooling the cpu has been a journey on its own!
Totally agree that having a gaming PC in such a small size and footprint is something special! I'm obsessed with SFF PCs. Why does tech have to be bigger than is has to be? :)
I built a system in this case last year.
Case is a k39..it should come with the screws
Change the psu fan to a noctua 40x20mm one and its going to be silent.
Wow great vid man! Love this compact builds. Would like to see how it performs in a daily basis
Very enjoyable video, thanks.
Cool video. Would be a great build if you could find another psu that was not as loud or come up with a pwm fan solution for the psu that would reduce the noise without overheating the unit. Awesome as always
Love it. Feeling very inspired!
You need an Enhance 7660B 600W 80+ Platinum PSU, which is the only PSU that can really be recommended because it doesn’t get too loud.
too many cables, you need a modular one like his
This is one of the best UA-camrs that I have seen on the app
Nicely small build, built well!
I *thought* I was building small with my 7 liter LZ7 case...clearly I was not. Still, I'm happy with mine. Rather quieter and my temps are well controlled with the same cpu cooler as this build and--since I have the room--another Noctua fan for case cooling.
I wanted to do some gaming at 1440p and I do quite a bit of photo editing so lots of storage for film scans. Built this last fall:
Lazer 3D LZ7 case
X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI
Ryzen 3700x
RTX 2070 Mini
32 GB 3600 RAM
6TB storage--2 x 2TB M.2 on mobo and 1 x 2TB Sata ssd
650W SFX power.
Noctua NH-L9A
Noctua 120 x 15 slim fan.
Your build is almost half the size of mine and pretty awsome!
Thanks for showing us this.
Most server type power supplies are loud like that. As soon as I heard it brought me back walking into server rooms.
You can get a quieter Flex ATX power supply, or install a 40x20 Noctua into that one.
Not sure if you would be willing to mod the fan in that power supply and replace it with a noctua tiny fan. That might solve your problem?
You should have used a "pico" power supply. Great build, great channel.
Are those PSU cables not copper? You might also open up the PSU and replace the fan and control it via the motherboard.
I still think the "sweetspot" for ITX rigs are still the Dan Case / Louqe Ghost S1 size. Have had both of those, still using the Ghost S1.
I/O shield has kidnapped the screws and holding them in secure location :D
that noise is 40 mm PSU fan, running at like 5000 rpm, they dont care about noise in server rooms, just cooling
Thank you so much for making a build like this. This case is alternative for velka 3.
(Edit)
Can you use R5 3600 right?
Follow up video replacing the loud PSU with a Pico PSU & external power brick?
Interesting build. I have a question/idea. In the space where the power supply is, can you put 3.5 inch hard drives in that space and switch to a pico based power supply? If so, that would take care of the noise issue and allow for more storage space.
It is possible to swap the psu fan with a noctua. It is an added price and work to do but it will substantially reduce noise.
replace the fan with a maglev fan, you'll be amazed. one downside I've found with some of the 1u PSUs is that the quality of the power isn't that great and could hurt stability if you're into downvolting your components.
The K39 is absolutely insane
Was that power supply rated?? 80+ bronze, gold anything??
The sound is coming from the PSU,
Change the PSU fan and it will be silent. You will find PSU fan options for noctua.
Great Job, Love your vids
I recently had one of these builds. I ended up selling it. I used the Enhance ENP-7660b for the PSU.
why did you sold it?
literally behind the tower, i thought he was gonna jam all those components from the full size into a SFF. i chuckled
I wonder if you can swap out the PSU fan for a Noctua to potentially make the PSU more quiet
Nice! Ordered a flex atx psu some tome ago waiting for it for a Velka 3. Basicfally the same case with little bit more configurability.
Could probably swap the PSU fan for a Noctua, I think Optimum Tech did something similar with a like PSU! That build has me getting some idea haha
Would you recommend this build as a main gaming pc my dad in the military and we move alot so I'd rather have a small pc than run the risk of having it damaged in shipping
There are flex psu that are quiet + deliver more than enough power. Recommend to look in to it.
So this case is the weird child of a Dan case and an Inwin Chopin, cool. Have you ever done / would you consider doing a build in a skyreach mini?
Thanks for linking the case, didn't want to search by name 😅
Noctua has small fans that you can replace the ones on the psu with, that could probably make it quieter
Re. noise: An HDPlex would take care of that.
Re.: 1U vs. TFX, would a TFX PSU fit? It looks like it could?
No, FlexATX only
Still waiting on the the case, already got the FSP Flex Guru (that i would not recommend, but i bought 3 flex psu's and don't want to try more; get the enhanced one) with a noctua swap, currently using the Geeek A31 with a 3600 and 2060.
Hey you can swap the PSU fan to a Noctua A4X20 . Just a matter of cutting wires and swapoing connecto they include sthg to secure the connection after
Have you changed the fan on the PSU? if so, which one did you use?
I have this same motherboard, can you tell me about any wifi issues you may have had with it?
For instance, while uploading files over wifi, the mouse suddenly turns into a stuttery, jerky mess
5ghz does not work for me for some reason, only 2ghz, and it's slower than my phone/laptop on the same band
all drivers are up to date, bios updated, etc
We couldn't find your page
But we still have millions more shopping items for you to browse. Aliexpress link is down. But, and awesome little build!
