    I LOLed at "burgerwitz" for bergschrund. That's a malaprop I would make. Awesome video and an impressive climb!

    This is so awesome, I am getting ready to start mountaineering very soon, mt hood is on my quick list of to do's with my coworkers who summit a few times every season. thanks for giving me an idea of what to expect!

    I'm not really scared of heights but wow, that ridge sunk my stomach! That was intense. Great video man.

      Keep in mind that the camera he is using exaggerates the steepness, particularly when pointed down.

    A really good video, thanks for sharing...gotta get some of the details correct though...summit is to the right of the pearly gates, on the "catswalk" or summitt ridge, looking opposite of the southside would be the northside, the mountains in that background would be Helens, Adams and rainier...the "burgurwitz" had me laughing (bergshrund)...i luved the little sledding at the end! Great job taking your time and being careful!

    Great work on this and showing all the terrain and views! I will be doing it very soon. I would say the ridge feels like it may be my least favorite, aside from the views.

    Fantastic video. I did the Mazamas basic training back in 2010 thinking I wanted to climb mountains. I learned that my fear of heights was definitely getting in the way. I finally did Mt St Helens this year and I want to do South Sister but I had already decided to skip Mt Hood or indeed any technical climbing. But I've always been curious what climbing the south side would be like and now you have taken me there! Thank you so much for posting this.

      Mount Adams and Mount Shasta are other good choices if you want to climb high peaks that don’t involve technical climbing.

    F %^&*( that, You have a big cojones my friend. That looks scary. I attempted it last May and
    didn't make it, it was not enough snow. Congratulations

      snow level seemed low even in this video. this was a great video. but that looks like low snow levels on the top for summiting. I live and work on mt hood for 8 years now. I love mt hood.

      Backpacked the entire PCT?? That’s definitely more of an achievement than this lol not to diminish Hood climbers but PCT takes more of everything haha

    This video I think is convincing me to tell my friend no I wont climb it with him... That ridge is really too much. Anyone ever fall off when they are with a guide?

  • @jamesostensen3187
    @jamesostensen3187 5 років тому

    Great Video, that ridge was a bit sketchy. In your opinion which is more difficult, Rainier or Hood?

    • @aaronattig5244
      @aaronattig5244 5 років тому +1

      Rainier is harder imo. The hike to base camp of Rainier is about 1200 foot below the summit of Hood. So basically once you summit hood (-1200 ft) you "sleep" for 3 hours before you climb 4,500 feet to the summit of Rainier. Hood took us a total of 7 hours, from car to car. Rainier is just longer, extra pack weight, more elevation juts makes it harder.

    This video is hard to hear. Like so many of us who are starting out making videos, it's hard to remember: when looking away from the microphone, turning your back (or face) don't keep talking. Point to where you are going, then turn your head BACK to the mic to talk. Otherwise we can't hear you unless we crank up the volume to max then back down, then up then down......I'm sure you get the picture after watching yourself.
