- MOUNT HOOD is a slice of HEAVEN in OREGON! Our first stop at Mount Hood was at Trillium Lake which might be one of the most scenic places to take a canoe ride in the entire world. Next was our early morning hike to Tamanawas Falls. THIS WATERFALL WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD! Last we stopped at Little Crater Lake to see some of the clearest blue water our eyes have ever seen! You have highlighted my home in this video. I lived for 5 years 20 miles north of the mountain in the upper Hood River Valley. I had a full view of the mountain’s north face, it’s sheerest and most beautiful side. I had to leave because of the 2008 recession. I lost my home and my job, and had to return to California. It absolutely broke my heart. Be aware that if you visit this area, you’ll want to live there...guaranteed.

Great video!! I have lived all over the U.S. and discovered Oregon back in the early 80's. Moved here and have never left!!! Oregon has it all...........Ocean beaches, mountains, The Gorge, High Desert, great wine country.............need I say more??

So cool that your video starts off with a shot of the mouth of the Klickitat river and the town of Lyle. I grew up in Klickitat and played football in Lyle. I launched my jet ski so many times from that area and rode in the Columbia river. Next time you're back in the area venture up the Klickitat river or the little White Salmon river, you will not regret it. You will not regret visiting the town of Trout Lake!

I just found you guys today recommend while watching van life videos. I only watch van life and sailing vlog's . I really enjoy your good content and A/V ! I subscribed 1) be coming because I enjoy your work and 2) after running an errand I had a hell of a time finding you through Google ! Lots of stuff that starts w/ the other side ! Another amazing video guys! I loved doing a family road trip in the northwest States, but there's so many places to see that I'll have to go back again! Question for Ian, do you prefer to have a "theme" music track for all your videos or is it just for editing convenience?
Sam I was just talking to Ana about how great this comment is! So the way I edit videos is that I choose a good song that fits the first cinematics of the video (kinda the vibe I’m trying to portray with the area). Then I will use that same song for transition periods like car rides or mini cinematics at the next location. In this Mount Hood video I used 3 different songs throughout that I thought kept the flow of the video (I Hope!)

How are you able to fly a drone in the area? Our drone app shows its restricted.
You can go onto DJI.com and authorize that area for your drone or you can do it within the app. Depending on what drone you are using

Why on earth would you use a jackery to power a coffee maker? Well, yes, it works, but what's wrong with heating water in a pot and pouring it over your coffee? You live in a van and you have room for a coffee maker? I'd think that's a waste of space on a unitasker. Get a collapsible silicone brew cone and it uses virtually no space beyond the pot you have anyways and you have the charge in the jackery for camping under trees etc. when your solar panel doesn't do much. I ran out of power parked in Mt Hood National Forest last year and I have 200Ah of lithium batteries in my teardrop - but even my 3 solar panels didn't make up for the dense canopy. I for one rather use propane for cooking and heating than electricity - I need that for my fridge and the propex heater I have and of course to charge things from phones, tablets to cameras and drone - but mostly for the fridge.

Skied across the frozen Trillium lake. Be aware however, the times have changed, lots of tweakers living next to the lake, and theft from cars snd tents are epidemic. Just be aware , its beautiful, but some bad dudes occupy the area, and are predatory.
Do you guys carry a weapon? For Bears or Mountain Lions.
