Great video and shots with the car on the move. I’ve got an e250 cdi estate and it gets the same fuel consumption as my Mini Cooper. I can fit my road bike in the back without taking the wheel off. The car is super practical. The only bug bear is the ground clearance. You’ve got to be really careful with speed bumps. I’ve live in inner city Sydney and parking such a big car can be tricky. I had a 1979 280TE in my early 20s and you can really see the design evolution.
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment. Great point about the ground clearance. These are surprisingly low slung. 15 years ago a car this low would have been considered “slammed”. The low center of gravity and tight ground hugging design makes it a really impressive car at higher speeds on the motorway. Cheers and again, thanks so much for watching!

I have a 2014 S212 E350 estate (facelift) and it’s been so good. Minor things such as seep tone belt pulley chirping and a slow leak on the T-stat. I’m experienced working on old European cars and this is such an easy car to work on. Ample space in the engine bay and for the most part, normal tools to do the jobs. Great car for an experienced do-it-yourselfer. I have a w126 and it reminds me of that in the way it’s accessible to work on. 60k on mine now and the headlights are still crystal clear. I do like the improvements they made on the facelift (over 1 BILLION spent on R&D on the 2014 facelift) and while I don’t like the front as much it makes up for it with some great interior improvements. But all 212 E350s are just such solid cars and very under-rated. Thanks for the great video!

In Europe it was used widely as taxi cabs, which makes it possible for us poor people to buy a relatively new W/S212, though with high mileage… But for me, Mercedes is all about diesel. They make the best and most frugal diesel engines out there. I know the 212 E350 were available in the US with a 3.0 V6 CDI and 210 HP. It would be your choice if you compared it to your gas 350. Try to look for a version with this engine. Here in Europe there were two versions of the E350 CDI; a 231 hp and 540 Nm torque (just shy of 400 ft. lbs.) and a 265 hp and 620 Nm (460 ft. lbs). They are both pulling strong and the most impressive part is that the latter version has a better fuel economy than the first! The average fuel consumption is respectively 33 and 39 mpg!! Today I’m going to take a closer look at a 2010 S212 E350 CDI (231 hp version), with 317000 miles on the clock, that could be my next daily driver!! The sad part of being riding with style, comfort and the best diesel engine powered car is a heavy taxation; It’ll cost me around $1500 a year in road tax, but i’m willing to pay, as long as it’s still legal to drive and own a diesel car……

Always the MB tech and the wood. Get an optioned car and one that has no rear air and the 302hp 273ft-lb variants. Anytime the "Mericans" get a hold of a company or it's assembled in Mexico, Canada or 'Alabama', you are in trouble with reliability. Germany is the only option. Just like Toyotas (Toyodas)/Lexus made in Japan. The latest 2000s BMWs without the horrid run flat tires are the honey years. In Germany a wagon is more popular than in the States. I think more than the half of them here are wagons. On the other hand there are many 4-cylinder, above all Diesel on the street. If you drive taxi in Germany almos every car is a Mercedes E-Class Diesel. The car market is much different than in other countries. By the way: You can´t buy a VW Jetta in Germany, because nobody want this.
My pleasure. I love mine. Don’t care for the saloon (U.S sedan). Dislike the facelift and subsequent look-alike models. Still have our 1993 W201 from almost-new. After the W201 & W124 M.B had a new Chief Exec who insisted that the cars had been over engineered ( they were) and that they should be built to a cost. Begin the disastrous decline in reliability and rust . The W212 restored their reputation.
