That is the top of the iceberg that I imagine most people never both to see beyond. Under the surface I would say it's bigger than that. We live in a postmodern culture where capitalism has turned truth into a commodity that is constantly being shaped and altered to manipulate us. Wealth is concentrating in the hands of fewer people and the incredible chaos and disruption of faster and faster changes in technology have left people unsettled and distrustful of everything. Cancel culture allows people to feel they have some measure of control over things. It may only be ephemeral, for sure, but it makes people feel temporarily better. Its a cool picture but I was hoping this would be an animation to more easily represent to people the concept. Seems like the image goes with an essay written by Peter.
I think that symbolism is stronger in still images than it is in motion picture because it uses your capacity to extrapolate/invent/create more from the "root concept" than from something too sophisticated. The mystery is what makes any cult / religion stronger. In this case, like they said, they want to create a symbol behind the act of cancelling someone. A symbol so strong that we would see it as something "evil". I think they are doing it right. Still images give you more head space for interpretation thus enrougages you to think about the concept longer and then create your own links and analogies.
This reminds me of the modern gods in the series American Gods, that wage war against Odin and the Old Gods for the worship of the masses. This also reminds me of the Autocults that Pat Ryan talked about on the Dark Stoa. A must-watch. The Cancel God is the new incarnation of the "God of War". It is the incarnation of war itself, as an embodied being. Using the ultimate form of violence.
It is important for those who support free speech, critical thinking, and open dialogue to have a rich body of artistic symbols and representation of their side. Thank you artists for giving a deeper meaning to these ideas!

Excellent rendition of a new archetype, the cancel god, whose intention is to destroy "The Light" which comes from our Mighty God. "Light is Dynamic," darkness is lifeless.
This is brilliant. But i believe the phenomenon we are currently observing in our culture is a manifestation of the devouring mother archetype. She has bound the father in both his benevolent and malevolent forms and seeks to protect the most vulnerable of her children by devouring or destroying each threat as it arises. Left unchecked she will eat all of her children down to the last one in order to protect it from the pains of existence itself.
Interesting you say this. I agree with you. I have started to see chattel slavery in America as the equivelant of the Malevolent Father archetype that took ahold of America. America used the opportunity presented by the Enlightenment thinkers to cast off religion for reason, to make the case for it's independence against Another manifestation of the manevolent father, the British Monarchy, and support creating a Democratic Republic. All the while, in order to edify itself as the better government, led by better people, America, and most of Western Europe for that matter, had to caste its shadow self onto someone or something in order to embrace the social change neccessary to finally shake off the bounds of Feudalism and the dark ages. The "dark continent" of Africa was the one continent all the European countries agreed on, and its enslavement heralded in a new structure of society: Colonialism. Yes, I am suggesting that colonialism, because of the international slave trade, was the structure out of which capitalism was born and matured. And I say all of this to pose the question, does this mean in order for us as a society to eventually cast off the chains of cancel culture, we must first play it out to its inevitable end? Which was civil war and hundreds of years of "damage control" the reprcussions of which are still experienced today: aka Cancel Culture. On the other side, though, was also meritocratic capitalism, the industrial revolution and a multicultural world (Rise of the Benevolent Father?). Will the new price, still yet to be determined, be worth the gain? Just like our forefathers, who never could have predicted the outcomes of the rise and fall of the malevolent father societies, I must say, I don't think we can successfully predict the outcome of the malevolent mother society either...Perhaps the benevolent mother?
@@Mary-Mar I do not believe the benevolent mother can rise unless the benevolent father has first placated the malevolence of the mother. He must do this through love, restraint, and self discipline. The father is the natural leader and the mother allowed for this for a long time. When I say the mother has bound the father, she has not done this through force, it was through guilt. The patriarchal sins of the west are many and boundless in their horrors. I am inclined to believe this came to a head in the second world war. Imagine the spirit of the father is represented by fascist ideology and and the mother by communist. The father is foremost a disciplinary authoritarian, capable of much but perverse in his need to dispose of his weakest children. The mother in turn seeks to provide for the most vulnerable of her children but does so by devouring those who cause the most grief by real and contrived reasons. In both cases the results are the same, human suffering. Only the father was brought to justice for his sins. The mother was not. If we apply this same thought to the political right and left of today, there is still no balance. The father seeks progress but leaves many behind. The mother again seeks to provide for all of her children equally. Each feels the need to lead the other but without love and mutual respect, constantly reminding each other of their past and present sins. Balance is the key to bringing out the benevolent qualities of each while providing a peaceful outlet for the malevolence of the shadow.
@@gregoryteeple9306 This is very true. I came to WWII as well as the culmination of manevolent father in the West, but didn't see Fascist V. Communist connection as you did. However, it makes sense. The balance you speak of is very true. I still feel the benevolent mother should "rise." Not to replace the benevolent father, because as you put it, the father is a disciplinary authoritarian. That is his role. However, the mother does bring forth life and protects it. We most see "power" as a multifaceted energy. Itself made up of both the masculine and the feminine. I think there is a reason monarchies ruled their respective territories since early civilization. Why dynasties ruled in the East and "first families" are the face of leadership today. On a viseral level we understand that power is a balance of the benevolent father and mother archetypes. I suspect Communism and cancel culture will continue to be issues we will contend with and other versions of them until the benevolent mother is asked to take her rightful seat next to the benevolent father. She, protecting and nurturing life. Not just human life, but also the animal kingdom and the planet as a whole. All the while respecting and supporting the fathers vision for stability, integrity, personal responsibility and freedom.

The only way to stop the Cancel God is to properly understand your own emotions and triggers. When you have the urge to pass judgment or fly into rage, step back check the facts and try to understand why the situation is upsetting you and wait. Take time to decide if a reaction is even needed. It’s hard to accept but our minds can only take in limited amounts of information and misguided emotions can push us into unhealthy reactions. Sometimes you have to decide this is ‘not my circus’, and I have nothing to contribute to the situation so I’m walking away.

This is one of THEE GREATEST things I have seen in such a very long time. The way you guys explain it is so BRILLIANT in all its truth... People really need to see this as it is truly just mind blowing! 🤯🤯🤯 Great stuff, I'm sharing to FB 👍❤️🔥
Brilliant. The presentation as a god is actually very apropos. It is an archetype of mind control. I’ve been reading John Stuart Mill after being cancelled in online forums and being attacked and trolled for weeks: “Reflecting persons perceived that when society is itself the tyrant - society collectively over the separate individuals who compose it - its means of tyrannizing are not restricted to the acts which it may do at the hands of its political functionaries. Society can and does execute tie own mandates... ... it practices social tyranny more formidable than many kinds of political oppression... penetrating more deeply into the details of life and enslaving the Soul itself.” (From On Liberty, ch 1) I actually think that this archetype, this goddess of control and dominance is the archetypal feminine animus of the collective unconscious... She is Hera. Jealous, Spiteful, manipulative and vengeful and does it in a way that that steals pride, honour and dignity and posts the monster, Argus Panoptes, with his hundred eyes to guard those things from us, such that every attempt to retrieve it is thwarted because when this monster sleeps, a third of it’s eyes are still keeping watch. This is what peterson points out in his observation of Conscientiousness (from the big five) writ large in the population as being conservative politically. A group consciousness, distributed cognition, with resonance in a population. It emerges from the common psychological/psychic patterns held in common trait by individuals in the group as the group forms coherence. This cancel behaviour when personified as a god or the archetype write large shares many of the same traits as people in the Cluster B personality disorders like borderline, narcissist, sociopath and psychopath. It’s a culture that lacks empathy, distorts reality, has deep wounds that manifest as hunger for psychic energy. Jung called this the animus. It’s a terrifying manifestation of psychic manipulation and control at scale
Rebecca Aldrich I realized I got pretty dense there and maybe put a book’s worth of thought into a couple sentences, and I’m swimming in the language of alchemy and hermetic philosophy which doesn’t translate well sometimes. Archetypes follow the old alchemical maxim: as above; so below. As individuals we can express or channel or be possessed by archetypes (like Ideologies). Society or groups can also be possessed by archetypes. When this happens, we can clearly see godlike characteristics at the scale of groups and societies. Before monotheism, we had language and vocabulary to describe the expression of archetypes within individuals and society. Maybe we can most easily see this in the example of when we (or groups of men/warriors) are possessed by the god “War” who we knew as Ares/Mars. We exhibit certain broad patterns of behaviours when possessed by gods like war; society experiences certain traumas, mobilizes itself in certain ways against the threat, makes certain “sacrifices” to that god as it were. As a means of language and classifications and communications, cultures other than our cosmological/psychically impoverished one, could once speak about these things in the abstract as a form of shorthand: One might have said, “Ares is on the march” and everyone would know exactly what that meant. The cult of the Greek Goddess Hera, wife of Zeus/Jupiter, is what we are seeing now in this “Critical Race/Gender Theory” possessed mob, but many other pantheons have a female goddess that is an analogue to this. You see, contrary to what we understand about the transpersonal framework of existence from the Christian monotheist grammar and syntax, where God is outside of us and is the only God, and we must WORSHIP Him, other cultures experience the influence of the gods all around them all the time without presuppositions of worship or devotion. Speaking of The Gods in this way is not a framework for worship specifically, but a vocabulary of phenomenology that affects us as individuals (Microcosm/as below) and as groups/societies (Macrocosm/as above). This video is terrific because it starts to approach this way of thinking - but didn’t quite get to the point of actually naming the god (or rather goddess). And we have a name for her, we have a vocabulary of story and characteristics of her within our collective mythologies because we have seen her manifest before, many times. and it’s not pretty. The myth tells us how to defeat her, the hydra who grows a new head every time you cut one off/or the monster with a hundred eyes. It’s coded in ancient story if we know how to look at the story. How do I know this? I learned to see the world through a mythic lens and use it as a framework for analysis. So I babble like a crazy alchemist sometimes, swirling his elixirs in his alembics, and concocting and decocting ideas about the world through a different grammar and syntax than we normally use is the modern western world
Just in case we we all start reading H.S. Chamberlain's corruption of Kant's ectype/ archetype, while listening to Donovan's Season of the Witch i thought a couple of things about Mill. his position cannot be characterised merely as negative freedom from (I. Berlin Two Concepts of Liberty) Since Mill holds a utilitarian view of morality it is at once involving quasi relations of obligation claim and entitlement as each person is to be related to every other through a comparison of quantities and qualities of pleasure and pain. This then involves metric measurements of each person in the whole community and programs of redistribution to maximise total aggregate Happiness and to minimise total aggregate pain. Clearly this is beyond the powers of individuals on their own and so must be mediated by a state that has access to: an omniscient view of everybody's well being and omnipotent power to achieve correction of deviation from maximum good total distribution this implies an omnipresence that leaves no private space of negative freedom. a science to measure everyones happy and sad thoughts and drug distribution for correction since Mill seems to have had a scientific causal view of man apt for continuous technical modification. the end state produced is not so much incompatible with the problem of evil as seeming to constitute its necessity. For your behavioural modification to increased pleasure might i suggest a look at Henry Sidgwick (the compositional fallacy in Mill). and a bit harder G.E.Moore (the naturalistic fallacy) read along with W.D. Ross (on rights) and a real tuffy Bernard Williams (government house morality and internal verses external reasons). This last one involves a certain masochistic pleasure. Your increased pleasure will balance out with my increased pain in writing this all mediated by the absolute You Tube.
harvey young fascinating, I’m not doing a deep dive on Mill at this moment, it had merely struck me in the way that he described the influence of tyrannical groups within society, not of the government, being the destroyers of souls. I thought the language reflected the archetypal darkness of the post. I’m curious about the whole topic of the different ways we think about society, especially from a mtyhogenic perspective. I snapshotted your suggestions and may refer back to them as I’m examining the ideas of Mill further. Thank you
The cancel god has been here since time immemorial. He goes by many names. In times where he is weak he operates covertly, through lies & deceit. When he is powerful he is brutally authoritarian and vicious. The last time he was this powerful, it left such a stain on humanity, they gave it a name...the dark age.

Rose Keller Yes, is upon us since a long time, clouding our minds. I think the big change will be when we knows from inside, and not depending from external systems.
The Cancel God is great. It creatively depicts one very dark and suicidal point of our culture. The part about his adepts projecting their shadow on others in the hope to make that shadow, their shadow disappears is great too. It depicts simply and profoundly what this cult is about. Every human can received that shadow. It’s not theirs. When it’s being seen in someone he has to be cancelled. He tripped upon the shadow of somebody else. Therefore he appears evil to that somebody and has to be cancelled. This leaves every human with the option of hiding like some figures in the pictures does by seeing nothing, hearing nothing and saying nothing. The other way out, it to become an adept of that god. You’d better be a ferocious one, able to find anybody to cancel. If you find nobody, you’re not a good enough adept. You’re therefore to be canceled. In the end we have NPC competing against each other about being more virtuous than the next of him. The last attitude is, in a sense, suicidal. You stand up, think by yourself, speak for yourself, love, have fun and so on. In two words, be human in the meaning of it I love. You’ll be canceled. If you find a way to survive it, you’ll get into other canceled people. You’ll be on your own with them. It’s quite a change. I wonder if it’s worth the risk and wonder about wondering but in the end, it’s a way out of this nightmare.

> “Cancel God wants to cancel Humanity” That’s very true. The hate is disguised in noble-calling, it wants the sacrifice of Human blood and soul, and it never satisfies. I am a first generation Chinese immigrant to North America. I am deeply concerned about this cancel culture. It reminds me “Cultural Revolution” in China and those decades leading to that. We Chinese never recovered from that, and we need a redemption. Once it’s set to motion, it seems inevitable. But you have a chance to stop it before it owns you. Only God could defeat gods. Pray for you.
How do I get a hold of these guys I am an artist and I'm very interested in this concept I think this is an interesting way to reach people who don't understand what's happening.. I cancel God is among us!
Really interesting project. Fantastic to see you employing an artistic take on deification of nihilism. From my perspective as a painter, I am already hearing tales of cancellation from other artists. I'll have to give Lubomir Arsov's challenge to other artists to interpret this.........
The problem is by visualising it this way and elevating it to an extreme by saying "it wants to cancel everything and everyone" you are distancing it from what is actually happening and that means the people engaging in this activity can disregard it as being nothing to do with what they are doing.
Right! Cancel culture can definitely be taken too far, but it does serve an essential purpose (albeit a bit messily); it gives a voice to the masses against those in power. The white supremacists and the corrupt capitalists that rule our society are somewhat kept in check by cancel culture, and I do think wokeness has pushed us toward a somewhat more tolerant culture, thus it has a freeing effect (the opposite of what is depicted here) for the marginalized and the oppressed. I do think that cancel culture should have a more redemptive quality, but to cancel the cancel culture entirely is to allow those with toxic and dangerous opinions to have a platform, and that platform of hate crowds out the platforms of love. I think that this force of destruction depicted in the video isn’t cancel culture, it’s social media. It’s the algorithm that pushes content which enrages and disgusts the audience to enhance engagement and profit. It drains our emotional capacity so that we have nothing left to fight the true fight.
I’m really rolling my eyes. These kids come with something new every day. “Cancel culture” didn’t Chrissie Tiegan start this and now where is she: cancelled as well. Love to all.

This is really interesting. I am a Christian, and also open to understanding things that will improve my walk with God. I believe what you are referring to stems from the Post Modernists and far left that claim the nuclear family isn’t necessarily, masculinity is toxic, and every aspect of faith is unnecessary and dangerous. This nihilism is very seriously pathological. I think a lot of this is enhanced today because of the millennial generations and the lacking of father figures, lack of not being shown important ethical standards that used to be the norm. Even if you put Christianity aside for a moment, it has become widespread led by the new atheists that we can use science alone and rationale to guide ourselves forward. This is very dangerous. We need the metaphysical now more than ever. I’m curious if you guys got inspired from Jordan Peterson and his biblical series and other critics of the post modern and far left ideas? It’s a great series that helps qualify your argument here very well. What inspired you to make this video? I realize you may not be Christian in your approach, and maybe it’s just a political or personal stance, but I’m curious to know a little more. Thank you.
I think its about having multiple choices, when i find something to do i try to find more meanings to it. I try to repair a bike, and learn as much as possible, but to possibly teach it in the future to others. If think about water moving via steam pipes from the sea inside the land to solve supply issues. When there is a global conscious it will pick my ideas up and do it.
I love the imagery. I was hoping it was an actual sculpture that could be viewed in a museum space to human scale (with the humans that are being cancelled at actual human size) and the Cancel God and attached creatures hovering above them. The only changes I would then imagine would be to have the hole in the chest (and the creature mouths) be black and emitting black light so that the humans below would be irradiated/exposed/shamed for their alleged "sins" by the black light. The white light in this image looks holy but the black light effects would capture the actual unholy tenor of the "holier than thou" cancel movement.
This is incredible. Putting a face on this faceless monster, and doing so with nuance and passion, brings me joy. My suggestion would be to do an opposite feature, showing the goddess of knowledge and dialogue.

I'm looking forward to the expansion on this. Just finished reading the high existence piece and came across the 'Vampire Castle' reference from 2013 which was very eerie. Would love to see discussion that includes Heying and Weinstein considering that they're on the same topic, comparing this cultural phenomenon to a Ponzi scheme. I think an important intersection occurs and summary can be derived from their (Heying and Weinstein) discussion, Jordan Hall's Blue Church/Red religion, Limburg's Cancel God, Fisher's Vampire Castle and what Nayna, Lindsay, Pluckrose and Boghossian have been up to the past few years. Looking forward to seeing what sense you can make of all of this!

Sounds like Weitiko or Windigo from many indigenous North American cultures. The idea of a insatiable, skeletal spirit that compulsively seeks, consumes (and therefore destroys) everything in its path and is never satisfied, never full. Representations of the Windigo also have a hollow belly or torso. The Windigo is often invoked to describe the forces of narrow profit-driven capitalist society, culture and enterprise. Which is of course the larger context in which this idea of "cancel culture" has arisen. So this so-called Cancel God and cancel culture look to me like fractals of the larger and much older idea of the destructive and isolating nature of eternal want, growth and consumption that we've erroneously built rather deeply into our modern societies.
Part 1/2 The problem of their imminent as opposed to transcendent God, is first they love their offices but their offices are all "in" the community. The justifiable fear of a transcendent God is warranted but without it, there is no one there. no one answerable to anyone, no one responsible, this means our questioning has no address to send it to. everything just is and we just push each other around and around without any claim to legitimacy or the ought. even rights have no power without an apex. and no justification and condition of agreement and consent without a focal point. the loss of this addressee(?) means the Euphro dilemma has lost its condition of possibility. Then the distinction of just and good law from de facto positive law collapses. in a sense the left and the right agree in an anti transcendental politics. and it all becomes a sub-natural theology of self interest. everything by degree. in fact this is how i diagnose the problems in America too much of a focus on law and legal institutions and a political structure without the recognition of legitimate authority. the politics is internecine all the way down and all the way up. intra-institutional conflict of the parts of government and the state and the commonwealth. i

Nice 👍🏻
Sick art and the description by the artists just unveils how deep it truly is.

Best idea in a long time!
Can the entire shortfilm be watched anywhere?

I’ve been reading John Stuart Mill after being cancelled in online forums and being attacked and trolled for weeks:
“Reflecting persons perceived that when society is itself the tyrant - society collectively over the separate individuals who compose it - its means of tyrannizing are not restricted to the acts which it may do at the hands of its political functionaries. Society can and does execute tie own mandates... ... it practices social tyranny more formidable than many kinds of political oppression... penetrating more deeply into the details of life and enslaving the Soul itself.” (From On Liberty, ch 1)
I actually think that this archetype, this goddess of control and dominance is the archetypal feminine animus of the collective unconscious...
Curious what you are referring to? Curious in a good way...
Thank you

tell me you dont understand cancel culture without telling me you dont understand cancel culture.
The image is terrific. Perfectly dreadful.
Is it just me or is the one speaker's mic peaking? Anyways, cool story, hansel

That’s very true. The hate is disguised in noble-calling, it wants the sacrifice of Human blood and soul, and it never satisfies. I am a first generation Chinese immigrant to North America. I am deeply concerned about this cancel culture.

Wacky
Where"s the movie?

Thank you.
Is there a video that's just the mythological story with the visuals, sans commentary?

Brilliant!
Cancel culture is a modern version of damnatio memoriae.

Part 1/2
The problem of their imminent as opposed to transcendent God, is first they love their offices but their offices are all "in" the community.

We should be more afraid of not protecting our sovereignty instead of being afraid of losing our jobs. If we lose our sovereignty, we lose everything.
I experienced this yesterday. A person was saying "those people should burn for their racism" -- I said that was probably not the most productive way to handle this, perhaps there is a better and peaceful loving way to fix this issue....
I was told to go somewhere else with my passive bullshit ideas
I'm wondering if I can turn this into a D&D god. Or build a cleric that worships the cancel god.
I am the paladin of Cancel!
IN-Shadow is my favorite method to demonstrate what is really going on in the world.
"Dissonance cannot atune to an ordered state of geometric resonance." BOOM.
The cancel god is insatiable. Well said.
