This is great to know. I received a baby pink princess (for $15), and it was limp and had leaves falling off. The company sent me a replacement, but I’m hoping to save the original plant as well!
These plants are pretty forgiving if my experience is any indication of how well they do. Cut up a ppp earlier this year and stuck the pieces in water. No care was given, added water once in a while, a few times they dried out. Planted them in soil last week and all seem to be doing fine. They seem to thrive on neglect.
I mean ppp pups are not super variegated… I purchased my ppp for $35 it’s pretty good sized and has four pups in the pot. The mamma plant is beautiful with strong variegation even had a beautiful full pink leaf, all four of the pups had little to no variegation. I’ve now had the plant for a few months now, mamma and the pups have continued to grow beautifully, she has continued to put out leaves with fantastic variegation, and the pups are starting to put out leaves with more pink variegation. Moral of my story, if you do purchase a ppp pup that’s not incredibly variegated, you just need to let it grow and mature. ☺️
Bought a pink princess philodendron about a year ago and just noticed the leaves are changing to a yellow brown and orange...whoops the orange leaf just fell off on its own. I am going to follow your lead from your video and pray my ppp will survive. Thank you Carly, for making this video. I am wondering what your ppp looks like today? Bet it's BEAUTIFUL!
They should not be watered very much, very similar to a ZZ plant. PPP preferably likes to stay dry. I paid $19.00 for mine, and I also purchased the Monstera Albo. Total for both was $52 and some change. Glad it worked out for you
How is your pink princess now, a year plus later? I just got one Friday, two days later the half pink leaf is looking weak, may be starting to turn brown.
I’ve recently purchased a pink princess and had the same experience I had to cut it down to the node only and have it in water hoping it grows a couple more roots. Hopefully I can get it to grow like yours 🙏🏻
You video gives me hope. My baby pup was given to my by a plant friend. And I tried in moss first, but it has no roots at all. So it is not supporting all the new leaves the plant is putting out. The bigger leaves have fallen and the two smallest leaves are trying to unfurl... but the root system isn’t there to support it... I hope it doesn’t rot....so I put it in water and now I’m waiting. It’s been 3 weeks since she plucked it from her mother plant. So I’m waiting.... how long did the whole process of growing those water roots take?
Mine has good leaves but its very tipsy. I've repotted once a week or two ago with regular soil. Would it be a good or bad idea to repot again into tropical or orchid type soil?
I am so happy for you! I hope this plant is big and beautiful now 2 years later.

Love this❤
Thanks… very good information. When she improved, did you still keep her in moss??

I love that you could saved her 😍🥰
I am glad I didn’t start getting into plants until after the big craze hit. I found a healthy, 6 inch PPP at Walmart today for $19.99 😅

Very cool! I’m glad you were able to salvage it. Shame on the person who sold it to you while it was dying.
