There was absolutely nothing wrong with this movie aside the creation of galvatron, I loved all of the movies, but this one is the best of the 4, and another one to come soon after, this movie was fucking awesome!! It's a Hell of a lot better than Shia screaming and crying for bumblebee and his stupid girlfriend in the way. Soooo go Marky Mark! But this is pretty normal they give us a better movie but here comes all the crybabies because it's not what they wanted. If you want a "better" transformers movie go fucking make one yourself instead of bashing the one someone was generous and thoughtful enough to give to fans (old and new )of transformers.
Me personally, I agree. While Transformers 4 isn't the best Transformers film by any stretch of the imagination, it is at least an improvement compared to the first 3 films.
I actually didn't mind the movie I could've gone without some of the human scenes but everything with the transformers in it was good not great but good found it more enjoyable than the last 2. The first was the best in the franchise in my opinion
I was sitting in the theater arms crossed, almost annoyed to the point where I didn't care about what the big action scene was gonna be, I just wanted it to end. And then Optimus got on Grimlock's back and yelled ROLLOUT and I was all in.
The fact that this movie has a lower rating in rottentomatoes than Shyamalan's 'The Happening' is alarming for me. It's frikking robots battling robots for crying out loud! How can they always mess this up?!?!?!
Ok I am the biggest mark wahlberg fan there is....I practicality worship the man. I came into this movie at a matinee (thankfully) expecteding an ok netflix watch on a lazy sunday after noon. I did not realize that I was in for the best 30 minutes of a transfomer movie ever....follwed by a 2 1/2 hour commercial. Holy shit johnny boy how in gods fucking name did you not mention the shamless product placement.
My screening had no laughs, it was dead. At the part where Mark Wahlberg calls the boyfriend character "lucky charms" a woman in the audience let out an audible "UGH!" and that made me laugh my ass off.
I think ur the only UA-camr or critic that reviewed this movie without just hating for no reason amd i respect that, though i loved this movie and 2 first
Please restore my faith in humanity. Everyone don't go and see this in the theater... have it be the least successful in the Transformer franchise and maybe just maybe the studio will drop Bay for a fresher perspective and we can finally get a good Transformers film.
Honestly, I felt the movie was unnecessary. I mean The best part of the movie was the dino bots. I realy enjoyed them kicking ass.... But thats it. lol
The pre-transformers movies by Micheal Bay are great in my Opinion. I like The Rock and Armageddon. I've been wondering since the first Micheal Bay Transformers Movie came out, if he could have been a better director for the first live action G.I.Joe Movie. In my opinion, he might have made a good job with that, because he's great with war movies staring humans. :D Cheers!
Your intro is brilliant John, I already knew about it because you teased it on Facebook. I liked this, none of these movies are great and the second one is the only I dislike. I like Mark Wahlberg as well, he's better than Shia Labeouf.
Best and worst Bay movies?? might as well rank all of them 1) Armageddon 2) Bad Boys 1 3) Bad Boys 2 4) Transformers 1 5) The Rock (overrated) 6) Trans4mers 7) The Island 8) Transformers 2 9) Pearl Harbor 10) Pain & Gain
I liked it sure it had the usual stuff we've come to expect but the human characters seemed to work better than the first three and the whole thing with the Autobots being pissed at the human race was great like I genuinely felt sad at the beginning. Prime before he was fixed was great and the bond he had with cade worked. I'll give some of it was crap at points and I got annoyed with the yelling and some of the bad effects. But gezz the movie was the best one since the first one... it also pissed me off how it leads us to a sequel sure two more are announced and well get those no doubt but each one needs to feel like the last even if its not. I'm going to give it a B+ annoying: yes, fun: yes, long: yes, but to me the daughter feeling like the adult, her boyfriend trying to compete and measures up to her dad, and the dad just doing what's right for his little girl and trying to help prime are what made this movie work in my opinion. Also the fact we get more time to get to know the Autobots was great. Oh yeah the voice of Galvatron actually being right. Its a good time and I liked it.
I agree with everythng u said, the movie actually wasn't horrible to me and it wasn't bad either, I did like the bond between Cade and Optimus and I liked that Optimus wasn't the wise person of the film he had a little humanity to him, and anger which I loved.
I remember seeing Revenge of the Fallen in the theater and when the fight scene between Optimus and Megatron came on it was zoomed in so much, all you could see was a swirling blur of metal couldn't see WTF was going on.
What is the deal with people liking Michael Bay's "The Rock"?! That film was fucking horrible, clichéd schlock from beginning to end and aside from Ed Harris's very sympathetic portrayal of the villain I don't see anything to like about that film. Even Sean Connery phoned that one in while Nicholas Cage just yelled and spazzed his way through the film like he's done in virtually every other movie he's been in. Maybe someone can fill me in on why everyone loves it?
the bolt Best list ever !!!!, but for real, I'm not a fan of The Island (unoriginal and boring) and Armageddon is a guilty pleasure of mine 'cause I love Bruce Willis and Affleck, but it's just too long for rewatchability. Just my opinion but great list nonetheless.
I feel like there are moments where the movie could have been better, but I actually enjoyed the movie. I feel that the main issue with these movies is that they kind of twist the plot in a way where you are not quite sure where they are going with it but looking back on it, I get what was going on. I also feel that the way they made the transformers was a better idea. In this movie I could understand what was going on in the fight scenes. In the other three, the Autobots and Decepticons looked so similar that I couldn't tell who was winning. Probably the best thing about this movie was Mark Wahlberg. So though it wasn't amazing, I feel that Michael Bay is starting to get an idea of what we want to see. So I feel this movie should have gotten a higher grade. Maybe a C+ or a B-.
the truth is for you critics you never know if your going to hate it or like it if you haven't seen it or if you haven't tried it so if you really want to test your I hate it or like it scenarios AT LEAST WATCH IT sometimes a movie that you think your going to hate you may actually change your mind once you see it once or twice in a row or something of that nature for me I actually saw it, I was on cloud nine I loved it so much that I want to see it again with my friends and over and over when it comes out on dvd so PROVE ME WRONG
I give this movie a B+ just because it was a little to long.. but optimus prime going on a rampage about the humans betraying him was the best part!!!!
wow the 4th was actually good and so was the the third did you even look at the screen sure this one didn't have as much action as the third and it can a little bit get cheesy with the robots but it can get really cool
The movie was very enjoyable, it's a great summer movie, just go and have fun people, these critics put to much into these movies that is just suppose to be ENTERTAINING!!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a bad film, bro. Yes, I agree that T4 is MUCH worse, but it's not the difference of night and day. It's the difference of a C- to a D- Keeping it real, dude...
I just saw it and it is by far the most "watchable" of the four movies. If just by the fact that Shia LaBeouf and company are not present in the movie made it an improvement. Also, the amount of comic relief was dramatically cut down. However, the movie is way too long and has so much plot crammed into it (which being a Michael Bay film is unusual. Plot? What?!). Seriously, this movie could have been split into two movies with the amount of plot points shoved in it. You have the plot with Mark Wahlberg and his family, CIA agents hunting Transformers with Lockdown, a corporation reverse-engineering Transformer tech into weapons, Galvatron being created, the space seed plot device, and finally the Dinobots (in the last half hour).
I just got back from watching this and I can honestly say that I enjoyed it. It has its ups and downs but this would be a good movie to shovel popcorn down your gullet on a rainy down.
A C? I was expecting a D. Sometimes I question your ratings....actually do you have a checklist that use to determine what you'll rate a movie or do you just say a random? Anyways I fucking called it! I knew it'd be the same bullshit which is why I'm scared for the TMNT movie. I'm like the TMNT, though I'm not a hardcore fan so if the movie does bomb, I wouldn't be extremely pissed off. It'd still ruin my childhood because I grew up watching TMNT, just not as often as a lot of other fans. Anyways if Bay does shit on the turtles I won't be mad, I'll just be disappointed. At both Michael for making the shitty movie and myself for seeing it. BUT I'm still hoping that he'll make the right decision and not dump on the movie, I would say that it might be good because of the trailers but he does that all the time with the Transformers movies and look what happened to those. :P
ttandc not really the only thing bay would be in charge of is paying for the movie. getting actors but wont do camera work. producer can get a say but in the end the director has the last word
I found this movie pretty entertaining even though it was long it was still enjoyable to me. I mean it was defiantly a positive considering the second and third one. I mean this one wasn't that bad in my opinion
This movie was extremely poor... They didn't have any of the popular transformers outside of Bee and Optimus... And they even managed to muck up Optimus's look... There were no real decepticons they were all man made WTF!?!? Seriously??? And if your familiar with the ORIGINAL story line of the old school original cartoon, then you would def hate this movie...
I really liked the 4th film, I was actually really happy though that they went with Mark Wahlberg as the main human character because I totally agree with you Shia's character was getting annoying and just plain dull. I mean what I truly love about this 4th Transformers film is that they gave the human character a meaning to keep on fighting, and I also felt like I was watching a remake to one of the animated series's by watching this film why do I say that. Well I'll tell you...You had human scientists working creating technology but mainly replicas of the transformers with Megatron's head. Now in one of the animated series there was a scientist who was working with Megatron and the scientist was working on creating a new body for Megatron. So did Micheal Bay steal that piece from an animated series yes but it fit in the story very well. And also this film was very necessary because each film of the Transformers movies has a story to keep it going, and leaves it to more possibilities, do we want those possibilities coming from Micheal Bay...Probably not but I'm sure we all can agree that these films need a new director. But don't get me wrong I still loved the film, and I loved the Dinobots in the film especially Grimlock!
C? isnt that passing? Ever Bay film is an epic FAIL. I just want them to fire Bay and make the live action verison of Beast Wars, now that would be Epic.
"They're picking up metal...and dropping it back on the ground!" This movie could have ended half an hour before it did, but they had to have a bunch of scenes set in China to appeal to the Chinese market.
This one was my favorite one. It gave the characters emotion and depth. I love Mark Wahlberg's character...you could really see he was down on his luck and sad...he really wanted to be a good father to his daughter.
One thing I can never understand is why Micheal Bay starting from the second film onward made Megatron a secondary villain when hes suppose to be the main bad guy leader, In ROTF The Fallen took the front seat as main villain then in DOTM it was Sentinel Prime now in AOE it was Lockdown.... I dunno why he does that, but judging on the ending of this new film maybe finally will see a whole film where Megatron (Well I guess now Galvatron) will be the main villain
Great review! I've never really been into Michael Bay films and this review wont convince me to give Transformers 4 a chance :) Having said that, I really liked The Rock, but these days when it comes to Bay, its all about loud explosions.
Ok look I know Transformers is a part of alot of people's childhood but I HATE IT SO MUCH when they hate on Michael Bay And These Movies. When you're going Into the movie you know what you're Gonna get because It's another Michael Bay Transformers film so you know you're most likely gonna get Cheesy Dialogue, Alot Of Explosions, Awesome Action Scenes, Awesome Special And Sound Effects, And An Amazing IMAX 3D Experience. These Movies Aren't Supposed To Be Like Amazing Really Good Movies They Are Supposed To Entertain You And That's What They Do. I Honestly Love All Of These Movies And Age Of Extinction Was Actually My Favorite One. I Hate That Michael Bay Gets So Much Hate Because What He Is Doing Is Perfect For These Types Of Movies. THESE ARE NOT SUPPOSED OSCAR WORTHY OR JUST SUPER GOOD MOVIES THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BADASS ENTERTAINING SUMMER ACTION MOVIES AND THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES THEM GOOD.
+mitchel garcia I don't agree with awesome action scenes. In fact i really hate them. And i am 15 so i didn't grow up with the TV show. And i still hate the movies. I respect your opinion. Don't think i'm hating on you.
Terrible movie and terrible franchise! I don´t even know why it exists. Same with Fast and Furious. Just terrible, with no plot and where B List or terrible actors get some shine (talking about F&F).
The advertisements in this movie were literally in your face.
Especially if your first view of the film was in mediocre 3D.
No, they were no literally in your face. If they were literally in your face, your head would probably implode.
Patrick Bateman Maybe he saw it in crappy 3D, like I did?
Great review John! Glad you didn't bash this like everyone else
I dont get you people and the critics.. the movie was AWESOME! and The Amazing Spiderman 2 movie was good too! i dont get why people say it sucks..
Well spoken
you like that movie wowwwwwww....you must be a morron
Glad someone stood up for Michael Bay. The guy knows how to make good movies.
Scott Behnke God I hope that was sarcasm.
only black guys and teen like BAY movie
In regards to fans' criticism, M. Bay's stands by his words, "Let them hate."
God that Mark Wahlberg impression never gets old.
The first was the best in the franchise in my opinion
the 2nd was a turd
The movie was decent to me, bt it dragged at times. Coulda been so much better
TheAwfulOne for me, this one, the first one and dark of the moon are the good ones. Revenge of the fallen was mediocre and the last knight was ass
The Dark of the Moon is my favorite
The only good bay movie is the rock.
I really love The Rock. What did u think of The Island? In my opinion it was another decent Bay movie.
I didn't like it.
rybrentmannftw Armageddon
I didn't like it either.
rybrentmannftw You're wack! That had great storyline, acting, and dialogue
I was sitting in the theater arms crossed, almost annoyed to the point where I didn't care about what the big action scene was gonna be, I just wanted it to end. And then Optimus got on Grimlock's back and yelled ROLLOUT and I was all in.
Every time this movie came up, that Wahlberg impression is all I think about
The first 30 seconds of this video was better than the movie ha! 😏
The fact that this movie has a lower rating in rottentomatoes than Shyamalan's 'The Happening' is alarming for me. It's frikking robots battling robots for crying out loud! How can they always mess this up?!?!?!
Ok guys, who do YOU think should direct transformers movies?
Justin Lin. He did great with Star Trek Beyond.
Michael Bay is 49 I think. But anyways loved your Mark impression
Best Michael Bay movie and best Transformers movie: Transformers 3
Worst Michael Bay movie: Ouija
I agree tf 3is the best
I actually enjoyed this Transformers movie. Didn't mind the long time either. I might be crazy.
My screening had no laughs, it was dead. At the part where Mark Wahlberg calls the boyfriend character "lucky charms" a woman in the audience let out an audible "UGH!" and that made me laugh my ass off.
I disliked a lot about this movie but one thing I cannot fault it on is the cars. I made a mess when they first introduced Stinger as a Pagani Huayra
I think ur the only UA-camr or critic that reviewed this movie without just hating for no reason amd i respect that, though i loved this movie and 2 first
I personally like this movie
Please restore my faith in humanity. Everyone don't go and see this in the theater... have it be the least successful in the Transformer franchise and maybe just maybe the studio will drop Bay for a fresher perspective and we can finally get a good Transformers film.
I've gotta say... the start of it, the woman trying to sell the property, that was funny.
[Solo]
Best: Pain & Gain
Worst: Revenge of the Fallen
lol. he said the dinobot is "gridlock"....???
for those who didn't know its "grimlock".
Honestly, I felt the movie was unnecessary. I mean The best part of the movie was the dino bots. I realy enjoyed them kicking ass.... But thats it. lol
Me called GRIMLOCK, not GRIDLOCK!
If he puts this in his worst movie ever list then he's joking. He gave it a C not D or F and then he bought the Blu ray
You called Grimlock Gridlock.
Favorite Michael Bay movie: none of them. Least favorite Michael Bay movie: all of them.

JOHN! I HAD TO KLICK 'LIKE' 20 SECONDS INTO THE VIDEO Hahahaha! I'm watching that again now.
Best and worst Bay movies?? might as well rank all of them
1) Armageddon
2) Bad Boys 1
3) Bad Boys 2
4) Transformers 1
5) The Rock (overrated)
6) Trans4mers
7) The Island
8) Transformers 2
9) Pearl Harbor
10) Pain & Gain

The movie wasn't that bad plus I had free tickets so I can't complain
I remember seeing Revenge of the Fallen in the theater and when the fight scene between Optimus and Megatron came on it was zoomed in so much, all you could see was a swirling blur of metal couldn't see WTF was going on.
What is the deal with people liking Michael Bay's "The Rock"?! When I saw that movie and I waited to see the credits, as I was waiting I heard these one kind saying Transformers was fake.
currently rewatching this review, very nostalgic brings back sooooo many memories
Favorite: Rock, Bad Boys, (half of) Bad Boys 2 and Pain & Gain
Least Favorite: The Island, Pearl Tampon, Tr2 & 3 and (half of) Bad Boys 2
the bolt That's all fine and dandy. I'd like to see yours though buddy.
TheVideoInvader Best : The island , Transformers , the Rock , Armageddon , Bad Boys 1+(part of 2)
Worst: Pearl Harbour , Pain and Gain !!!
the bolt Best list ever !!!!, but for real, I'm not a fan of The Island (unoriginal and boring) and Armageddon is a guilty pleasure of mine 'cause I love Bruce Willis and Affleck, but it's just too long for rewatchability. Just my opinion but great list nonetheless.
TheVideoInvader Yeah Armageddon is a guilty pleasure but there's a side of me that also freaking loves it but it doesn't feel like 2hrs and 30 mins !
So though it wasn't amazing, I feel that Michael Bay is starting to get an idea of what we want to see. So I feel this movie should have gotten a higher grade. Maybe a C+ or a B-.
He ended up buying the Blu ray and didn't give it a bad rating so he can't put it as a worse movie of 2014
C is a pretty bad rating and he also has batman and robin on blu-ray
CarEdy23 lmao i know!
the truth is for you critics you never know if your going to hate it or like it if you haven't seen it or if you haven't tried it so if you really want to test your I hate it or like it scenarios AT LEAST WATCH IT sometimes a movie that you think your going to hate you may actually change your mind once you see it once or twice in a row or something of that nature for me I actually saw it, I was on cloud nine I loved it so much that I want to see it again with my friends and over and over when it comes out on dvd so PROVE ME WRONG
Best intro ever XD! I'm dying! This is why I love TheFlickPick more than other reviewers!
28 Batman shirts?
I give this movie a B+ just because it was a little to long.. but optimus prime going on a rampage about the humans betraying him was the best part!!!!
Bad Boys, favorite movie from Michael Bay
The Island is my Favourite and TF 2 is my least favourite
Like bad boys 2. Just when you thought the movie was over......nope. one more hour. "and the shit just got real"........He needs a more skilled editor
Even with all the negative reviews, I still wanna see it.
Good attitude :)
I only care about the positive reviews
lets do a live Q&A John i need my flick fix
The last battle sequence reminded me Man of Steel (If you get what I mean)
wow the 4th was actually good and so was the the third did you even look at the screen sure this one didn't have as much action as the third and it can a little bit get cheesy with the robots but it can get really cool
No the seed is a nuke that could kill millions because of megatron
A C ? I would give it a D-
The movie was very enjoyable, it's a great summer movie, just go and have fun people, these critics put to much into these movies that is just suppose to be ENTERTAINING!!
Best review I've seen of this movie by far. Great job John!
So you give this movie a C, but the Amazing Spiderman 2 only a C+? Ohhhkaaay.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a bad film, bro. Yes, I agree that T4 is MUCH worse, but it's not the difference of night and day. It's the difference of a C- to a D-
Keeping it real, dude...
Darin Michael the amazing spider man 2 wasnt a bad film it just needed more work on the script.
Darin Michael How would you letter rank all the Bay Transformers movies?
Nicholas Bodo Transformers: B-
Revenge of the Fallen: D
Dark of the Moon: C+
Both movies were good
I'd give it a 8\10
I thought this was awesome but I do agree it was too too too long.
The third part had the same story said the extiction of human being and this time again
Plot? What?!). i'd say three films
I loved the first one.
Uhmm were is the link for that shirt??????
I'll give it a A- cause I saw it and it is watchable so watchable !!!!!!!
I just got back from watching this and I can honestly say that I enjoyed it. It has its ups and downs but this would be a good movie to shovel popcorn down your gullet on a rainy down.
the 1st one was the besst!!
I'd recommend watching RedLetterMedia's "Half in the Bag: The Transformers Series"
I really like John's Mark Wahlberg impression. Can't get enough of "Optimus, what are you doing here?"
A C? I was expecting a D. Sometimes I question your ratings....actually do you have a checklist that use to determine what you'll rate a movie or do you just say a random?
Anyways I fucking called it! I knew it'd be the same bullshit which is why I'm scared for the TMNT movie. Bay isn't directing it
Azurealms99 Only producing? YES IT HAS A CHANCE
StupidMarioBros1Fan Megan Fox is playing April. Oh dears.
StupidMarioBros1Fan Even a movie produced by Bay ( Like the new TMNT movie ) has that Bay stench on it
ttandc not really the only thing bay would be in charge of is paying for the movie. getting actors but wont do camera work. producer can get a say but in the end the director has the last word
I found this movie pretty entertaining even though it was long it was still enjoyable to me. I mean it was defiantly a positive considering the second and third one. I mean this one wasn't that bad in my opinion

Are u subscribed to the realhard8times?? He said the same thing
SPOILER ALERT..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................optimuskillsahuman
I really liked the 4th film, I was actually really happy though that they went with Mark Wahlberg as the main human character because I totally agree with you Shia's character was getting annoying and just plain dull. Green fork was a TF hand..same principle as green-screen backgrounds..such an oddball color that it doesn't bleed thru your FX
The movie was awesome.
C? isnt that passing? Ever Bay film is an epic FAIL. I just want them to fire Bay and make the live action verison of Beast Wars, now that would be Epic.
You didnt mention how Optimus took too much inspiration from Link D:
Fair review Mr. Johnny Rico! I thought it was good. I really did like Wahlberg in the lead. Yeah is was a little to long, but I still enjoyed it.
"They're picking up metal...and dropping it back on the ground!"
This movie could have ended half an hour before it did, but they had to have a bunch of scenes set in China to appeal to the Chinese market.
The best movie in the world!
i think it was AWESOME!!!!!!!! I dont have a good sense of movies
This one was my favorite one. It gave the characters emotion and depth. I love Mark Wahlberg's character...you could really see he was down on his luck and sad...he really wanted to be a good father to his daughter.
Eh, still gonna check it out. Plus relaxing in front of explosions is always welcome.
A 3 hour movie is a green light for me....short movies is boring and when it's getting good the movie ends....
I dunno why he does that, but judging on the ending of this new film maybe finally will see a whole film where Megatron (Well I guess now Galvatron) will be the main villain
explosions! HOT GIRLS! annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd AD's!
uhmm yeah, sums bay up pretty well
19 year old girls!! Wait.....WTF Michael Bay!? You fucked??
Pinnacle Film/Gaming WHats wrong with 19 year old girls?
Scott Behnke
Nothing's wrong with it, it's just creepy that Michael Bay is nearly 50 years old (49 I think)
I doubt Michael Bay had sex with her dude. Hot girls sell
Thanks for reaffirming my belief that I should never watch this movie (by never, I mean I'll wait until it's free on Netflix).
What was the pink handed creator that killed the dinosaurs? Was it Krang?
WTF Who's GRIDLOCK! LOL!
Great review! I've never really been into Michael Bay films and this review wont convince me to give Transformers 4 a chance :) Having said that, I really liked The Rock, but these days when it comes to Bay, its all about loud explosions.
In all honesty I watched this movie for lockdown. That guy was freaking amazing. Can we get a movie about lockdown and his travels in space please?
That Captain America T Shirt Rocks!!!
Looking forward to this video! 😊
That Mark Wahlberg impersonation was spot on.
We need more people like you
+mitchel garcia I don't agree with awesome action scenes.
So Jonathan, where did you get those figure?
