I am new to the painting miniatures thing and I like the concept of a slap chop or zenithal priming techniques, but I feel that the full black undercoat makes the whole miniature too dark and grimy. Have you tried starting with a more mid grey base and then lighter grey midtone and finally white highlight? I feel it maygive the benefits of the 3D shading but not interfere with the colours as much. I would really like to here your thought, thanks, Garry. p.s. I love the green skinned boyz as well!
It can't be just me that sees burnt moss as red, the pastel seafoam as dead on easter shirts, and there was one that looks like the green that shows up on halloween decor styrafoam? Right?

My usual ork skin recipe is black undercoat, overbrush with Dark Angels green, and depending on the unit, drybrush with goblin green.

That Burnt Moss looks like a great verdigris colour.
Might have to get a bottle for my bronze age Oathmark skeletons.
Ochre Clay is my go to color for orcs.

I’ve done a bunch of Ork Boyz in Ghillie Dew, but I may try some in Malignant Green; I like that yellow-green look.
Ghillie Dew, Camo Cloak, Desolate Brown, Brownish Decay, Ochre Clay and Gunner Cammo.
Those colours are absolute bonkers for Orks in my opinion.

I don't mean for this to sound rude, but you might want to take a colour-blindness test because the Burnt Moss was a desaturated bluegreen-grey.
