I like thr longer vids as i usually put these on when im building and or paiting. Gives me more content to listen to and i dont have to stop and find a new vid as often. So for me its a vote for longer/more detailed content!
Finally found a video with someone giving the detail on the paint he is using !!! Was wondering what could be done with speedpaint and what could be done with base. I have my answer, thank you so much!
Hi Hobbiyist, I prefer these videos where its more detailed and you show all your paints/steps. I think it makes the video more interesting especially for other people getting into painting.
I REALLY appreciate seeing Every Step. I watched a lot of vids in the past and then when I went to try myself there must have been some step not mentioned, as my results were terrible. this is so helpful , thank you!
Thank you, I have been watching so many different vids about slap chop and this is by far the best I have seen. straight forward with great easy to understand steps.. THANK YOU
Thank you for this - I am getting back into painting and this method is a game changer for me. I don't have a ton of time and I am very much a beginner so this is perfect
Pro tip for faster results. Prime the mini with a saturated dark color and then dry brush over a desaturated light color a couple steps removed on the color wheel. So base coat purple, dry brush grey, then dry brush a pastel orange or prime deep blue, dry brush grey, then dry brush a pastel yellowish green. Works wonders
While I can’t always spend 30 minutes, this was perfect for me. Combining a long video with your shorter ones, every so often, is extremely beneficial for us noobs.
your videos are delightful. I often find myself watching at least twice, the first time I'm usually busy and barely glance up...then the 2nd time I'm like crap, I actually wanted to see some of the painting! Your painting is right where I want to be.
I like the way you did this video showing the paint to use it helps to plan out my own painting scheme when I can see what they look like on the models you paint. And by all means waffle on.😊
I like the longer video. I can understand the process and paints better with them. My question is how do you setup the camera to film from first person view?
I was extremely skeptical on purchasing Speedpaints/contrast paints, after checking a lot of videos of people using them and showing their work I was still skeptical until I came across with this video and the gorgeous paint you made there. this was the top cherry of my cake to make the decision of absolutely purchase the Army Painters speedpaint 2.0
Thanks for the video! I tried slapchop and didn't like the result but after watching this, i have an idea about how I can get better at it. Love the waffling too btw :)
Just subbed. I love slap chopping as its the only way I have time to get stuff painted. I bought the complete speed paint 2.0 set after trying some citadel contrast and fell in love. Love this
Great video, gorgeous mini. Keep up the good work. Not all white paints are the same, might wanna look into that, maybe make a video about it. Although drybrushin will hide the differences quite a bit though
Short videos [under 10 minutes] - with every paint listed for the area in the description. Plus the size brush used for each step. I'm a noob. I liked and subbed. tfs!
This is beautiful , I ve found some difficulties here and there with speed paint purple swarm and blue getting some patchy unsmooth results but hopefully with some practice will improve I will love to watch more tutorials from you in this format
Im an old school Testors model enamel paints user myself, since childhood painting models. But Ive come to like the cheaper acrylic Apple Barrel paints myself along with some of the Americana paints also for other various colors. Along with some of the metallic flash colors from Americana or Folk Art, for the flash paint is like the chameleon color shift paint as it changes from purple, blue and green when you turn the model in different light.
To all who care, I use Vallejo Artist Inks with GREAT success! They come in glass bottles with glass droppers. A little goes a long way and I do a 1 to 1 ratio of ink to flow aid or water. Seriously though, a little goes along way! This is 1 or 2 drops of each. Can't beat the price in the end either!!!
You could reduce the paint wastage by using a lot less of it on the palette and using the scrubbing action to spread it over the bristles. It literally looks like you're putting more on the palette than the mini. AP fully acknowledge the the SP metallics only have a two layer effect instead of the three with the others; they continue to work on it.
very cool looking mini and great paint job, just looking at the head when you where painting the eyes I think there is a third eye on the forehead. at least that's how it looked to me.
22:41 I am not sure but I don't think this dude is reading Egyptian Hieroglyphics :P.... But could also very very very possible hahaha ASWESOME VID! Been getting back into painting and been watching your back catalogue. I love this format but also a live edit instead of voiceover edit. It feels more natural and we are there with you. Love ya work!!!
That’s looks really good considering you didn’t do that much ..Awesome job showing the slapchop way … I’m sold on it !! Keep doing your videos this way !!
Thanks for the video, I’m new to speed painting and slap chop technique and I’m watching your videos to get an inspiration and learn it. Even though it’s considered a simple technique, I struggle with getting a decent result. Maybe on videos it looks better than in reality? Did you use on that mini a speed paint medium?
I use a mix of citadel contrast and army painter speed paints. Citadel is great, but its a bit more heavy handed in color, so I thin 1:1 with contrast medium, and build up colors.
Love the positivity and the fact that you talk more about how it makes you feel rather than some super technical stuff. I also like how you don't aim it to be perfect but just fun. Sometimes I watch some super complicated videos and they just make me want to stop painting 'cause I'll never understand it on that level of perfection. You, on the other hand, are just more "Hey, let's have fun togheter, don't overthink it!". That's a great message for us "normal" painters. Thanks a lot! You make me want to paint more!
I've totally gotten into slapchop, as well.Just wondering, do you, or anyone else, have any advice on painting caucasian skintones? When you slapchop it, it always comes out too dark. Also, have you gone back to drybrushing gray and white? Last video, I think you said you just drybrushed white. Do you think it makes a big difference?
What they said, but also, just go back after your drybrush, before your paint, and put down a thin layer of white or a skin tone with regular acrylic paint.
I like your videos and I am new to the hobby, mainly for game pieces. The more info, the better. I need all the help and tips I can get, so all you do/discuss is appreciated...oh, and I love waffles 😂
One thing this mini immediately shows, it was made for painting. There are a lot of neatly done details yet it not covered with bells and whistles to a point when painting becomes a struggle.
My first time watching one of your videos and I rather enjoyed it. Slapchop really isn't for me, but I think its a wonderful way to get models painted and on the board or display case. I really enjoyed how your model came together and think he looks great!
Great video as always! I have a question, what can i do if my speed paints are removing the coat of highlights i made with the slapchop, do i need to let it dry longer or use more paint.Any recommendations on that?
Great vid man, I think people appreciate a longer step by step format like this one. Can I ask, where did you get your paint racks? I'd love to see a vid showcasing your hobby area!
I definitely want to get my hand on the speedpaints. But I'm worried what happens if I like them... Then I have a whole bunch of Vallejo paints that I'm going to have to try to sell
Do you use the paints straight out of the tube? Usually people advise to thin them down, but these look ready to go. Is this a feature of army painter speed paints or you do some out of the screen preparations. I'm a noob and try to collect as much info as possible before I start doing a mess 😅 Thank you for the great content!
Are you diluting your colours with water before you apply them or is it out of the pot? Like the green or the blue for the robe. They look watery and as i am starting to paint miniatures i would love to know.
Well done mate. Interested in hearing how you select your paint colours. That is probably the part I have the most trouble with. Do you consider colour theory or use a colour wheel?
Hey! Great tutorial, that inspired me to paint my boardgame collection. Quick question: did you dillute the paints or are they that translucent? My paints are on the way, so i'd like to use them properly
I personally like the longer videos because often times the shorter ones leave a lot out and I am like how the heck did they go from this to that or what in the world color did they use here or there.
I have bought Vallejo Express because I started watching your videos. I like the way they look, but I always end up adding a wash after it, because the colours are too vibrant. I suppose I will have to learn how to use other express paints to make the figure look darker. This said, I have not used slapchop, just prime in white. Thanks for the videos!
I always find your videos cathartic 😂. Seriously, I like the Slapchop style, your enthusiasm for the process and minis, and also to pick up inspiration for color usage. I typically do a zenith highlight with my airbrush primers for speed purposes, but on occasion I’ve done slapchop. Still can’t decide on a good skin color for my Orks though. Ghillie Dew or Malignant Green 🤔
Fantastic video as always, I think you have become my go-to channel for speedpaint inspiration above Watch it Paint it (mostly because you use slap chop and he doesn't, although I love his videos too!). You really seem to have mastered your slap chop drybrushing, the finish in this video is so smooth and neat! Also thank you for putting a shot of how it looks drybrushed grey before you show the white layer, it helps as a comparative guide. I noticed in a previous video of yours on tips for slap chop, that you suggest to thin the speedpaint with medium, but I don't seem to see you do that in any of your actual painting videos? Do you actually thin your speedpaints? I would love to see an episode dedicated to painting metals (but using regular slap chop, not metallic dry brushing like you already posted), including painting coloured metals (like a blue sci-fi rifle on a non-robot mini), as well as tips on making different effect on different metals (bronze, silver, copper, brass, rust, dirt, verdigris, etc...), and also showing which colours you use to highlight your metallics. Not a big list... 😁 Thanks for such great content, this video format is my favourite, and oh, the index of all the colours used is AWESOME!! 🤙🤙🤙
What if you made a wet pallet that snaps under your dry pallet? Also waiting to paint minis with "Testor's satin varnish spray" as reccomened by "Miniature Rescues to stop the paint from pee;ing when they fall on floors and get handled..
Im a huge fan of greenskins, and like you i didnt like the tedious process of painting until you show the slapchop. It makes the process so smoth and fun. Also i use vallejo and a few citadel ones. The downside is the lack of colors, they have few comparing to others, upside, they are half the price😂
Your videos are really chill and the waffling is part of it. I just put the videos on the other screen while doing something else. Helps me to think to have something on background and your videos are great for that. No need to cut them further in my opinion.
I like thr longer vids as i usually put these on when im building and or paiting. Gives me more content to listen to and i dont have to stop and find a new vid as often. So for me its a vote for longer/more detailed content!
Am I the only one that thinks that the primer alone made the miniature already awsome?
No you aren't. I'm going to stop right at that step when I paint my miniatures.
Longer versions please. Really helpful to a novice like me. Thanks.
Finally found a video with someone giving the detail on the paint he is using !!! Was wondering what could be done with speedpaint and what could be done with base. I have my answer, thank you so much!

Love the longer videos. Your waffle is great. It adds a level of the human connection that a lot of technical videos lack. Keep it going brother.
Thank you for this - I am getting back into painting and this method is a game changer for me. I don't have a ton of time and I am very much a beginner so this is perfect

@@wolf-xf6hf omg thank you I will absolutely try this
Love the Waffling it makes the video so easy and enjoyable to watch. Love all your videos, short or long. Keep it up
Great tutorial, love the long version where you show everything
While I can’t always spend 30 minutes, this was perfect for me.

Really love that you are showing your entire process
Loved this episode mate, I think you need to do more of these videos describing the process and the paints you use. More long episodes brother!
Great format and easy to understand
I love watching these long detailed videos keep up the good work 👍
Excellent work. I've not seen this method used at this scale before, and it still looks really good
This format is amazing
That came out really good. Well done!!!
I used Greenstuffs primers , they conveniently have a Black , Grey and White primers is 60Ml bottles. Great for slapchop
Great vid! As always. Army Painter was my first jump from craft paint with my mini painting. It really is a great paint.
I like the way you did this video showing the paint to use it helps to plan out my own painting scheme when I can see what they look like on the models you paint. And by all means waffle on.😊
First-time watcher. Please continue the long videos.
I like watching the painting.

very cool looking mini and great paint job, just looking at the head when you where painting the eyes I think there is a third eye on the forehead. at least that's how it looked to me.
Use a white paint to pick out the raised bits in the book he's holding and then a neon color - blue, green, etc - and I think it would be perfect :)
New mini painter myself, haha waffle love it, good video and humorous :)
I'll b trying my first slap chop on a Werewolf tonight cheers for the tips
i have both speed-paints and Green Stuff Worlds dipping inks, which i prefer for their quality and their amazing value for money !
22:41 I am not sure but I don't think this dude is reading Egyptian Hieroglyphics :P.... But could also very very very possible hahaha

Citadel is great, but its a bit more heavy handed in color, so I thin 1:1 with contrast medium, and build up colors.
Definitely try Vallejo Xpress Color. Dries very matte but the colors are excellent.

Try using warmer colours other than black and grey.
Dark brown prime, zandri dust and white would give a bit more saturation
What they said, but also, just go back after your drybrush, before your paint, and put down a thin layer of white or a skin tone with regular acrylic paint.
Great video! I enjoyed the video and the details, and even the waffle.
Have you painted any other board game miniatures?
Hi great video as always from you. Where did you get the super glue nozzle from? I just end up with it everywhere and stick my fingers together 😅
I like your videos and I am new to the hobby, mainly for game pieces. The more info, the better. I need all the help and tips I can get, so all you do/discuss is appreciated...oh, and I love waffles 😂

hi i dont have a 3d printer but love the handles you use to hold the minis do you sell them or know where they are available?
Where do you get those super glue extension nozzle from?
Love seeing all the steps 👍
Great vid man, I think people appreciate a longer step by step format like this one. Can I ask, where did you get your paint racks? I'd love to see a vid showcasing your hobby area!
Very chill video! What is the name of the song?
Not trying to be rude with this question. Why didn't you clean up the mould lines on the tentacles?
I definitely want to get my hand on the speedpaints. But I'm worried what happens if I like them... Then I have a whole bunch of Vallejo paints that I'm going to have to try to sell
Would love to know what colour you're using and if you are using the medium.
I set my notifications and it worked!
Can you do this technique without contrast or speed paint?

This is,a,really silly question, but do you use speedpaints steaight from the bottle? No thinning?
Hey! Great tutorial, that inspired me to paint my boardgame collection. Quick question: did you dillute the paints or are they that translucent? My paints are on the way, so i'd like to use them properly
Speedpaint or dipping from Green stuff are that translucent yes ~~
I personally like the longer videos because often times the shorter ones leave a lot out and I am like how the heck did they go from this to that or what in the world color did they use here or there.
What should I do if I don’t have speed paints? Can I just water down normal paint?

I suppose I will have to learn how to use other express paints to make the figure look darker. This said, I have not used slapchop, just prime in white. Thanks for the videos!
SlapChop will give you a similar finish to washing a full white model at the end, since both are about giving you darker recesses.
Just one question if anyone can help, do you have to spray black or can you just do standard white?
Really cool as always 👍
I always slap chop using the initial reactive Army Painter megaset. Reguarding the longer videos, the more the merrier👍
What brush do you use for the dry brushing?
Love the videos, are the army painter paints straight out of the bottle, or do you thin down…? Tia sorry for the newbie question
What brushes do you use with your AP speed Paints?
Do you then varnish to finish off mate?
I always find your videos cathartic 😂. Seriously, I like the Slapchop style, your enthusiasm for the process and minis, and also to pick up inspiration for color usage. New sbscriber, new painter. To me the waffle is information !
Is there any point of buying the 2.0 speed paints, or will the 1.0 paints do fine?
Someone else who says wibbly wobbly. Nice.
Timey Wimey?
I can't find a link to the company that does this miniature, you say in the video check the link below to get the miniature use the link below?
So every paint is first thinned with water before slapping it on?
Do you equal the amount like, 50 percent water, then 50 percent paint?
no, those are speed paints, not just diluted paints.
Definitely here for the waffle 😂😂but you have taught me alot too.👍🏻
I'm here for the waffle! Great tutorial, you're the best!
What if you made a wet pallet that snaps under your dry pallet? Also waiting to paint minis with "Testor's satin varnish spray" as reccomened by "Miniature Rescues to stop the paint from pee;ing when they fall on floors and get handled..

Do you seal the miniature once you have finished?
Your US Affiliate Link doesn't seem to work properly; Just loads to the front page of Amazon. Great video BTW!
The shading on this looked gorgeous, definitely going to try this technique
The drybrushing alone is just awesome already.
Im new to painting and my drybrush test didnt work out so far it always looks like shit 😂
use a larger brush for larger areas!
Your videos are really chill and the waffling is part of it. I just put the videos on the other screen while doing something else. Helps me to think to have something on background and your videos are great for that. No need to cut them further in my opinion.
Late to the party, but yes I like your long format.
