My Dad passed away this afternoon. He really enjoyed watching your vids; he did a fair bit of shouting at the screen! He was of the old school - a handful of spanners and a hammer. Keep the faith Mustie and thanks for all the entertainment my Dad and I had together over the last six months or so.
@@mustie1 thanks mate, I appreciate that. Keep doing what you're doing mate. I think there are a lot of Dads out there watching. God bless you all there and thanks again.
Sorry for your loss, My wife's dad passed last Nov at 91, after a short illness (not covid) lived a good life, still did his own yardwork and had a lot of Man toys
Man that hit me in the soul. I'm glad my parents are still alive though I know one day I will have face losing them. Especially my dad. He's had serious back issues for many years and lost his good job decades ago. He worked independently and finally earned enough to keep us out of losing the house and everything else. Now he has dementia and struggles to remember something he heard or saw seconds ago. Lots of regrets not spending time with him when I could. So most in my own crap. God bless you Mark. May you overcome the loss and still be happy. All my best.
Sorry for your loss, Mark. I still have my Dad...82 years old. In his younger days, he was very much like Mustie1, could fix nearly anything and had old parts squirreled away for everything. He passed a lot of those skills and traits on to me, thankfully. Anyhow, I'm glad you, your Dad and Mustie1 got some quality time together.

Thanks mustie1! It's always cool hanging out with you! Last Sunday you put me in the mood to test fire my spare snowblower engine. It's an old 7 horse Tecumseh that I grabbed from a free pile about 20 years ago. I checked it for spark, gave it a little drink of fuel and she fired right off. Have a great week and I will tune in Sunday.
yesterday i was watching an old mustie vid in the old shop. i commented how i missed the old shop and today here you are in the old shop and a bonus mid week video ...life is good
Had one when I was a kid, all steel. You added some sort of oil, and it puffed smoke. Loved that smell. Good memories with my dad that I'll never forget.
Our yard sales are more like wealth shifting. They keeping passing the junk around until it can't be sold any more and then leave it in a Goodwill collection box.
They leave it on the front lawn for Mustie where he picks it up for free, makes money from youtube showing us how it died. Finally it's harvested for parts and lives on as a moped, boat or yard art.
Your videos have definitely helped. Recently my neighbor asks "do you know a lawnmower guy?" Yeah, me. He says lawnmower stopped running last year. Ok, sure roll it over, we'll take a look-see. Carb and airbox just hangin there. The studs for the carb...gone. The bowl to the carb...gone. Tell the guy "you gotta find these missing pieces and I'll get it running for you." Check mfg site. Studs are not available seperately, only if you buy the cylinder head. Meh. Since the carb is not attached, I sprayed some ether in the cylinder. Nothin. Pull the plug. Almost 0 gap. I set it and test. Good spark. Try again. Fires right up for a second or two then dies. Didn't spray a lot of ether in there. Just enough. Now...if they could only find the missing pieces. It's a yard machine 21" w/ briggs 550ex 140cc engine. If you have the studs and other screws for carb/airbox. We could strike up a deal.

I always find that those "community" or "multi family" yard sales are the worst when trying to find a deal. But when pulling up to a house where they don't even have stuff setup, those can be awesome because usually those people will invite you into their garage and you can scan things that maybe they weren't going to sell, but for $50 will let you drag that upright drill press out.
Concerning the Columbia bikes. The factory only had 5-6 people welding/brazing forks. My aunt was one of them before they shut down. Did it for decades. My father put some time in there. Because my aunt got a discount, I was stuck with Columbias. Heavy, heavy bikes.
I have that $50 mower deal beat, scored a $15 22" self propelled craftsman mower last year that said "needs carburetor work" but it ended up just needing the spark plug cleaned off
Scoring a free machine on the side of the road right before Mustie gets there? Good. Having Mustie come along when you do? Better. Making him take it so you can watch a will it run? Priceless.
Sweet oil score mustie /i had the greatest score of my life yesterday !/got a champion 7800 watt heavy duty gen for 0.00$ /it was full of rotten terrible fuel the hr meter had 1 hour on it /so i mustied it over a couple hrs and boom 2 pulls runs like a champ /me sooo happy !!!!

I wish we had these in the UK, we used to have whats called (car boot sale) basically where you driver your car / van to a predetermined location and set up and you have hundreds and sometimes thousands of people set up, sadly most have now stopped ether because the councils that owned the land ether said "no you see health and safety" despite them running for 60 years or more without issue, or to the people that own the land selling it for land development, it just sucks as I used to have 8 car boot sales in my area where i could get all kinds of good stuff and now i have zero and i would need to travel 60 miles for the closest one >.
Yeah its a real shame, seems like most stuff just gets thrown in the dump, only place to get used tools is ebay and theyre usually the same price as new stuff
in my area, nobody opens their garage sales until 9am - usually if you arrive right at 9, they are just starting to set up, plus they always have the sales start on Thursday so if you have a 9-5 job you don't get a shot at anything until Saturday after all the good stuff is gone
I had an original Troy-bilt Pony. It had reverse and 3 forward speeds via multiple pullies. You could match the ground speed to the conditions while keeping the tines running at a set rate. As I remember, I sold it about a decade ago, it didn't have a 'throttle' so to speak. There were 'Start', "Stop", and "Run" settings and the governor did the rest. Nice to see the old shop again.

Yard sale-ing in Maine is serious business. Friday night spent mapping out the route. Lots of "NO EARLY BIRDS !" signs. I've seen lots of disputes but no bloodshed, yet.
If you really want deals starting out at 4 AM may be too late. I've hit the road earlier than that. There's a flea market I know a couple hundred miles away that can have some great stuff if I get there early enough. I usually leave two thirty in the morning if I'm going there. I like to get there before seven.
I love yard sales. They don't happen as much anymore. Could get all kinds of good stuff that are often times huge deals. Especially classic cars, vinyl albums and other great antiques.
Whilst I was watching this video, I swore you were in my neighborhood. I even asked my wife to watch it with me and she agreed. We're both trying to read the road signs every time you take a corner and even the names that we were able to read sounded familiar! 🙃 Please let us know where about you were hunting?
Always fun to go "Picking with Mustie". I've got a bunch of HO scale train stuff in storage as well. I need to break it out, pull out my favorite pieces, put them on display, and sell the rest.

"What's that? I don't know that that is." It's an expanding anchor for bolting stuff to concrete. Sometimes called a "confast."
Confast is a term often used to describe the yard sale industry
confast is the trademarked term for them
Those were AJ's Abercrombie Johnson's otherwise known as a Lead anchor. Can be used in cinder block walls if you use a "Hollow wall set".
I always, when I can, prefer to go into the mortar joint with a 1/4" plug and a #14 wood screw.

Ok I'm up for a bit of Mustie 😎. Cheers as always. (Edit) glad I watched to the end. That made the video for me. Love your work mate.
Great job fixing that up. What a great little tiller.
You do more drive bys in a day then a gangster does in a year
Too cool.. very satisfying material dude! Thanks
This video really messed me up, I was so damn sure it was Sunday when I saw that you had uploaded!
ditto... hadda check the calender.. wth..
Yard sale-ing in Maine is serious business. Friday night spent mapping out the route. Lots of "NO EARLY BIRDS !" signs. I've seen lots of disputes but no bloodshed, yet.
Near my house there is a guy with about 2 acres and he has tons of stuff all the time- his sign says "CRAP SALE"
Bet you what’s he classed as trash over there here in 🇬🇧 uk it’s someone’s treasure
Fun with mustie!😊 thanks for the ride along
*Despite the economic crisis it's still a good time to invest in Gold and Crypto.*
Stock are good but crypto is better
@@kathyscharles8268 Stock are good too
I wanted to trade Crypto but got confused by the fluctuations in price
That won't bother you if you trade with a professional like Expert Rico James
I heard his strategies are really good
rood trip rood trip thanks love it thanks
Hey Mustie...when is your garage sale????????
Never ever buy the stuff he sells and is not running. You would be in a huge pile of shit. 😂🤣😄
I think Mustie's would be a reversal. You take stuff to him and pay him (to fix it)!
Now that was 38 minutes well spent! Thanks Mustie.
The Barn sale off the dirt road could have been the intro to a Stephen King horror story.
Why is the light blinking on the dash?
Thanks for letting us ride along.
mid week mustie, noice
Nostalgie, the old workshop at home nice ☺👍👍😎
Bright and early in the morning? Yes it is 4:00 am over here!
early bird gets the mustie
Near the beginning, a street name or two is visible on his Garmin but he wised up and turned it sideways to maintain anonymity lol
It's no secret Mustie lives in the NE eh ? New Hampshire I think ?
Always fun to go "Picking with Mustie". I've got a bunch of HO scale train stuff in storage as well. I need to break it out, pull out my favorite pieces, put them on display, and sell the rest.
