I fucking love you man... My tone went through the roof with your videos. Thank you for taking the time to do them. I really hope your channel grows. 💪 Greetings from Chile ✌️🎸
My god if I found your channel like 2-3 years ago, I would not have to spend half a day today watching all of your instructional videos. Very informative!!!
Thanks for putting this together, literally had my AX8 delivered last week and been struggling to get that tight deathcore sound for the past few nights! Subscribed.
This is awesome, thank you so much. Ironically I sold my Axe FX a week ago to fund the new one, so I can't try it...but got half way there on my own (achieving a tighter tone) using the techniques you mention but have been struggling to figure out how to get rid of that honk you talk about at 5:00, so this video just nailed it for me, thanks so much! Can't wait to try it out. You're awesome man, keep up the great work!
Thanks a million mate. I've had an axe fx 2 for about 6 months. Thought had a grip on how it all worked. But your tutorials are making all the tweaking a hell of a lot easier. Hope your channel grows cause its top quality content you're putting out!
Leon Todd I generally stick with the FAS models. Manly because I feel they are much brighter and closer to an already mastered product. Never owned real gear so when I'm tweaking I'm always subconsciously comparing to mastered tracks. But as a big progressive metal fan. I generally stick to the mesa stuff.
Awesome as always Leon. Thanks so much man for helping out us newcomers to AX8!........ Just throwing it out there again, anything you can offer in the way of tips or IR's for a close as possible / tonematch for new Metallica Hardwired stuff would be sooo appreciated . Thanks again man!
Hey man, thank you so much for this video. I really appreciate how you break some of your methods down for noobs like me. Specifically, I found your explanation of the power supply sag extremely helpful. Thank you!!
Hey Leon - great stuff - I sometimes use the filter block to simulate a TS. Then I use the lo-cut in the filter block along with a peaking filter that boosts some mids. Works great as well :)
Thanks man for your video. Its cool, you are making a videos with comments about parameters in axe edit. It is really useful for understand it. Btw I like your style, ausie! :)
I cant thank you enough for making this video! I've had my AXE FX II since 2016... For recording Absolutely Loathed the rhythm sounds I got out of it... Until now , thank you. Cheers dude !!
Very nice vid !!! I looooove this one :) Low/high pass is the key to have an awesome "pre-mixed" and balanced sound for live. I experienced the bright cap parameters are the best and fast way to have an awesome tight sound and increase attacks and presence in a mix or live situation without increase the flubby/fuzzy awful effect. Just my opinion but this bright cap parameter is so much different between amp models, so much possibilities that I like the most on Fractal units
Ace dial in man. It's almost like the TS is the dirty old route and the AX dial in is the new standard. The Drive block just applies the filter like blanket you lose all of those upper mid harmonics to crappy pedal gain......but I get some people will dig that too. Boosting post the low resonance EQ is just a game changer. Well done
waowww. amazing metal preset tweakin on the net. thnx for the small alternative detail touchings. can you also make some metal artists presets as well. thnx
Really really loved your tone and setting Leon..... Please make a video like this on Line6 Helix aswell,, would be very very helpful, Love from India😊😊😊🎸🤟
Love your videos! Can you make one talking about how to tweak a tone for better palm mutes? Especially with the mesa mark series, I always end up with palm mutes sounding too weak and thin when I filter out some bass.
Leon ...that was awesome, Thanks mate. That solved my low end problem. Can you do a video on how to get a smooth lead tone, without fizz and but still with clarity...You know... Just right !!!. ( Mesa Mk 4) Thanks mate
For sure; it seems there's a few "must have tones" everyone is chasing and that's one of them. Tight metal, smooth lead, shimmer reverb, edge of breakup clean etc
I made all the tweaks in this video onto my smooth lead (that's why i love Petrucci) and it just made it so much cleaner...it took a huge leap. I actually sound like a better player...that's why we chase tone right
Thanks for your videos Leon! I am trying to get a good Incubus tone from the Rectifiers, any tips? Mike uses Tremoverbs again now so I am more going after a live tone here. I know the Rectoverb and Tremoverb are slightly different sounding than the Dual Recs but is it possible to cop those tones? Would Orange channel Modern be better?
He uses 2 Tremoverb 2x12 combos with two mesa 2x12 blonde recto cabs. From what I understand from youtube videos each amp is set clean and dirty and run in stereo (though all of his effects are mono). Each has slightly different eq settings.
Thanks for your great information!! What parameters I need to adjust in order to adjust a patch for an active to passive or passive to active pick up? Some times a got a great tone but I need to change from one guitar to other and I would like to keep the same tone. Thanks man
Leon Todd its truth but it feels when am playing with my band it doesnt matter the bass tone of the guitar wont cut, should i raise my volume like the bass player?

is this vide0, he explain who to tweak the tone to get more tight sound (Palm Mute)
Top notch video mate. Thank you!
Always happy to help where I can, glad you enjoyed it!
great vid! it's great that the Basic stuff you did is exactly what we'd do on a real amp. not sure if you mentioned it, but it's all the same!
That's why I love these units; it's just like the real thing in every way!
What pups you got in the guitar? (For reference) great video man!
Thank you thank you thank you!

Great video as always!
So I've finally bought one used. Dusty as hell though. Any suggestions how to clean this? Rag with a bit of water?
Can anyone tell me what daw he is he using. I think he is using the AX8, but what is the other vst is he using that is below the AX8.

Interesting; any ideas what cabs/mics he uses live? The orange channel with different drives in front could be the way to go.
He uses 2 Tremoverb 2x12 combos with two mesa 2x12 blonde recto cabs. From what I understand from youtube videos each amp is set clean and dirty and run in stereo (though all of his effects are mono). Each has slightly different eq settings.

Personally i'd have two copies of the patch, one for active and one for passive. You can adjust the input trim in each patch to compensate.
What tuning are you using? It would be great to follow along in the same tuning. Thanks Leon!
Drop C
i don't understand the difference between not dialing a lot of bass vs use the filter in the cab
Where you cut bass is important and depends on the tone stack's position relative to the gain stages and other parts of the amp circuit.
Leon Todd its truth but it feels when am playing with my band it doesnt matter the bass tone of the guitar wont cut, should i raise my volume like the bass player?
I googled TS Brutal, mistakes were made. Oh boy.
Oh lord! Cue the Seinfield "not that there's anything wrong with that" meme
