    Josh, You've been my go to on AX8 tutorials and your explanations have worked with my mindset. I appreciate your time here on UA-cam helping all of us!!!

    I just got an AX8 and I look forward to all your AX8 videos. I get it now. A "Scene" is like a pedal switcher set up for each preset rig. When I got the AX8 I assumed you would just switch between presets. It really is like have 20 pedals on a board with a controller. AX8 is a fantastic tool but "daunting" as you said in another video. The guys that program this thing are geniuses.

    Thank you Josh! This was immensely helpful! Through these videos, you have done a fantastic job of helping me (and many others I'm sure) to understand the "method behind the madness" of Fractal Audio products. Your tutorials are much more useful to me, personally, than any of the Fractal manuals & tutorials have ever been! I really appreciate the way you explain everything in such a simple way without assuming people already know and understand fractal jargon. I also appreciate the way you get to the point quickly without rambling into unnecessary, time wasting conversation. YOU have a gift my friend! What a blessing! Once again, THANK YOU!! :)

      You're welcome Gary. I'm glad you're finding my videos to be helpful. I made them ages ago yet it's nice to know they're still relevant. The speed at which these gizmos change is mind-numbing. I learned ages ago to try to avoid assuming people's knowledge is at a certain level. I save the rambling for my classical guitar instruction videos hahaha. Have a good one and happy tone creation!

      joshua rogers Dude, I've been using an axe fx ii in studio for years & now been using it live for about a year & your AX8 vid even taught me more about using axe edit for that unit! Lol. Just got an ax8 to make fly dates etc a little easier & had no idea I'd need to go through "fractal school" all over again just to use it to its full potential. Your vids seriously saved me a lot of time & frustration.👍🏻

      You sound really experienced. It's interesting that we can go through life using something for ages and yet not fully understand. In all honestly I barely touched the tip of the iceberg with all of my videos combined. A truly astonishing piece of kit. I had a Boss GT10 for years and I never even got on top of everything that it could do.

    Great video thanks. I have one question, not specifically related to your video, or even the the AX8 but, here's my question, why do so these type of units seem to place the cab before delays and reverbs in the signal chain? In the real world the cab would always be last.

    • @nbnguitar
      @nbnguitar  8 років тому +1

      Hey Steven. Thanks mate. When using Fractal units stereo effects like delay and reverb are placed after the cab because unless you're using a stereo configuration for your cabs your stereo effects will be summed to mono depending on your cabinet block setup.
      An exception to this may be when you're using one of the spring reverb types available to you in the Reverb block. The 'traditional' placement for that is before the amp.
      I hope that helps!

    This is hands down the most complete, organized, and incredible tutorial I've seen so far on the AX8. I'm new to the unit and this really gives me a big jump start on what I need to do. Quick question; Is it possible to set this up to run 2 amps (say a friedmann HBE for dirty and Div/13 for clean) on the same preset but enable/disable which one is active per scene?

    • @nbnguitar
      @nbnguitar  7 років тому +1

      Thanks Daniel. Welcome to the AX8 world! Hmmm I'm a bit rusty but it might be. Try it out and see how you go man!

    • @danielcandia3050
      @danielcandia3050 7 років тому +1

      I figured it out (well... you already covered it in the video!). The same x/y options apply for the amp and cab blocks also which allowed me to pick a completely different combination for my clean tone.

    Hi Joshua,
    Great videos... one question ... Im setting up the AX8 to switch scenes but my problem is all scenes are the same efx besides XY amp the problem is if Im on scene one turn delay on go to scene 2 come back to scene 1 delay still on instead of off in other words scene save what Im using on the fly instead of what I saved ... hopefully youll understand what Im talking about
    cheers and keep posting videos

      Hi Javier. I believe this is what you need to do as it sounds as though you have your scene revert settings 'OFF' by 'default. Here's what you need to do:
      1. Press the SETUP button (Shift+Store).
      2. Press footswitch 2 to load the I/O menu.
      3. Turn to the MIDI page.
      4. Use the NAV knob to select “SCENE REVERT”.
      5. Use the VALUE knob to select “OFF” or “ON”. (In your case you'll want it "ON" because you want it to return to the original way that you set it up)
      6. Press the EXIT button twice to finish.
      Hope that helps Javier!

    i just got an ax8... but what i cant figure out is how to get an amp model say like in bank 1-6 (59 tweed bassman), how do i copy that amp model to say an empty spot i have like bank 40-1 so i can modify it and make presets or scenes while still leaving the original 59 tweed bassman in bank 1-6 alone?

    Can you use two verbs? It looks like "Reverb is Greyed out when you pull up the FX drop down. What if I need 2 or 3 different reverbs for a song? Say a large spring and a shimmer at different times? Thanks.

    • @nbnguitar
      @nbnguitar  7 років тому +1

      You can try using X & Y in your scenes or just toggling between the two. You can also put two different verbs in parallel but you have to be wary of your CPU usage as verbs are by far the most demanding of all FX on CPU power. Another method could be just to use 2 different patches but you're gonna have some lag which may or may not work for you in a live context.

    Question I can move my scenes in my laptop but in my Ax8 nothing appears. When I hit one of the scenes in my laptop I can see the boxes in my ax8 move but nothing shows up. How do I save them to my ax8? I must be doing something wrong any help would be great.

    • @nbnguitar
      @nbnguitar  8 років тому

      +Davey Woodford I sure can buddy. I'd be happy to. I'll try to get that out next week. It'll be kinda weird though because the gig I'm on doesn't have an amp and I don't have one either (I'm actually on a long tour and I only have 'tour' gear with me). But I'm sure I can jimmy something up so that you get the jist of it. Think you can wait that long?

    Can I change the amp trough the scene?

    • @nbnguitar
      @nbnguitar  7 років тому

      If you setup two amps in the patch then you can switch between them from scene to scene.
