Excellent job Francisco! Comprehensive, straightforward, honest and more informative than the answers you can get from calling the dealership service departments. Appreciate your post.
Your videos are absolutely so informative, honest, and I love watching them! I also have this car, 2011 750Li Individual.. I love it but so much to maintain. I wish I could do my own mechanic work! Just trying to inform myself so I know when I take it to my mechanic. Thanks so much
You missed a critical part of the procedure. Always ensure you can remove the fill plug before you drain the system. You are screwed if you drain the fluid and cannot remove the fill plug.
I have a 2017 BMW 739 li. I called 5 BMW dealers in the USA + BMW Germany. None of them advised to change the transmission fluid. They explained the science behind it very well to me. They just said never touch it. However, you will have to check it from time to time and if the level is low (due to evaporation during heated summer), then you can only top it with more fluid. But never change.
Very informative! I enjoyed how you detailed the work. I have a 328i with over 100k. I bought it used in 2018. I don't think the transmission fluid was ever changed. This is helps tremoundsly.
I have friends born in the United States who’s English isn’t as good as yours lol it’s nice to see the effort you put into your channel thank you I am impressed man new subscriber
Excellent video. Thanks so much. I prefer Valvoline MaxLife transmission fluid. It is $18.00 bucks a gallon at Walmart, and EXCEEDS the performance of ZF's fluid. ZF incorrectly thinks their fluid is liquid gold, and it isn't. What ZF charges for their fluid is robbery...
You are a HERO. Thanks and your videos will save people alot of money. Thanks for your support ... P.S. I have the 2013 model and this was so helpful!!!
I’d rate this guy’s skill level as not much more than a backyard mechanic. Always break loose the fill plug do then? He’s completely contaminated the fresh trans. fluid by mixing it in that filthy pump bucket. There is a very specific cross-pattern pan bolt tightening sequence for tightening the pan bolts. ZF has one pattern and BMW recommends something very similar, either way, he blew it by not following and cross-pattern tightening at all. For $20 more, he should have sent a sample of the old fluid out for analysis to gauge the wear on that transmission. Finally, the old fluid looked extremely dirty. The torque converter does not drain out when you change the fluid. With old fluid that dirty I would have flushed the fluid 2 or three times more to circulate all that old gunk out of the trans. Depending on the result of the fluid analysis, that he neglected, this would have been a good investment.
When addind fluid you have to run the car to a especific temp my measuring the fluid temp either with a scan tool or a cheap temp gun pointed at fluid/adding port. If it's pooring out when cold then you put to much since it expands. Btw gread video on the n63 valve cleaning with crc can. Will do that to mine
One thing to keep in mind, the fluid in the torque converter does not drain. I've seen some posts where an owner does one service and then another after 30 days, etc.
Very good video, another guy said take off the filler plug first because if you cant get it off or strip it you wont be able to drive it off the lift. why do they say its lifetime mine came out pretty black too.. Nice work. I put a new solenoid because I had fault code open circuit on c, I measured ohms and no resistance, the new one measure correct at 5.1 ohm after put back together still have code for open circuit, I hope just have to erase the codes from before or mechtronic have another problem in circuit. 2006 rover zf hp26
Great video as usual....my n63 transmission have a bit leak ...I'm wondering if I can just replace the pan gasket instead of the whole pan so pricey Thanks
My friend, before doing anything on the gearbox, the first thing to do is to open the oil filler plug. because if you drain the oil first and don't get the screw open, you won't get any new oil in your gearbox either. it is better to drive with old oil than with no oil in the transmission. Just by the way. otherwise very informative video. Greetings from Bavaria
Doesn’t the new transmission oil in the transmission become immediately contaminated if you do not drain the old transmission fluid out of the torque converter as well?
Great video my man I was just wondering I believe there is a tightening procedure for the actual transmission pan the crisscross tightening pattern but you made everything look so simple fantastic job on the video
Thanks good vid..I have 740libmw 2013 milage now 185k never changed transmission fluid ..since I bought it...car looks heavy when driving ..and no 1 and 2 takes time to shift...can I change gear box oil now ..what's your advise
Nice video but given you felt that the oil had never been changed why did you not also change the mechatronic bridge and 4 little plastic seals/tubes as well as the sleeve for the electrical plug? Thanks for uploading.
Awesome info. Thanks, subscribed. Hopefully that is all is needed on my f10 2011 528i. Starts up no issues but no gear shifting. I have never drained the transmission oil since purchased meaning for > 227K miles nor the transmission filter. Curious where your shop is. Thanks again.
Hi Great videos!! ✌️ I have a BMW X6 with a ZF 6hp28x gearbox I have changed the oil and filters and now when I drive 10 meters backwards or forwards and brake the car stalls as if you release the clutch too quickly. Once it's warm it's over What could that be??? Have you ever experienced this? regards Koen
Hello have problem with my car bmw 740 li 2010 when open lock of car it’s show transmission fall , then when I start the engine the handle of gear it’s holding on D but no effect!! But when I switch of the engine and start agin the car is working perfectly so please you advise ?
Francisco, Hey Men I appreciate your help and am a big fun of yours. Quick question.. I have a 2014 BMW 320i with bad TCM. It has a bad temperature sensor. I have bought a used transmission from LKQ. Is it true that used TCM can’t be coded to the car?? And if it can be done which scanner can do that? I see you have a snap on solus. Any help Will be highly appreciated.🙏
Thanks for the diy's. I have a 2011 x5 50i with an 8sp. Planning to do this now as car is on 75,000kms. I read on a forum a while back that it is a hard job and the oil needs to be at operating temperature when you add it. Is this true? otherwise its a straight forward process.
Ok so I am having problems with my 2006 BMW X5 it doesn't seem to want to fully go into gear , like now that I just did a ALL fluid replacement for the tranny fluid an all that, it does actually make a step forward what I mean by that is it, it is actually WANTING to go into gear now, as opposed to before I would start it, & would try to put it in gear (TRIED BUT NO SUCCESS, WITH ALLL GEARS) so big difference between then an now. But now it seems like it wants to super bad but my gears all seem to have came outta linement, if that makes any since ?? Do u know why this is ??! Or how one goes about fixing it, an getting it to be in the correct chain of enlinenment????? PLEASE HELP ??!!😵💫😫🤯😳🤔🥺 Sincerely, a EXTREMELY CONFUSED, FRUSTRATED, loyal (2 a fault) 4 EVER, BMW LOVER 😍
I have a 2006 BMW 330 I. It will not go into drive: the shifter goes into “D” position, it does not register in the actual transmission. It will go into reverse and park effectively. There is a light on the instrument panel with a “!” . The code reader says: p1155 and one other one, I think MAF censor. Can any unrelated censors causd
My 2011 f10 BMW has a lifetime oil and says not to replace it but i know nothing to do with a BMW is lifetime and is designed to fail so do i replace that or no.
I am German and unfortunately do not recommend this approach at all. The sealing surfaces on the gearbox must be cleaned thoroughly. The screws are tightened crosswise with torque and not serially as shown. When filling, start with 35C gearbox temperature. Then the gearbox converter must be filled. This is achieved by rotating the gearbox at 2000 rpm for 30 seconds. Then the level is checked and filled again at 45C gearbox temperature. The maintenance is then completed. Any other procedure may damage the gearbox!
I agree and would add that you check if it is possible to remove the fill plug before you drain the old fluid. If you cannot remove the fill plug and have drained the old fluid, you are screwed.
Excellent job Francisco! Comprehensive, straightforward, honest and more informative than the answers you can get from calling the dealership service departments. Appreciate your post.
Thank you so much for making these detailed F01/02 videos. Appreciate the bolt tourque info too!
I'll take your word over a BMW mechanic any day. Good instruction, I learned a great deal.

not true can pump through drain plug,
The perfect explanation of exactly what to do . I just completed the trans flush myself. Thanks
Did you perform this with only jackstands or had to use a lift?
I have a 2017 BMW 739 li. I called 5 BMW dealers in the USA + BMW Germany. None of them advised to change the transmission fluid. They explained the science behind it very well to me. Great explanation Thank you❤
Doesn’t the new transmission oil in the transmission become immediately contaminated if you do not drain the old transmission fluid out of the torque converter as well?
Great video. Will this apply to a 2007 BMW X5 as well?
Great video my man I was just wondering I believe there is a tightening procedure for the actual transmission pan the crisscross tightening pattern but you made everything look so simple fantastic job on the video
The bolts were torqued incorrectly in this video. You should start centrally and proceed in a cross-cross pattern.
Im looking to replace the transmission and i want to know do i have to replace the mechatronic/valve body as well?
you should tight finally the plug when the transmission gets between 30 and 50 degrees celsius . not before.
Thanks good vid..I have 740libmw 2013 milage now 185k never changed transmission fluid ..since I bought it...car looks heavy when driving ..and no 1 and 2 takes time to shift...can I change gear box oil now ..what's your advise

Do you have any video of the change engine and trasnmission mount
Hi thank u for your information
My car ise 2009 BMW x5 3.0i awd am i need to use zf ligeguard 6 or if i use resontin would it be any problem
Great video. thank you
Hello what mm hex tool did you use to open to drain
Good job mate 👍
Great job but take the fill plug off before drain plug and thank you
My replacement pan dosnt have a hole on the side to pump transmission fluid back in. Is this normal or the plug is on the car
Thank you! Do you know where the 3 plastic seals are ? The ones that usually shrink due to the heat and causes the fluid to leak
Mechatronic sleeve and seals
Did you check temperature? Before final fill. If so how?
How many quarts of transmission fluid does the 2007 750 Li usually take?
Approximately 4 to 6.5 litres

Thank you for sharing.
My 745 was in a front end accident and now the trans. Is in imp mode”
Being in a accident caused it to go into limp mode. Do you know why ?
Do you have to do a transmission reset after you change the transmission oil and filter on a 2012 F02 750li?
Nice video. One question. When checking fluid level on second check, with engine running, must it be engaged in neutral or in gear?
Great video...thank you so much!
This is a wonderful video!
Great vídeo. It is very helpful
Bien echo primo
Love your help and save me some money

does the transmission have to be a certain temperature when filling it while running the second time? Thanks
It should be between 30-40 Celsius
Francisco, when you placed the pan back, did I miss the part where the new rubber packing was to be inserted or was it already placed on the pan.
It's pre-installed on the pan
You don’t have to drain a torque converter?
Thanks for the diy's. I have a 2011 x5 50i with an 8sp. Planning to do this now as car is on 75,000kms. I read on a forum a while back that it is a hard job and the oil needs to be at operating temperature when you add it. Is this true? otherwise its a straight forward process.

Do you have a video for a 2014 320i?
Hello frincisco to change the fliud only, do you have to take the cover off?
Or just let the oil drain from the iol plug and plug it back and refiil?
Is there another way to fill the transmission with oil? On my 2010 bmw 528i!
What about temperture checking during filling. The filling should be done betwen 40-50

Lifetime fluid is a myth. They want you to never change the fluid so when it breaks, you must buy another car
Did that fix the problem? Any updates
Thank You Very Much !!!
2012 BMW 750li how many quarts do you suggest? Thanks in advance continued Success
i stripped the trans fill plug, it has been a headache, since i dont have it on a lift. my back neck cant take it. any suggestions.?
I did the same. put a Allen head in there. that's how I got it off
THANK YOU SIR..
thanks for you're help
Should I heat the plug first or would that damage something internally?
You can do that before installing the filter pan, must be cautious
thanks buddy.
Hi men my gearbox go to limp mode and never whant drive and mesage is gearbox not ok go to service garage
Thank you!
Thanks
Do you have your own shop where are you located
Is this the same for a 2007 750i
is the fill plug on the passenger or driver side ?
Right side, left hand driver
Thank you
When you tighten transmission nuts; you must diagonal torque rather than sequence torque as shown!
Never done that in my life. Done at least 30-40 transmission and oil pans. Never once had a leak. So saying you must is a farce friend. Good day
40 degree temp???
allvays loosen the filler plug first and never use any grease on transmission
I am German and unfortunately do not recommend this approach at all.
The sealing surfaces on the gearbox must be cleaned thoroughly. The screws are tightened crosswise with torque and not serially as shown. When filling, start with 35C gearbox temperature. Then the gearbox converter must be filled. This is achieved by rotating the gearbox at 2000 rpm for 30 seconds. Then the level is checked and filled again at 45C gearbox temperature.
