Alan Ladd had been dead for 7 years when this interview was made, and I just want to applaud Veronica for taking up for him and respecting his insecurities. Knowing how he felt about himself and remaining faithful to him as a friend, even after he was gone.

Great interview. Veronica Lake had a great voice when she was young and as she got older

An awkward interview, I would’ve just let her talk, instead of interrupting her insulting her.

I love, love, love Veronica Lake (I really do) and while I am very happy to finally see this interview, I have found it very tough-going each time I've seen it. Veronica Lake called Dick Cavett a "twit" -- not once, but two times! She had been living in England for a few years (there's a hint of that in her speaking style) so perhaps "twit" doesn't have the same negative connotation as it does in the U.S.. But still, it did not make her particularly endearing. It was an awkward interview all-round. I don't think Cavett and Lake had much chemistry, Cavett's obvious questions about Alan Ladd's height and drawn-out talk about Howard Hughes didn't help matters (how about really discussing HER CAREER!) and Lake's comments about Fredric March didn't endear her with the audience. Lake hadn't made a Hollywood film for over 20 years and only a few of her films were regularly seen on TV back around 1970 -- perhaps the audience had a hard time warming up to her because they barely knew her...

Howard Hughes was really strange. The stories sound like they can't be real but they are...

Wow, she had a sexy voice. Dick Cavette is disappointing. I thought he was a better interviewer. He had trouble listening to her and matching her tempo.

It is a weird one, he is usually better than this. He might have been on edge because she's drunk but she was still perfectly coherent.

She was an extraordinary woman, beautiful & different, over all her acting from the rest of the actresses, she brought something different to hollywood, a look & a fashion different.
until she began to be a walking incubator having children with every man who crossed her path and lost the soul of an actress.

She shoud have let her hair fall forward. Howard Hughes used tissues to touch anything in his hotel room. Very germaphobe. Might be because of his head injury in his plane crash.
