    Never had a Taurus, do own the 365 and others. Went with 4 others and tested the CX4 and became a instant fanboy. Ordered one that night. Taurus obvious came out to fight hard in this Micro9 market and it shows. They seem to have taken the best of many guns and put into this lovely firearm. And it shoots great and mine is totally reliable with just about every kind of ammo I could find. Love the way they did the Off hand grip. Love the fact that they sent two back straps and two 11 rd magazines. And this gun is solid quality. A strong steel chassis, and a much improvement over the grips of others. IMO and others at the range, we alll agreed this is top dog in the Micro 9mm world.

    I think it's great to see how the various brands are choosing to fill this new segment of the firearm space. I believe they're all offering excellent options. Even those that I feel are at the bottom of the pack seem to be actually good pistols that I wouldn't have any issue with carrying. It is also nice to see Taurus actively improving recently.
    Without having shot one and only having watched UA-cam reviews of the GX4, it seems like a very solid option, hitting above its price point and _not_ bringing up the rear of the pack.

    Love my GX4 great gun
    Have about 200 rounds thru it with no hiccups of any kind . I looked at a few ,the Roger max 9 just didn't feel right and didn't like the trigger on the ruger.the Springfield didn't feel great in the hand but I liked the sights. Buddy of mine has one and it shoots ok
    But that GX4 is feels good I can hit with it very good for a micro 7 yards .
    I also have a Gluck 42 that a carry in the summer because of its size ..easy to conceal.
    I compared them very little difference in size The Glock is a hair thinner but the GX4 11+1 9mm easy to conceal is a real winner here, my personal opinion you don't need optics on a micro no point in it..
    Taurus does have a ameraglow big dot / night sight for the GX4 on the taurus store sight that I might get for my old eyes.
    But bottom line is ..small compact high capacity and shoots good and no malfunctions . Taurus hit it on the nose with this model.. can't complain ..good gun ,buy one when you can find them, they are selling like hot cakes.
    And good reason...

      Man, I had 200 rounds through mine and no hiccups. I carried it for 6 months after that, and then I went shooting the other day. I had some VERY dangerous malfunctions with it just on the second mag I put through it that day. At 200 rounds I was impressed. At 212 rounds, I decided to never carry the gun again. Delayed striker, no trigger break, failure to fire at all…all on the 2nd magazine that day. I hope yours is good, but I’ll never trust it again.

    • @workthetrigger

      Good to know. I've heard a couple of different stories of a couple of different issues at this point, got yours mixed up with a different one. Humble had actually told me to verify my barrel because it had some similar markings to yours. • @workthetrigger
      @workthetrigger  3 роки тому

      There's a big difference between practicing and plinking around. I can put a few hundred rounds through a Shadow 2 easier and with more comfort then I can a P01, but I wouldn't carry or train for carry with the shadow 2. I can comfortably put even more rounds though a Ruger 22/45. Way more then I could the others. There are guns who's designs accommodate more comfort on the range that are generally more fun to shoot, or "plink" with. Training isn't plinking.

    I love this pistol but the one issue I had was after about 500 rounds I brought it home and noticed the recoil rod was sticking out the front of the frame...I was able to screw it back down with my fingers but if I hadn't noticed and it came all the way off, I would assume that would cause a major malfunction. I can't wait til Lakeline LLC or some other brand comes out with an aftermarket stainless steel recoil rod and spring like they did for the G2 and G3.

      I highly recommend checking out the trigger issues and sticking with a gun that you know is reliable. I put 200 rounds through mine right after I bought it and thought everything was fine. I carried it for 6 months after that. Then I shot it again the other day and had some very disturbing trigger issues on the 2nd mag I put through it that day. I sent it in to Taurus yesterday, so hopefully they’ll replace it with a new one, but I won’t be carrying that. I’ll probably just sell it for a loss and go with something that’s proven to be more reliable.

    I own 4 Taurus handguns (really like them too) and 3 Sigs (really like them also). I own Rugers too so no brand bias in what I am going to say here.
    I have shot the Ruger Max 9, Hellcat and the GX4 at my range. I own the base model P365. All 4 are excellent firearms. For me and my medium large hands the P365 fits the best but I did spend $18 for two Pearce magazine pinky extensions. The Ruger Max 9 to me is over priced but shoots fairly well but to me is basically blah.... The Hellcat fit my hands fairly well but was really snappy. So was the GX4 with my pinky hanging off compared to the P365 using the exact same 115 grain FMJ range ammo. Fit, finish and reliability of the P365 (after Sig fixed the striker issues) is outstanding and worth every penny. I can't say the same for the Max 9 or the GX4 yet, it is still too early for reliability and finish. The Hellcat is a fine, high quality sub compact. However, the overall build quality of the P365 is really stunning and surpasses the Max 9 and GX4 and equals at least, the Hellcat. I am not saying good things about the P365 because it has been an easy journey for me. I had to learn how to shoot it like I was starting all over again. Lots of range hours before I felt comfortable with it. The GX4, throwing out the level of felt recoil and short grip was surprisingly easy to shoot although I also had plenty of trigger finger pinching............I just don't care for the Hellcat (more finger pinching)....... and the Ruger Max 9 just seems like a "me too" gun.
    So my P365 with factory tritium night sights, two 10 round mags, manual safety (which I wanted), included polymer Sig holster and the two mag base plate extensions cost me $515. The big retailer where I bought it sells the Max 9 and Hellcat base models for $489 and the base P365 for $499. The GX4 currently is $369. Put a quality set of tritium night sights and mags with extended baseplates on the GX4 and the price is roughly the same as the others. When the GX4 base model is sub $300 I may buy one. It would be an outstanding value at around $279.
    For raw ease of shooting, the G3C ($249 at the same retailer) is more comfortable to hold, easier to shoot and a better value than the GX4 where the GX4 is currently priced. Yes I know the G3C is not a sub compact but it is really close and easy to conceal, at least for me.

I suppose since this is a defense carry gun it's not going to be shot enough to worry over , " I suppose " .

He said it was a deal breaker having the trigger that was that stiff and heavy , one trigger pull he was measuring 9 pounds. He said when shooting his reloads a spent cases got stuck in the chamber and had to dislodge it with a tool which he said was the gun not from shooting his reloads and to be aware of that .in the comment section a lot of people saying they wouldn't buy one because of the trigger and of course he wouldn't keep it

      Thing about Taurus, their product varies. More then I've seen with most. The trigger is an easy thing to get use to, but you shouldn't have to. Every other aspect of that trigger is equal to or better than the competition, they just need to drop that weight by quite a bit.

    • @FMJIMAGES

      Taurus says in the manual that comes with the gun, not to shoot reloads in it so with that being said, I'm not going to hold anything against the gun because Justin Opinion used it in a way it wasn't designed to be used. If Taurus didn't say that in the manual, I would hold it against the gun. Having the G2c and a Gen 5 Glock 45, I love this trigger and prefer it over both of those.

    Taurus has been doing great with its G series 9's. I own (and love) the G2C, which is my glove box gun, and pocket carry the P365. I've heard nothing but great things about the GX4, and might eventually replace my G2C with one. I wouldn't even think, however, of replacing my P365 with the GX4, although for those who don't want to incur the much higher price of the P365, the GX4 is not a bad compromise. Your mentioning of a better feel in the hand for both the Hellcat and the GX4 is quite commonly mentioned in reviews--almost always followed by "but the P365 still shoots way better". But one thing has recently elevated the P365 even higher above its competitors: the relatively new (and apparently not well known) MagGuts +2 extender kit. It adds 2 extra rounds to the OEM mags, and since it uses a flat metal spring instead of the usual coiled spring, it only adds a barely noticeable 1/8" of additional length, keeping the P365 at the top of its class capacity wise on a comparable height basis. Since my big hands means I must use the OEM 12 round extended mags to avoid a hanging pinkie, I'm now at 14+1, only 1 round less than a Glock 19, yet it fits easily and conveniently in my pocket (unless I'm sitting in my car--then it's the G2C, if needed.)

      Build quality and reputation is lacking for SIG. Their 365 wasn't ready and they used the public as their beta testers with a gun that wasn't reliable. Then let's not forget that their 320 wasn't drop safe and went off when dropped on the back of the slide.

  • @izzy7067
    @izzy7067 2 роки тому

    Pretty pathetic little play there. All you said was true except you left out that the other compacts at twice the price don't do anything twice as good. And the fact that the only thing these things do is conceal well and go bang, with the same rounds coming out the opposite end. All the PONTIFICATING about small issues aren't that important. If you actually ever have to use any of these weapons in self defense, you will have them confiscated to never be seen again anyway.

    • @workthetrigger
      @workthetrigger  2 роки тому

      ... For it to matter that they take your gun, you have to survive the encounter. I have heard of enough issues with the Taurus trigger to keep me from trusting it. Much like p365s in the beginning. But the p365 outgrew it's issues and is now the most reliable of the bunch, and the hellcats don't seem to have many widespread issues.
      Point being, you're going to put price over confidence in a product. I know the sig will work. I know the Springfield will work... I don't know if the Taurus will. And that's not work a couple hundred bucks.

    Comparison of the *Taurus vs the SIG* by Logic:
    A wash - Round count is _irreverent_ pass 6 or 7 bullets as the average shots fired in all self-defense is 2 to 4 shots (FBI data)
    SIG P365 is better - higher quality, known reputation of being reliable & accurate pistol.
    SIG P365 is worse - being higher end = higher price so poorer folks & low income individuals can not afford it.
    Taurus GX4 is better - low price is great for the poor so now they can defend themselves too like the general public.
    Also, being a copy of the Glock 43 (by ---stealing--- _borrowing_ Glock R&D) it should more reliable than most Taurus'.
    Taurus GX4 is worse - Taurus has a bad reputation for unreliability & very, very poor customer service. The Taurus GX4 is lower quality than the SIG (point one). The Taurus will have lower re-sell value than the SIG. The Taurus copies Glocks R&D as said so it should work. _But_ why not just get the original (G43) instead of a copy cat (point two).
    *NOTE:* (opinion) This emphasis on the trigger of CCW guns & non-competition handguns is ridiculous. Will the very small different in how a striker fired trigger works make a different is the high stress event of a shooting. Will it even matter for anything if you actually use the gun, practicing to *_learn_* the gun. There are no good or bad triggers in CCW or self-defense. There are trigger that need to be _learned._
    SPRINGFIELD ARMORY - I will not buy from due to their anti-gun lobbying for more money.
    EDIT: Happy FATHER'S DAY today!

      no about taurus reliability. pt111 g2 mill pro, g2c g3(c) all very reliable pistols. People forget that the p365 was junk for many for months after release. MAC had 3 bad p365's in a row. I will say that these problems have finally been worked out.
