  • Hello! I got my dirty mittens on a 890 adventure, again! And oh boy do I like this bike... puts all opother adv bikes to shame if you ask me :o
    The story is: My friend and fellow content creator Eddy (from @empath2 channel) travelled to Portugal and spent 3 days training and riding with me, and then we took an extra day for this "mutual interview" and to hang out some more.
    He is an amazing guy with lots of interesting ideas, projects and thoughts, and simply someone that you feel good to have around :D
    Follow his channel and his adventures around the world (he travels with Max, his soon-to-be-wife who rides a KTM390 adventure at the moment )

    Incredible point of view about the pro and cons of this bike... many review told us the weight is low the balance is good.. but you showed that to us in a way that we cannot understand wrong .. Well done ..

    Nice look at the Gen 2 890 Adventure. I have the Gen 1 and absolutely love the bike. It’s a very manageable mid weight bike, capable of freeway speeds and manipulating on the dirt and tight places. I have to ride my 890 between a cottage and another structure to secure the bike in the fenced back yard. The 890 is so much easier to ride or push in those tight confines compared to the Pan America and 1290 SA-R that I had before.

    Completely agree on the tubeless tires. On my T7 I plan to get the rims converted to tubeless. They are just too much of a hassle.

    Hi Diogo,yes amazingly,,light,,with the low centre of gravity!Iwas expecting he would add heated grips for his northern trip but it might be standard😮I am also impressed with all the good reviews the Tuareg 660 gets perhaps a bit less powerfull but also with actually working electronics.Lot of other exciting new bikes coming out too like the Kove 450 rally bike…seems like an amazing price for all that stuff that is standard.

      Hey Robert! Thanks for still watching 😅
      I tried the tuareg the other day (only for a very short while) and liked it very much...i am not sure it feels as light as the 890, but very close!

    Nice with Re-visit to bikes. Now 2023 there are so many good choices that the T700 feels like the old heavy beater. Tuareg 660 is a bit better but annoying UI for the electronics. The Transalp 750 is a hoot, but "jerky" and the price for most positive surprise goes to the Suzuki 800DE. Super fast and easy mode control. Low wind noise, super comfy and butter smooth engine.
    And we might se one or two new 690 at the end of 2023. Nice times. Now we just wait for Kawasaki, BMW and MotoGuzzi to join the game

      A little bit! I still dont think they are necessary, but i have to admit they are very good nowadays...the abs does an outstanding job (even on the crf300), and most traction controls on these more expensive bikes are very smooth, almost unoticeable... i really cant complain anymore 😅

    If you think that bike is so good and easy (I bet it really is, I test rode the 2023 890R...) wait until you test the Aprilia Tuareg 660. That's the real game changer.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse
      @OFFroadOFFcourse  Рік тому +2

      The difference between the normal version and the R is just how fast you can do things...if you are a super aggressive rider who likes to jump from rock to rock, then the R. If you are a bit more moderate (like i consider myself to be) probably you will never reach the limits of the normal version anyway 😂

    The new style is such a huge improvement, but the headlights are still god awful fugly 😂.
    An update on current reliability would be an interesting topic. KTM doesn't have the best reputation, but I've started to hear more & more often long term personal reviews that they seem to be getting better?. However I did a month or so ago see one person had a 2022 model that he had an electronic gremlin that after 9 months KTM still failed to rectify so he gave it back and bought a T7.
    I still ride an old honda 650 Transalp that I want to replace. I'm 175cm tall & approx 65 or 70 kg right after Xmas 😅. I've tried a T7 and it's just to lofty and top heavy for me. This new 890, looks aside , seems like the perfect choice, but for concerns over reliability ?.

    • @davidmallia628
      @davidmallia628 Рік тому

      Yes, T7 too tall, too top heavy for my liking. You should try the new Transalp, but this bike seems the best design, best performance for both on road and off road. KTM really know their business. Reliability seems to be the only doubt in many people's mind. If the KTM 890 can prove itself on this count, it would certainly be the bike for me.

    • @OFFroadOFFcourse
      @OFFroadOFFcourse  Рік тому

      They are completely different things I think... one is a big enduro bike, the other is a very well balanced adventure bike.
      Nowadays I think I would have more use for a 890 than a 690. Maybe 3-4 years ago I would say the opposite. There are no bad bikes, only bad choices xD

      @@Coldgecko If I would be alone, and on "unexplored trails", then the 690. Just cause if shit hits the fan hard, the 690 will be lighter.
      However, if I was going to be riding on previously explored tracks meant for motorcycles (maybe from a forum, or a friend, or an event or something), then perhaps I would risk taking the 890...why not? As long as its not hard enduro stuff, extreme mud, or 23923 miiles of continuous sand desert, etc etc).
      As for reliability goes, I wouldnt take any of the 2 without running them in properly for some considerable thousand miles and making sure they don't have any of those pesky modern problems modern bikes sometimes have :D

      @@OFFroadOFFcourse Awesome. Thanks. Funny enough, I have taken both BMW F850GSA and R1200GSA/1250GSA around the world over 100,000 miles in the worst conditions -- never, ever an issue with problems... They are just heavy beasts and I swore on my next trip I would drop weight -- problem is finding a reliable bike as good as the BMW... Ok, that was helpful.
