This is one of my favorite podcasts so far. Heavy on the technical content, even more is good. My favorite ones have Aaron. He understands so many aspects of shooting.
Nunya Biznes have to agree. I couldn’t even watch/listen to much of it. Kept interrupting so much. Pretty rude. Just let the poor guy answer questions.
Will Spence I’m so ready to start the 300 PRC build but so hard to find places already making the barrel that can fit a magnum action for this so hopefully now that Gunwerks has made a rifle in it some other places will be easier to get barrels made to fit the round size
Great info on the 300 PRC...... My next rifle purchase will be a 300 PRC. I wish to call everyone's attention to a 7: 14 video on you tube (type in 300 PRC) by Todd Helms @ Eastmans Hunting Journal.........He explains the benefits of this round while at the bench at a shooting range. For a soon to be non- reloader, the factory 300 PRC offerings at this time, the 212 gr for hunting and the 225 gr match for target shooting offers very accurate factory ammo............Browning, Bergara, Christensen, Fierce are all on my new rifle short list.
Was excited to listen to this, then heard the audio quality. You have a perfectly good Yeti right in front of you, but you choose a tinny headset mic, and this guy at Hornady sounds like he's doing the interview from the office bathroom. When there's nothing to look at, audio quality becomes important.
Gday great discussion. I would like to ask your opinion on the 280 Ackley improved against the 7mm rem mag being that it's not a beltted magnum with what it can actually achieve
Great interview but Why is the 300Wby not even mentioned? Only the WinMag, Nosler and & Rum. I’m currently swapping from the Wby to the PRC but primary due to ammo cost.
Rhino, the Weatherby is not really in the same field, hard to make it shoot 1/4-1/2" groups, belted, sloppy throat, factory ammo is twice the cost of 300 PRC. in it day the Weatherby was Top Gun but Times Change.
As a follow up question. 1- Can you please inquire why of the 26.5” barrel? I am shooting the 300 PRC out of a 28” and my factory 225gr is at 2910fps. This seems to be the same velocity he is also reporting. Does this mean that at 26” all the powder has been burned and so, anything longer then 26” is a diminishing return? 2-why are they recommending a 1-8.5 twist for the 250gr A-tip? And will the barrels at 1-8 twist stabilize the 250gr bullet as good as the 1-8.5? Thank you
Its all physics. You should get higher velocities out of the longer barrel because of the large pressures, and the half inch off the twist length will make it spin faster. With each round at each speed, range, and atmospheric conditions there will be different optimal numbers. You want it to spin so that it follows the arc and doesn't gyro point the wrong direction as it starts to fall unless you want to use that to get a slightly flatter trajectory. You want the twist rate to not take away all the driving force of the round or tear up the gear, etc. Each build will act differently in a slight way, you can figure it out for yourself with some cheat sheets to get a rough estimate of what yours should be. Take a look at TiborasaurusRex's channel. Its a bit fragmented and repetitive, but gets the point across.
That is only 1.5 difference if barrel length..factory 24" says 2820 fps on the box..so you are gaining in velocity at a realistic rate. Barrels of the same length can vary a fair amount in velocity. Your 1-8 twist is good for the 250 A-tip. There is a lot of hype (BS) in this add like the acceptance of s/d of 30 feet per second outrageous. The king of the 2 mile are using .375 and .416 lathe turned solids in the winners circle...no 30's or .338's. This is only a 2000 yard cartridge at 1500 ft elevation or above...an extra 100 to 200 yards over the easy shooting 6.5 cartridges with equal 24 inch barrels... The 300 PRC better at hunting it carries more energy, just paper and steel at a mile or less the 6.5 is competitive and cheaper by far.
Good information but for the life of me I cant figure out why, unless its the more money thing, they think the 300 PRC will do anything the Weatherby 300 mag or the 300/378 will not do..Ill stick to my Weatherby's
Yes they have to admit all the current problems can be fixed by customization or even slight customization of existing 30 caliber magnum cartridges...although I like the 300 PRC you can do just as good or better with other 30 mags. ...LOL outside sammi specs by a few thousands on COAL, more like what handloader doesn't... like long seating 308 to get 2750 fps with 200 grain CN SMK .715 g1 BC...So his 300 PRC with .777 225 ELD is only 150 feet faster than my 308 load with the same barrel length and a .715 BC...and he is afraid of 10 shot strings, another LOL...This is nothing new handloaders and wildcaters have been doing this for years.

A trick: watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
@Wayne Bruno yea, I have been watching on flixzone} for months myself :)
Good information, too bad Hornady's audio was horrible and the interviewer interrupts so much nobody could finish a thought.
Nunya Biznes have to agree. I couldn’t even watch/listen to much of it. Kept interrupting so much. Pretty rude. Just let the poor guy answer questions.
This was eye opening. Really sheds light on the comment that 300PRC is the same thing as 300WM. Thank you for the info!
Best prc information I have seen thanks
The 300 PRC is my next build. Looking forward to shooting it.

@@CurtisDavis89 I decided on a defiance tactical long action with a bartlein MTU 29 in barrel in a manners T4A stock. Just waiting on the parts.
This video would have been much better if the interviewer didn't interrupt every time.
Great information. Think you helped me make up my mind.
Hard to listen to when interviewer constantly interrupts the guest.
Yes! There are bigger bullet nerds than me I am geeking out over this I will have a 300prc to match 7lrm 😎

Should have also compared it to the norma mag 😊
Aaron kind of looks like Ron Swanson from parks and rec in this
Great Show. Would like to see a 212 A-tip in 300 PRC. Looking for 800 to 1500 meter cold bore. At 3000 fps
Gday great discussion. I would like to ask your opinion on the 280 Ackley improved against the 7mm rem mag being that it's not a beltted magnum with what it can actually achieve
Great Cast Aaron. Keep at it

Weatherby is just for hunting. Not designed for anything else.
Mean stache bro 👍🏻👍🏻
LMFAO
Swansonesqe for sure.
Magnum PI...lol... perfect
The powders referred to for the 300 PRC and heavy bullets were RL 26 & Retumbo. Would RL 33 be in that same vein?
Your reloading book should have a powder speed list. See if it’s close to speed.
I looked for you… should work

Have you shoot 150 rounds through your barrel yet? Velocities will go from 2910 to 2990-3020 once you do I am willing to bet.
That barrel could be 30 inches long and still not use all the gas. Check out what the Savage arms competition shooters are using.
Great info!

What happened to Aaron? Big boys gaining some pounds.
Derek Lecount too much office not enough outdoors
Growing out that Magnum PI mustache..lol... magnum.lol.. perfect....🤣
he's got that thiiiiccness

Can you build a 300 PRC off a 300 H&H platform (Winchester pre 64 action)?
Hidely-Ho good neighbor !
I can’t find either the factory load nor the casings or bullets
my ammo 300win mag seated .007 off the lands has no problem fitting in magazine
every gun shoots factory ammo different and is why youll always have to hand load for Optimumaccuracy
Cant really change 300wm barrel for 300 prc and shoot factory length ammo.
Without 3.850 mags or magwell
Oh hi Andy Reid.
also hornady cant make ammo and sell it to me any where near as cheap as i can custom make it
Where does a .300WSM fit in the .30 cal conversion?
Da Bears
Good info but the interviewer isn’t very good at this whole podcast thing.
Like
