  • Measurable snow and temps below zero - how did we do?
Last week Storm Demi rolled through Central Pennsylvania and Harmony Turbines experienced its first severe weather this winter season. While the intensity of this storm doesn't begin to compare to what other areas of the country see during the winter, it did cause hazardous conditions here. This was a good first test for us, as our ALPHA unit is just a base model with no cold-weather measures in place. How did it hold up? Did it collect copious amounts of snow? Did it still spin? Did it freeze up during our sub-zero wind chills? Cheryl and Chris walk you through the results in this video!
This is an important update for all the folks who've been wondering how our turbines will hold up to winter weather. Our winters are fairly mild in Pennsylvania, so our chances to observe any successes or failures in this realm are limited. We will continue sharing our encounters with severe weather as they occur.
If you like what we're doing and are interested in investing, please check out our crowdfunding site. You can become a part-owner of Harmony Turbines for as little as $200*. (www.startengine...)
We're glad you're along for the journey and thankful for your support.

Now THAT is proof of concept. Where I live, on a gentle incline of a hill, in central TX, we got snow as well. Froze my pipes (again) and left me under every blanket I own. Continual power is a must! Thank you.

Well I don't love the cold weather but I do love the fact that it works in cold weather, thanks for that and stay warm!

Next time you are up on the roof you could drop a POE webcam for monitoring (and the website :D )

In central Alberta here - if you need some beta testers, I’d sign up 😜 Regularly gets to -40 Celsius here in the winter (have had colder during cold snaps, and often warmer), sleet, freezing rain, heavy and light snows, snow squalls.

Wind turbines are important to any power system, picking up energy at night, when nothing else does that.

There are no companies out there producing a good professional wind turbine.

I do not know of any of the large tower windmills capable of paying their own way in the marketplace.
