  • In the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans is one of the most iconic homes in the city. The legendary Fats Domino owns a house and studio in the neighborhood he grew up in. In 2005, the home and everything inside (along with much of the area) was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Fats lost almost everything. He doesn't live at this house anymore, but it has since been restored and sits unoccupied in a neighborhood still trying to recover from the storm and man-made disaster that happened in 2005.

Hi there, I’m NOLADEEJ! I go to different places in and around New Orleans and sometimes to other cities, states, and countries. I visit Roadside Attractions, Historical Spots, Cemeteries, Abandoned Places, Festivals and Events. I try to check as much out as I can and share what I find here so everyone can enjoy it. If you like what you see, please consider subscribing to my channel. I post videos often! Thanks for dropping by!
The images used in this video were found via searches and wikipedia. I could not find sources for most of these images to site. Please contact me if one or more of these pictures I've used is yours and I will most certainly amend and give you the credit you deserve for the photos.
The video clip source was only found to be uploaded by a personal account. I can not find any reliable source information for the clip of Fats Domino performing 'Ain't That a Shame' from Imperial Records released in 1955.

Based on your vids, I *think* we're neighbors. The CC's coffee in one of your vids is just down the street from me in RR. I think I bike past where you shot the batture vid on the levee too!

A bit of trivia... When Fats was evacuated during Katrina he stayed in Baton Rouge at the apartment of the LSU quarterback Jamarcus Russel. Russell was dating Fat's granddaughter at the time.

Beautifully done, Deej! They just don't make them like Fats anymore, do they? Really glad those places were restored and maybe one day, they can be re-opened as museums.

That isnt his original home although he owned that property as well.the original house is where the rought iron fence is. His home faced Marais street which is the side street . Corner of Marais and caffin avenue. The house shown is on caffin avenue.

I always thought that Chubby Checker created his name a copy of Fats' name. Both first names are terms for large people and both last names are games played on a table.
