- Not far from Bayou St. John in New Orleans sits an elaborate mansion on a hill, but the family that had it built did not live in it very long.

The last owner, Clyde if I recall, before the present owner died in the house. His sister-in-law lived downstairs and he lived upstairs. They went out to eat one night and after coming back home, Clyde, complained of not feeling well and died. He is the one that took years to build that fence around the property. Tacky as far as I am concerned. He sued the Fair Grounds after they started twilight racing because he complained that their lights were damaging his paint on the house. Ha! My family owned a house built on some of the Mansion's land on Esplanade. I played in that house and liked to sit in the sugarcane kettle in the front of the house. The inside was beautiful even though in disrepair back in the 1950's. Several movies have been filmed in the house. Had to sell my parent's house after my mother died in 2013. I love the old neighborhood.
Oh wow!! This is great, thank you for sharing this!
This is the film location for the remake of Night of the Demons.
If you want a guaranteed money making business idea do this: Buy this Luling mansion, refurbish it, and make it a wedding venue. It has exquisite architecture and grounds. You'll be guaranteed rich if you do this and you'll be preserving history as well.
Bill Whitman you basically have to be rich to carry out what you are suggesting
I visited this incredible mansion a week ago. I hope to purchase it one day and restore to its original beauty. I’d like to turn it into a bed and breakfast or boutique hotel so I can share it’s beauty with the world. I did a lot of research and one of the previous residents said it used to have a red patina on the exterior way back in the day, I also heard it’s infested with termites. Yikes! There’s just something about this place that is so so magical!
That would be awesome! Not the termites, though.. lol
that's awesome! maybe one day it'll happen but if you do own it, please keep the Luling name outside next to the hitching posts for the horses! Best of luck!
I bet the teminex bill would be crazy
Thanks for showing this, & hopefully this & ALL historic landmark properties are protected with some type of fire suppression systems.
Thank you for sharing another amazing history lesson and video! Very beautiful mansion! I love old architecture!
What A Great Story Teller you are!!👍👍👍👍Keep up the good work❤🤗❤🤗
Thank you Star!!!
The guitar, was a nice touch!
Was such a beautiful home to let it just go like that
Such a beautiful place! Can you imagine if someone restored to this to it's former glory. Great vlog!
I'd love them to restore it and let people tour it.
What a stunning house!! I also hope they are going to fix it up as that is an important piece of history there. You always have the best history lessons! Thanks so much for sharing!
I hope so too! Thank you, Susan!

Mary, thank you so much!
Very beautiful home!
Beautiful! A tragic story, but what a great piece of history! The architecture is unbelievable! those ornate overhang supports are so detailed and gorgeous! I wonder why people don't build homes like that today? Great vlog Deej! TY!
Very tragic, I can’t even imagine! Thank you as always :)
I wonder what happened to the two structures on each side of the home. Maybe they were masked by trees in the vlog. Pretty neat!
They were torn down and eventually became the streets around the house. Crazy to think about!
I passed this beautiful house on today. I have an obsession with old beautiful run down homes.
Love this house! I want to see the inside!

Thank you!! Yeah it would be great to see this place fully restored!
Such a sad story but very well done vlog.
It truly is! Thank you :)
Suggestion the story of the Latter Library. Great history and you can video inside. Love your videos and history of Nola.
I'll have to check that out! Thank you so much!!
That was a huge house. Any idea how many apartments are in there?
I believe there were 10 at one point..
So sad, i cant stand when houses are split into apartments.
so beautiful! thank you again for showing us something that I want to live in haha. It's sad that it's been made into Apartments because that means the original inside structures have been ruined. there must be a lot of blueprints it's sometimes and the Deep basements of buildings will be some of the original parts left but this one's probably been made into an apartment you never know though if you start doing research there might be Parts here and there. I know people who used to restore buildings and find where some of their original stuff had ended up and got it back to restore. it's a beautiful place thank you. always something good! I talked to my friend in Morgan City day before yesterday and told him that he was going to have to photobomb me if you came down there LOL he thought that was funny and he doesn't laugh that easy these days.
Yeah, I'd love to see how the inside looks now. It is a shame it's not the original interior anymore. Hah! Yeah, whenever I can make it down there I will expect a photobomb, lol
haha no basements in new orleans!
If it remains operational you should check the "Circle Grocery".
I definitely will!
History matters
the night of the demon movie took me here
Really? I must know why! Lol
@@NOLADEEJbecause that's the house that was in the movie
haunted
I didn't run into any ghosts while I was there.. I'll have to go back at night sometime, hehe!
For some reason "Luling Mansion" looks like "Luigi's Mansion" to me... Guess I'm lysdexic.
Hah!!!
Florence was a man?
Yep! LOL
