Were you able to figure out how to make transcribe work?
Any updates on how you like this pen so far? 6 months later
Okay, not ganna lie... This blew my mind a bit!
These pens requires specific papers?
Well that is cool!! Thanks Tom - really helpful.
You are very welcome, Phil!
Does it work with Lifescribe books? How does it compare with the Lifescribe pens? The audio recording is so important, please check thus and see if you can easily recover the audio recording when selecting the notes on a webpage, and on your tablet or PC.
I backed these pens on Kickstarter right at the very start (2014/2015). Really loved what it could do, but my pen stopped working (transferring to the app) some 2 or 3 years into using it. Never got to the bottom of the issue. While it worked though, great pen! And the transcribing was good too, even though (at the time), you had to tell the app to transcribe each page individually, and once you started drawing shapes, things went a bit squiff. Wonder if that tech is any better now.
can it work with a normal notebook?
I would love to use a good pen (handwriting ) option directly on my tablet. When talking to customers I am looking for the best option to replace writing my notes on paper, but instead do it directly on my "convertible" notebook screen. I can use onenote, but so far all pen functionality has proven to be very poor. When writing small the text becomes unreadable, some strokes are not picked up by the software and re-doing text becomes annoying and very unclear.
All I want is a simple way to write note on a screen which is easy and accurately resembles my normal handwriting with auto OCR is possible. Any suggestions?
So they essentially dropped transcribing to text in Studio while they had it in Neo Notes. WTAH?
Is this usb-C finally, or are they still on the old one?
Amazing
Holy cow, that looks awesome. I’ll be interested if, over time, James’ comment about the pen quality ends up being an issue. I really don’t care for using iPads or laptops to take notes during a meeting, so this would be fantastic on its own if it pans out.
James was referring to LiveScribe pens. I think the build quality is really good here. They even have a Lamy version! 🤯
Is it fillable with ink and do we use on local paper?
What about the Ink? Can it get empty?
I have 20+ notebooks full of sketches etc. ....That's a gamechanger!!
how does it recognise what page you're on?
Really cool💯 I do want to use it without knowing what for! 😅😅
Haha, I know what you mean. Same 🙋🏻♂️
Love your videos and thank you for them. I use the livescribe pen. I’m not asking you to do a video regarding that because digital pens are pretty much the same. Creative writing is a breeze but I need ideas for using a digital notebook as a planner agenda or Bullet Journal. How to keep subjects separate? creative writing, todo ideas, appointments … I am now tagging subjects but wish there was a more organized
I tagged the key words but that only for the app side. For actual notebook just buy folder tab.
Bluetooth or connecting to iPhone.
DOes anyone know if this pen would write on laminated sheet - so could simply wipe things out..
I do wish that the paper was reusable, like a Rocketbook or Moyu. I love how this works, but I was also trying to reduce my paper usage Mmm. Thanks for the review!
I wonder if it’s possible to put a frixion ink cartridge in their pens…
Rocketbook was weird with gel not drying fast enough and using clothe to erase.
Or, since a regular mouse used an led to detect motion, why do they need special paper? It looks like there is some sort of optical sensor in the tip.
Did you manage to set up the search function?
Nope…🫣
Sir can we make landscape video for YT content please share your experience. Thanks ❤️
I just want something that takes text down after Ive written it down
Just take a pic of your notes man!
Try with empty ink cartrige, might save some paper )
So I have had every version of the LiveScribe Family. It definitely works and syncs well to Evernote. However, I found the pens broke a lot and I finally gave up after several pens - which are not cheap. Perhaps this pens quality is better as I like the concept because some people do not like people using computers or iPads during meetings. I hope this new pen is of higher quality.
I had the same experience! I’ve been tempted to get the Moleskine’s own version of this pen, but this seems just as good, if not better.
Hi James, I also had bad experiences with LiveScribe and switched over to the Neo Smartpen. I now have 3 different Neo Smartpens that I use everyday and have had no issues for at least the last 2 years. The quality of the pens are exceptional, the ink quality is great, and the synching with my iphone works almost always without any issues. I often go into the Neo Studio ios app to search for notes (handwriting recognition works really well) and to add tags to individual pages. I also synch with Evernote but rarely go there because of how robust the features are in Neo Studio.
I had Livescribe too. Both pens eventually stopped working Boo! @Tom, I don't know about the Neo Smartpen N2, but the Livescribe pen would search your handwritten notes, you wouldn't need to convert your handwritten notes to text. I bought a Remarkable 2 before I realized it didn't have that "Livescribe" feature. Pretty worthless if you can't search, as you have said. Evernote will search handwriting, also.
@@EEEconLawyer2007 Does the Neo Pen also record and sync audio just like the Lifescribe? Can you use the neo with Lifescribe books?
@@raywalker4656 Hi Ray, yes there is a product called RECO for recording meetings and syncing notes taken during the meeting. I have not used the RECO so I can't comment on the quality. I don't think you can use Neo with Lifescribe notebooks, but I haven't tried . You can use Neo with certain Moleskines.
But if you two of the same type it will not recognize as two different book.
Too bad it takes special paper, but I understand why they do that. It seems to me that one could design an inverted track ball that would work like a ball point pen. Maybe someone has tried that, but the miniaturization and issue of ink would preclude it.
Neat idea but a little bit too pricy for me. Will definitely keep an eye on how this technology develops though!
So the final point, however, is: You need Paper to use this product.
Not just Paper, which would be acceptable for a pen (!), but dedicated paper. Paper you specifically need to buy.
Thats probably cool for many, but not what I am looking for... 😞
You will need paper anyway )
Special Paper, @@MACTEP_CHOB
Read, understand, then be snarky.
What problem does this technology solve?
Good idea till you find out that a notebook costs 25 bucks.
Why not just take a photo of notes taken with a regular pen? You literally need a camera anyways, since it requires iphone.
PLEASE DO MORE WITH APPLE NOTES. ALL OF THESE CHEAP 3RD PARTY PRODUCTS YOU REVIEW ARE INFERIOR...
I hear you loud and clear. Thanks 👍
