Thank you Greg et al. Please keep up the good work. Good information for new hunters. Single distance test is good enough for shots out to 150 metres BUT the Nosler would probably group better when tested at 150, 200 and 300 metres. Another proof of the advice from people like Mr Dave Emary, that: you do not need a boat-tail bullet at distances under 300 yards. I actually use 165 grain Sierra hollow point boat-tails in my Brno ZG 47 chambered to .30-06 because I discovered, that: with equal width lands and grooves, the standard Springfield bore/groove dimensions are too tight, resulting in a loss of 140-150 fps when using 150 grain flat-base bullets versus boat-tail bullets. That applied to factory ammunition and my hand loads; also with greater case expansion than I was happy with. That is why the M1917 rifles with their ‘equal width’ rifling have a groove diameter of .310. See Hatcher’s Notebook. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.
Half the fun is finding out which ammo your rifle likes. Accuracy must be first in my book, then all the other stuff. My cheap Stevens 200 .30-06 shoots 180 gr pills from most manufacturers quite accurately, but lighter bullets have been much more picky. NM and ID is where I've hunted big game and the "cheap" old Remington Core-Lokt 180 gr from the hardware store in Pierce,ID or an Albuquerque,NM Walmart, have worked magically. The dead deer and elk don't ask for ammo receipts. 😂
Here in Pennsylvania the majority of deer & bear are shot at 50 yards or less, 75 yards is a long shot ! Miraculously I can kill a deer at those distances with one shot from a .50 flintlock rifle firing a patched round lead ball. The fact that a $70 box of premium ammo can penetrate 5 inched further into a block of jello than a $ 35 box of ammo does little to convince me to spend twice as much. Keep in mind that they both killed the first block of jello dead as a door nail !
I’m really liking that gold ring on that scope , Leupold has been my preferred brand since I have been shooting rifles around 30 years , and I love TC arms and I am so glad that y’all are back .
Hornady Interlock bullets have been good performers over time. Gotta love something that works well at a decent price. Props to their old XTP hollow points too, they are no longer cutting edge but hold up well against newer offerings.
I think federal fusion is probably the best bang for your buck for whitetail hunting. They aren’t too expensive, bonded bullet and usually shoot well in the rifles I tried them in
Hello from Oklahoma! Good Video! I've reloaded my own ammo since the 70's. I think its criminal what these companies are charging for ammo and components these days! The last time I bought ammo I bought a box of 30-06 150 gr. corelock for $9.99. Shotgun ammo is just as ridiculous!!!
Don't blame any manufacturing companies for product prices that Harris and Biden cause the massive in inflation and shut down Americas oil and gas lines off that had the effect on everything we buy. Don't allow yourself to be brainwashed over KKK communist democrats lying propaganda Media!
I doubt I'll be able to afford a new T/C rifle let alone a muzzleloader combo but I'm so happy to see this great company back where it belongs. As a Hornady fan I enjoyed the video, not any surprises there.
Check out AAC ammo. It's palmetto states ammo company and are quite affordable and accurate. The 6.5 grendel ammo is like 16$ a box which is normally twice that much
I’ve loaded Hornady bullets for years ! For hunting I’ve used the Interlock bullets for years without failure! It’s still one of the toughest hunting bullets out there ! The Nosler Accubond I have not bought any so I don’t know how they would compare ! But for a lot of years hunting I’ve used Nosler Partition bullets also , that’s one very tough bullet on Elk and Bear ! Great test good to see a test like this !
Just a note: You should have fired at least one more round of the Accubond ammo or cleaned the barrel of fouling for a truer test of accuracy. Its been my experience that the fouling left by one brand of ammo can adversely affect the accuracy of a different brand of ammo in followup shots. Cleaning the barrel between groups being the preferred method of course. Myself I have found that nosler bullets do not like following hornady bullets down the pipe. Probably because of the noslers softer jacket material.
Around 30 yrs ago I purchased a very lightly used M77 Ruger in 30-06 for $300. Bought a box of 150 gr Win, and began to shoot at 100 yards. I was totally dissatisfied with the absolutely horrible groups. I was telling a friend about it, and debating whether or not to sell the rifle, when he asked me.. Did you try other ammo in the rifle? Other brands and bullet weights? He explained that some rifles are picky. So, I purchased several more boxes of ammo, and began the process of shooting which lasted around 5 hours. At the time I thought it was a total waste of money and time. Some brands and loads shot worse groups, some were slightly better. I was down to a box of Remington Core Lokt SP 130 gr, and I was absolutely ready to pack everything up and head home. I ended up shooting the entire box.. Mostly because I couldn't believe the groupings with this ammo.. I was consistently getting .75 inch groups at 100. Sadly, I never got to take a deer with the rifle, because a couple of weeks later someone broke into my home and stole my guns. I had a friend who worked as a Deputy for the Sheriff's dept. tell me that around 80% of robberies are never solved. So, thirty yrs later, those guns have never surfaced, and my guess is they never will.
Sorry to hear that but the same thing happened to me 30 years ago and not a one has been located with all of the serial numbers and photos of them! 😢 . Blessings and best regards to you!
In Oregon that is a KKK communist democrats strong hold when stolen guns are recovered the Sheriff - city police and state police do not let the guns owners know their reported stolen guns are recovered the Police all of them cut the guns up with a cutting torch to dispose of the guns. I worked for a city utility and often nearly weekly the cops came to the mechanics shop to use the cutting torch to cut up the recovered stolen guns and they never let people know who reported the guns stolen the guns had been recovered.
And please, to all of us, remember that this kind of gel is FAR from being a true representation of a life situation BUT, facts for facts, it helps to compare rounds from one to another.
I agree. The FBI standard of 10% ballistic gel is fine for testing handgun ammo results on humans, but 20% ballistic gel should be used for testing results on big game animals.
@chrisgunsandguitars1403 and the clear blocks, as far as i'm concerned, are far from ressembling any kind of gelatin i know of. Unless he is really carying a dull knife, the struggle to get the bullet out should tell you alot about how far from the standard theses things are. But for a one to one, again, in the same 'medium', it does compare, fairly. Thanks for your input
I realized some rifles are finicky about what they get fed, I generally start with Hornady, Remington, or Federal, Winchester ammo, to check groupings.
Unfortunately my Contender decided to malfunction and I had to swap to the Model 700 308. I also swapped to the Hornady Whitetail rounds. Two dead deer in the ice chest.
It is not uncommon for the flat-base bullets with modest ogives used in less expensive ammo to shoot smaller groups, especially with "problem rifles".. Bullets of the same weight with longer ogives and boat tails tend to be a little more touchy. For typical under 300-yard broadside shots, the less expensive stuff is usually fine. The more expensive and sleeker "controlled-expansion" bullets mainly make a difference on quartering shots, larger game, and at longer ranges (for the high-BC stuff).
I can speak to personal experiences guiding Yukon Moose hunts and Brown bear hunts in Alaska both of those bullets are complete crap to being using hunting Alaska. All of the Hornaday bullets with exception of the GMX or CX bullets the lead core bullets absolute lead bomb into fragments on Yukon Moose and the same happens when using Nosler Bullets on Yukon Moose. The new Nosler partition bullet is now redesigned to blow the noise of the bullet completely off and even tear the bullet into shreds when I have recovered them from Yukon moose in Alaska. Now if hunting the lower 48 and the hunter doesn't care about lead in his meat go ahead shoot crap bullets! Also no one in UA-cam video comments seem to know not all Moose are the same and there are 7 spices of Moose with the Yukon moose in Norther BC and Alaska is 1200 to 1500 pounds and the Shiras Moose is around 800 pounds like a Rocky Mountain Elk for size. Shooting gel blocks seem to be not the same show bullet performance as shooting heavy boned and muscle animals.
I feel like that could just be a TC thing the barrels liking cheap ammo I mean obviously this is just purely anecdotal but my TC venture chambered for 30-06 loves shooting the cheap Remington yellow box.
You really can’t even compare those two together that’s night and day those interlocks we definitely are decent bullets they will come apart’ but those nosler Accubonds will penetrate deep and will not come apart Basically a upgraded nosler partition
Accuracy is my first consideration. I have to be confident of where the bullet is going. That Nosler stuff looked terrible honestly. You put that out at 200-300 yards it’s going to be exponentially worse. The Hornady American whitetail has been pretty accurate in 3 of my rifles so far with the best being my .243 .It shot 8 rounds in a 2 inch group at 200 yards this past weekend. 6 of the rounds were in an inch group with 4 of them in less than a 3/4 inch cluster. Bottom line, invest in several brands of ammo and find out what your rifle likes best all the way out to 300 yards.
So I'm sitting here in North Central Pennsylvania. It's a November 17th 2024, so here's a suggestion for you. Thompson center. I know you're up and coming again. I have Thompson center venture my brothers at Thompson center contenders and I always wanted to get to Thompson center encore with exchangeable barrels and to do the muzzleloader and all that. I've never shot one of your the compass rifle and maybe you're building a new bolt gun, my suggestion to you and Thompson center is the Thompson center venture with a laminated stock and put the better traeger in it, which I believe you put in the compass. The compass is just ugly. Ugly ugly. Keep the 5r rifling and have good quality Walnut stocks or lemonade stocks, and higher quality available availability. Deep deep blueing, I know Sarah coltsy answered everything. It's not because you have so many old people out there right now. That's still love the wood and the deep blueing so you have a great day. That's just a suggestion but that compass was extremely ugly!!! And my next gun if you make it will be the Thompson center encore and the 280 Ackley improved! With a 1 and 8 or one in nine twist at the most

So glad you are back in business. I have an old contender, and love it.
OK Greg, where can we get these cool TC t-shirts?
Hornady Interlock bullets have been good performers over time. Gotta love something that works well at a decent price. Props to their old XTP hollow points too, they are no longer cutting edge but hold up well against newer offerings.

There are no new TCs. They are all owned by men and women who won’t let go of them.
@biblejohn4681 Hopefully there will be soon, now that the old owner bought the company back from S&W.
No ammo has been cheap since before march 2020. There’s just ‘painfully expensive’ vs ‘ouch, my a** hurts’
Absolutely the truth on any ammunition or components! Sadly! Blessings and best wishes to you!
Check out AAC ammo. It's palmetto states ammo company and are quite affordable and accurate. The 6.5 grendel ammo is like 16$ a box which is normally twice that much
@@spencertruman2004 I want 5.56 for 30 cents per round or less. 308 for 50 cents or less. 9mm for under 20 cents.
Back around 1975 a 20 round box of .30-30 corelok as about $ 2.99
If you could bring the Icon back I’d appreciate it.
I’ve loaded Hornady bullets for years ! For hunting I’ve used the Interlock bullets for years without failure! It’s still one of the toughest hunting bullets out there !

Great demonstration! Thanks for the effort and lesson.
Accuracy is the most important factor, once out to 300yrds +. What the barrel likes is what you stick with.
Just a note: You should have fired at least one more round of the Accubond ammo or cleaned the barrel of fouling for a truer test of accuracy. Its been my experience that the fouling left by one brand of ammo can adversely affect the accuracy of a different brand of ammo in followup shots. Hope you bring back the 22 hornet in the pro hunter
With a 1-9 twist
Interlock have been killing whitetails for years. Great energy dump!
Grest demonstration...🍺my friend
Love the comparison! Super good to know!! Thank you!!
Nice test. Thanks for sharing. I'm really enjoying your videos!
Glad you like them!
Hornady makes good ammo
Interlock design solved core jacket separation decades ago. Why pay more?😊
I've never had an issue in 12 years with American whitetail. Love the stuff, just wish the price would come back down to cheap prices.

I want a new Venture, I hope they're coming back.
It's good to see the less expensive option perform well, some premium hunting rounds are priced outrageously.
Awesome video, are you guys planning on bringing the Pro Hunter FX back?
And please, to all of us, remember that this kind of gel is FAR from being a true representation of a life situation BUT, facts for facts, it helps to compare rounds from one to another.

I hope you guys are doing some first edition Encores. And you let me get one!
I realized some rifles are finicky about what they get fed, I generally start with Hornady, Remington, or Federal, Winchester ammo, to check groupings.
The accuracy from the Nosler Accu-bonds are horrible.
Mabe for you. But I have nothing but great groups
Thank you for what you do.
Great video 👍🏼 can you please make a video on Hornady Black 6.5mm Creedmoor BTHP 140-Grain
Excellent review.
Unfortunately my Contender decided to malfunction and I had to swap to the Model 700 308. I also swapped to the Hornady Whitetail rounds. Two dead deer in the ice chest.
I am getting .5 groups with Norma Whitetail 150 in 308 with my 24 inch Encore. If you can find the Norma it’s about $30 a box in 308.
Have 2 different guns in 7mm-08. Both will not shoot that Hornaday ammo. Both get missfires. Out of 20 rounds, 14 won't fire.
Great video and entertaining ☝️☝️

First thing we want to know is Caliber, I didn't catch that if you said...
.308
Yeah, I missed that as well,
Would ❤ if had some barrels in budget friendly grade and higher end grades for encore. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ please and thankyou😊
How’s the reintroduction of the Encore going? I just might be wanting a new one. LOL
I feel like that could just be a TC thing the barrels liking cheap ammo I mean obviously this is just purely anecdotal but my TC venture chambered for 30-06 loves shooting the cheap Remington yellow box.
Are you going to bring back the encore and contenders back? If you have already can you provide a place for me to purchase in NW Arkansas
You really can’t even compare those two together that’s night and day those interlocks we definitely are decent bullets they will come apart’ but those nosler Accubonds will penetrate deep and will not come apart Basically a upgraded nosler partition
Still waiting for these T/C's to come out. Any eta?
Their website says 2025
Did he ever say what the round caliber was?
Try calling which target you’re shooting at
I’m assuming these are.308 caliber?
Yes, you can catch a glimpse at :45 mark. I saw a lot of 06 comments and didn't think the case looked long enough so checked on it.
What caliber is it
.308
I think if he was to major that first group , it would be under a 1/2
I dont believe the noslers printed that bad
Ive ran it for years outa several cal and rifles
Always half to 1 moa

He only fired three rounds of the Accubond ammo. That's one three shot group. That's not enough to know how accurate the Nosler ammo shoots
What kind of chrono you got ?
That’s the new Garmin.
GARMIN. Best invention since peanut butter and jelly.
Coba bekas pelongsong peluru senapan du bikin gantungan kunci peluru pasti lebih keren
Cheap/ expensive is irrelevant if your firearm likes it and can group.
Well i don't give a s..t. I reload and make my own ammo.
32 DOLLARS ????? IN COMMUNIST CANADA THE HORNADY 30.06 IS 85 DOLLARS THE OTHER IS 95 AND UP
Y'all are just teasing that encore pro in every video... 😑

3 shot samples are basically worthless. The more I shoot 25 to 100 rd strings over the garmin, the more worthless 3 or 10 shot groups are.
Great video. Thank you. Pro hunter is the best. More please
Nosler is way over priced trash
